That's what I was talking about. They were not worse, and your example is a great one. Gary Hart had an alleged affair. It was never proven, but there were press reports about it. His campaign also owed about $4 million. Based on those two issues, as publicized by the press, his campaign was sunk; most people did not want to vote for someone like that. Trump had three well documented affairs. One was proven in court. The other two resulting in his marrying the woman he was having an affair with. He has cheated on all three wives - again, very publicly. Trump is an adjudicated rapist, and has stated he enjoys sexual assault. 26 other women state they have been sexually assaulted by him. Trump is a 34 times convicted felon, convicted of crimes of election interference. Trump owes billions to people ranging from banks to contractors to individuals that he has never paid back. He forfeited on a $280 million loan - then sued the people who gave him the loan, stating they made a mistake in loaning it to him. And not only did all that not sink his campaign, it increased his popularity. It has often been said that it's inconceivable how people could support Hitler, or Mussolini, or Lenin, or Stalin. How could that happen? Now we know.

Wolfriverjoe has that exactly right. That is an old, old phrase that originated in skydiving waayyy back, and is for just such an occasion. ----------------- I could not disagree with you more. This guy didn't space altitude, pull low, or do something stupid to put himself in a corner. He had a double mal and fought it and pulled it out in the nick of time. He should absolutely be happy about that, and it should be talked and thought about, both to try to prevent such problems in the future, and especially to solidify for himself and others to never give up. Congrats to the dude and good on his buddy (the OP) for wanting to recognize the successful effort!

Putin started another war, he has been assassinating opponents domestically and in other countries. The FSB are the main suspects in the bombings of US and Canadian bound DHL cargo aircraft. The FSB are the main suspects in the recent severing of two undersea internet cables in the Baltic sea. Yet trump fawns over Putin every chance he can.

The irony of people who claim to free the oppressed, wanting to oppress those not like them is strong.

I don’t think you can single out individual republicans as racist. Many people are racist and I think this is partly reflected in the US election results and may explain why some democrats stayed home. From what I’ve seen I think it’s fair to say the Republican Party tends to pander to racist tendencies and this is reflected in their rhetoric and policies. Of course any party that panders to racists is likely to have a higher membership in that group. Racism can be very difficult to overcome. I grew up in Southern Africa (Zimbabwe) and despite coming from a family that were not racist - compared to the general population, I still struggle to put aside preconceived notions. Growing up in a culture where in general the white population was more educated than the black population, you end up with a distorted belief that whites are smarter than blacks. Despite being out of the country for 30 years, I still have to catch myself on occasion. My kids on the other hand grew up in the UK and we had black neighbours, they don’t have the same disadvantage. Consequently I empathise with people who struggle, but it doesn’t excuse behaviour or give them a pass to perpetuate false stereotypes. Leaders whether they are political, religious or otherwise have a moral obligation to set a positive example. For that reason Trump should be held to a higher standard than most.

I dunno. You want to hear some of my NSTIWTIWGD stories? If ya don't give up and ya get yerself through them, then yeah, it's a success. Skydiving/Parachuting as we practice it is a sport that it supposed to be fun. It is an elective. It is fraught with danger and deadly potential. It is a blatant act of self-reliance. If one is going to participate in such things, one should study and be aware of all those potentials, and what should be done about them. When those potentials actually happen, if that pisses ya off, then what ye're really pissed about is yer own lack of study, preparation, and perhaps the proper decision about whether ya really oughtta be there. Sometimes the reaper takes the full swing with the sharp edge, sometimes he smacks ya in the ass with the blunt end of the stick. Once ya get through it, I've always thought the proper response was to thumb my nose, give him a raspberry and laugh in his face. Not during, after. I'm not gonna get pissed at him for chasing me because I rang his doorbell and ran off. But yeah, to each their own.

His own communications director said that he likely would have spent the rest of his life in prison had he not won the election. Which is kind of a shame because that treasonous piece of shit BELONGS behind bars for the rest of his life. Look at how other, 'ordinary' people are treated when they steal classified documents. Arrested. Jailed. No bail. https://www.npr.org/2024/11/12/nx-s1-5188606/jack-teixeira-sentenced-military-documents-leak Arrested April of 23. Guilty plea March of 24. Sentenced 2 weeks ago. One year 7 months from arrest to sentencing. 15 years in prison.

