You seem to forget the trade war Trumpty Dumpty started with China... And lost. He jacked tariffs on Chinese goods. They retaliated by increasing tariffs on US commodities. The US soybean market tanked. Completely. It took BILLIONS in bailouts to keep the farmers from going bankrupt. He wants to start another trade war, this time with the WHOLE WORLD. I don't expect it to go any better than the last one.

CHIPS act - brought semiconductor manufacturing back to the US Inflation Reduction Act - reduced inflation, provided jobs Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act - fixed roads, bridges and airports and provided over a million jobs Capped drug prices for seniors 15% minimum income tax on corporations Got American Rescue Plan passed; got 500 million vaccinations to Americans for free Gave Medicare the power to negotiate for drug prices Let me guess - FOX News didn't mention them?

It's stunning how shallow your view of economics is. Trump inherited an excellent and growing economy and didn't do anything to destabilise it too badly until Covid hit. Biden inherited a global crisis and dealt with it better than most of the rest of the developed world. But what does Trump want to do now? Strongly inflationary policies involving huge price hikes on all consumer imports and the hits on US exports that will inevitably follow.

Seriously seeing the news about Musk and Putin, if Harris wins he should have his US Citizenship pulled and be deported to South Africa.

A husband and wife get into a huge argument. They are calling each other names, swearing, and throwing things at each. Finally the wife grabs a suitcase and throws a bunch of the husband's clothes into it and says, "that's it, I've had enough of you! Take this suitcase and GET THE HELL OUT!" As he's leaving, she hisses at him, "I want you to be miserable for every minute of the rest of your life!" The husband pauses, looks back at his wife with a confused look on his face and says "so you want me to stay now?"

Hi Phil, Re: start fires aboard aircraft bound for North America Like the Lockerbie aircraft bombing, they want them to go off over the Atlantic Ocean. Due to some delays, after loading, the Lockerbie bomb went off over land, allowing the investigation to begin. Jerry Baumchen

Progress to what? If SpaceX and Starlink had never existed, I doubt it would have made one iota of difference to my life, or that of 99% of American voters.

And a note on Carlson's latest rant: "what was the moment we can point to that nuclear technology was invented? I’ve never met a person who can isolate the moment where nuclear technology became known to man." I mean - really? I could give him five points that nuclear technology was "invented" from the discovery of ionizing radiation, to the discovery of natural radioactivity, to the first sustained nuclear reaction in a squash court in Chicago, to Einstein's letter, to the first weapons test, all the way to the "demon core" which was an object lesson on what NOT to do with nuclear materials. And I'm not even in the field. Did these people ever go to high school? I mean, they cover this in high school physics.

Given that Trump has, in his official capacity: -attempted to have Clinton arrested for being his political opponent -made campaign promises to arrest journalists who disagree with him -called entire countries of people rapists (psych term is "transference") -gotten millions in bribes and family investments from foreign adversaries Yes, we are - because he is in fact commingling those two things. Goebbels first used the technique of the Big Lie - große Lüge in German - to prove that the Germans were hapless victims of communists, Marxists, foreigners and Jews. Trump is using it to good effect to make people believe the economy today is terrible, and they are all victims of it. And people wonder how anyone could possibly have supported Hitler.

At the very least he should be informed that SpaceX and Starlink will get no more government money until he sells them.

If the Republicans do take the House and Senate while Trump loses, it'll prove that their craven pandering (such as the excuses made for him above) to this criminal, amoral, un-American scumbag who is uniquely and obviously unsuited to any public office is one of the greatest self inflicted wounds in the history of politics. Given that so many Americans do take the simplistic view that it's Biden's fault the economy has been so tough, they really could have nominated literallyanybodyelse.com and taken an easy win.

My hope is that the party that chose to follow a convicted criminal/liar/sexual predator as it leader and standard bearer gets thoroughly humiliated at every level. Probably won't come to pass though.

Interesting wording… Harris is damage and the felon, rapist, traitor is shenanigans? The only thing I am ‘praying’ for at this point is the safety of my American friends and that there is no violence.

Maybe he meant "codling" and is referring to Mexican fish farms. Or "codeine" and to drug smugglers.