Hey yo my skydiving friends!! I am writing this because I am wanting to know if there is a slang phrase that is used for someone who has a brush with death while skydiving but ends up completely uninjured? Or for someone whom gets super lucky and has an opening that is extremely low due to malfunctions, well below hard deck. And I am being serious here please don't post things like "Dumbass".. I had a friend save his own life recently while having a double malfunction and he fought to the very end and was able to get his reserve opened fully at 50 ft. I wanted to make him a helmet sticker and wanted to reach out to the community for ideas on what to write. So I figured their may be a slang phrase thats used that I haven't heard or that I'm just not thinking of that is used for such low openings or brushes with death..

No. But Gingrich was the one who pretty much defined serving “my people” over “all the people” and “compromise is loss” as tenets of the new Republican Party. And I don’t think either of those added to the country. Our already adversarial political system became way more adversarial, and I see that as a strong net negative. We are still neighbors and countrymen Wendy P.

Can you explain how Biden weaponised the justice system and his son is in jail and Trump is free?

As this is a forum of opinions; you're welcome to have that view. I'm quite sure this echo chamber will also. However; the larger electorate won't care much that you believe that. You might as well be a flat-earther.

Hard left? Ha. At least I'm not a Nazi. One more time. I heard him say the words live on TV. I understood the context. The "Protestors" were Nazis & KKK. Or their sympathizers. There WERE NOT ANY 'protestors' who weren't. There were TWO SIDES. Nazi & KKK. Antifa protestors.

He makes it up. Or parrots crap other people made up. Fun fact: A whole bunch of people are denying that Trumpty Dumpty said, in the wake of Heather Heyer's murder, that there were 'very fine people on both sides'. It's bullshit. I heard him say it live. One of those sides was the Nazis & KKK.

We got the record on jump 3 of being "allowed" to build to the full build. The 1st day was just Base and Sector practice jumps. Then we did some full size jumps but not planning to build the full 1st point, then full 1st point and only transition to the 2nd point. On the 2nd of the 3 full sequence jumps , we didnt get full altitude (ATC restriction), so we really got it pretty early on the plan!

The rest of the site may be fine, but Speaker’s Corner is a giant shit sandwich monopolized and controlled by obnoxious radical leftists who protect each other. The sooner it dies, the better. Pay for it? Hilarious! This is the MSNBC of the online skydiving world.

"Bonus Days". Seeing as he should, by all reasonable measure, be dead, any day going forward is a 'bonus day' here on earth for him. Your sticker could read something like: "Enjoying my bonus days."

He is not bright enough to learn from history. The first American Civil War was bloody, long-winded and wrecked large parts of the Eastern Seaboard. Civil Wars are always messy and bloody. The amount of blood shed is a direct reflection of the amount of love beforehand. .... similar to divorce court .... No one in their right mind would ask for another civil war.

The US is now a full blown reality TV show. There is no rule of law, or checks and balances. It’s all about airtime and number of likes on Social media. Musk has already started engaging Twits to gather opinions and to try and sway public opinion. Meanwhile so called dumb Russia is playing Trump for the joke he is. It always amazes me that people swallow the propaganda that Russia is so incompetent. I don’t know how much inertia the US institutions have, but the wheels came off some time ago. But the US is doomed and past the point of saving.

You didn't mention your age, but based on your commentary and profile photo I think that is an important consideration. I am a very active jumper, but have made and am about to make another change in my main canopy to accommodate aging. At 63, my focus is shifting to solid openings and solid landings, and a sacrifice in performance will come with that. Regardless of the brand and model you choose, I recommend considering wing loading as a primary concern.

I was too young to be into the Dead, but I am very glad my one trip to Red Rocks was July 2014. It was an Avett Brothers show, Bob Weir and RatDog opened, for one of their last shows. The Avetts joined in for Touch of Grey and I felt connected to a vast musical experience... Glad your daughter was able to gift that to you, that must have been a "gee I did something right" moment