Fun fact - Trump has been taking to his social media site, Truth Social, to threaten businesses that send jobs south of the border. One threat is that he would place tariffs of "200%, 500%, I don't care" on any such cross-border outsourcing of work. Turns out Truth Social is outsourcing coding work to Mexico. Imagine that!

Trump can learn something from this African sh*thole country. The governing party in Botswana has just lost their elections for the first time since independence. This is the President's response: “Although I wanted to stay on as your president, I respect the will of the people and I congratulate the president-elect. I will step aside and I will support the new administration,” Masisi said at a press conference. From CNN

Love this attempted apology from Trump to Puerto Ricans: "Don’t make me waste a whole damn half a day here, OK? Look, I came here. We can be nice to each other, or we can talk turkey. I’m here for one simple reason: I like you very much, and it’s good for my credentials with the Hispanic or Latino community.” Paraphrased: "I hate wasting time with your people, so I'm going to tell you ONCE that I like you, and that should make up for calling you garbage. OK? Done! I'm outta here."

Obviously the Rhodesian situation was not right, but it is long and complicated and it’s far from black and white. The point was the West Interfered and installed Mugabe - less than 3 years later there was genocide - which got ignored. 20 years later the country was on its knees. Now poverty is rampant, and the country is stuffed. The main point is that foreign interference often (usually?) does more harm than good. I picked on the US, but I was brought up with the belief that the British Empire had brought civilisation and salvation to the savages around the globe. If they didn’t learn about Jesus they were doomed.

I’m sorry to say but I think the world would be a better place if the US kept their noses out of other peoples business. Saddam was a nasty piece of work, but Iraq was relatively stable, Ian Smith was a nasty racist, but Rhodesia was prosperous and the entire population was doing ok. Then Thatcher and Jimmy Carter helped Mugabe in and Zimbabwe is in ruins. The list goes on …

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2024/09/22/afghanistan-taliban-restrictions-men-beards/ all that is required for evil to conquer is for good men to do nothing this applies to Trump as well unleashed he is capable of anything. narcissistic sociopath maybe the pullout in Kabul was not such a good idea but I am also not advocating that we could have made something else for Afghanistan by pouring more into it. A shitshow just like Israel no solution, so why bother? There is that. Some problems have no solution and maybe millions have to suffer and die before they wake up. The shitty part of humanity

I’ve heard Ron say that. I’m not sure Trump is capable of much strategic thought and thinking beyond the next 10 seconds. I can easily see the people around him being evil and using him strategically though. On the other hand I volunteered on a suicide/crisis hotline and had quite a few calls from people in the middle of psychotic breaks and the experience was very real for them. One of the most memorable was trying to calm a woman who believed she was the Virgin Mary and Princess Di was in heaven trying to kill her. Callers often had delusions of grandeur and being under attack (call me your highness or sir was quite common).

According to Ron Filipkowski, he does this while getting on/off planes so his lackeys can film him waving to the imaginary crowds...which works as long as the camera is not pointed toward the "crowds".

Interesting trouble brewing in the Trump camp. As many reporters have noted Melania is nowhere to be seen these days; her public appearances have become very rare. Meanwhile, Trump has taken up with Lauren Loomer, and is seen often with this far right extremist who apparently has his ear now. Loomer is so far gone into the Islamaphobe/white supremacist/neo-Nazi camp that Marjorie Taylor Greene, of all people, has started calling on her to leave Trump alone. In retaliation, Loomer called Greene a "hooker" and a adulterer. Even Lindsey Graham spoke out against her negative influence on Trump, to which Loomer replied that Graham was a faggot. Someone get the popcorn, this is going to be good.

It's racist AF. "Those people" (who just happen to be black) are clearly BARBARIANS!!!! "They" eat household pets!!!!!! I went through something similar back in middle school (we called it "junior high" back then). The small city I grew up in (Appleton WI) was very insular. You could honestly say that there was VERY little actual discrimination, mainly because there were no minorities to discriminate against. There were NO African Americans in my schools. Not elementary, middle (jr high) or even high school. The city had been a 'sundown city' back in the 60s. Not by law, but it was real. Then, in the mid to late 70s, there was an influx of Hmong refugees (Laotian & Vietnamese). My mom was involved in getting them set up and settled, because the church we went to sponsored several families. The pushback she got for helping them from a LOT of people, both neighbors and parishoners (one of my earliest lessons in 'no hate like Christian love') was pretty intense. And, of course, 'everyone' knew that the Vietnamese ate dogs. So, of course, 'everyone' knew that the refugees were going around, stealing dogs to eat. And adopting all the dogs from the Humane Society... To eat. Really. Same bullshit as now, just a different minority.

    John Sherman was ARMY

John Sherman Obituary Published by Legacy Remembers on May 9, 2024. Skydiving Pioneer, Innovator Dies at 85 Skydiving legend John Berry Sherman (born Engle) was born February 1939 in Chicago to John E Engle, GM engineer, toolmaker and turkey farmer and Sara Jo Berry (Sherman), NBC fashion editor and radio personality. He was raised first on his father's turkey farm before moving to live with his maternal grandparents in Monterey, TN and eventually to North Attleboro, MA. He joined the Army in 1957, serving in Germany as one of the Army's first LRRPs (Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol) for nuclear target acquisitions. There, he made his first parachute jump in 1958. He attended Tennessee Technical University to study engineering but soon found himself engrossed in the folk music scene of Nashville, leading to a stint as a folk musician. An accomplished guitarist, John made his way out to LA in 1961, rubbing noses with budding folk artists such as David Crosby, Peter Paul & Mary, The Kingston Trio and The Smothers Brothers while living and working at a famous LA nightclub called The Troubadour. He met his first wife back in Nashville where they owned the first folk bar and venue called the Third Floor. He eventually settled down in Michigan, working as an engineer for Chrysler Corporation. He was an early advocate for the turn to front-wheel-drive based architectures including his concept for what would eventually become the K-car-based minivan that Lee Iacocca introduced in 1984, a concept for which he was forever proud. In the late 60's, he was reintroduced to skydiving and became obsessed, often leaving work on a Friday afternoon, driving overnight in his custom Dodge van to a weekend skydiving boogie to jump all weekend and hop back in his van and make it back to the office Monday morning. Tired of jumping old, retired military equipment, as was common in the day and already being an accomplished parachute rigger, he began to experiment with equipment design. John invented the first modern "piggyback" harness/container system to be issued a single-unit certification by the FAA. It was dubbed the SST (Super Swooper Tandem, based on a nickname given to John by legend of the sport Ted Strong), which later became the Racer, revolutionizing the sport. As a leader in the skydiving industry, he introduced new design concepts, such as the pull-out pilotchute, main riser covers, anti-line-strip deployment bags, Teflon cutaway cables, the anti-float bag and container concept, the first truly elliptical main parachute, first tandem system with a 3-point drogue release incorporated into the cutaway handle and countless other safety features that have been emulated by other parachute equipment manufacturers. He was a founding member of the Parachute Industry Association, served as Technical Committee Chairman of the PIA, created the first PIA electronic bulletin board system, including the popular "rec.skydiving" forum on the Internet. John was the first U.S. skydiving competitor to Medal in what was then, all of the disciplines of Speed Style, Accuracy and Relative Work, in National Competition. He was instrumental in introducing Relative Work as part of U.S. National Competition, having written the rules for the original 4-way event. He pioneered Ten-Way Speed Star techniques that are still in practice today, designed the first 3-Dimensional skydives, and was largely responsible for the successful design of the first 200 Way World Record Formation as well as many other monumental skydiving formations. John was meet director for the first Thanksgiving Day "10-Man" Meet in 1969, later the "Turkey Meet". Notably, John has been a teacher and mentor to hundreds of riggers who now serve their skydiving communities around the world. He has trained some of the most successful riggers in the world. Virtually every major U.S. manufacturer has trained under Sherman or has consulted him to improve their products and processes. 1987 he started a new company called Decel and was awarded a grant to redesign the Mid-Air Refueling "Probe and Drogue" system used by the U.S. Marine Corps and Air Force. John received a U.S. Patent, for the design, which was to become the NATO standard. John lived many lives, more than most, and like a cat, survived many deaths including a car crash in 1964 where he died for six minutes, a plane crash, several parachute test-jumping incidents, a heart attack in 1990, a stroke in 2021, but ultimately met his match with a carton of milk (he loved milk) from McDonalds. John is survived by his wife Nancy, sisters Patty, Marty & Judy, daughters Margaret (Chase), Eliza Beth (James), son Johnny and grandchildren Quela & Thomas.
