Hi Tanya, During the height of the Watergate Scandal, Nixon said that he did not know what was going on. Someone, I don't remember who, said that was like the piano player in the bordello saying, 'I don't know what they do up there.' Jerry Baumchen

Yep. I saw that this morning. It was fun while it lasted, and I really wish it were as vibrant as it once was. To me it was a much more democratic (in the sense of participation) format than FB, Reddit, or whatever else is out there. There’s an awful lot of good information here Wendy P.

The fact that all of your references are from 100 years ago proves that you know it isn't. You know that modern day neo-nazis will vote republican if they vote. You know that Trump is the candidate who embodies fascist rhetoric and policy. You just invent this wonderland nonsense soyou can justify supporting him anyway.

American politics is different to the rest of the world in so many ways that it's hard (if not impossible) to understand the workings from an outside point of view. that said: it would be unthinkable for any major european newsoutlet to give a direct recommendation on who to vote for in any sort of election. Sure there is bias, but the concept of independent newpapers or TV-Station endorsing a candidate is truly alien

Yeah, the Dems really fucked up by nominating FDR again this year. What's that you say? He's been dead for a generation and you're only talking about him because you have absolutely nothing to back up your insane accusation that Kamala Harris is more like Hitler than Trump is? Yeah dude, it's really obvious. BTW, FDR wanted to join the fight against Hitler long before Pearl Harbour but damn near every Republican in the House and Senate refused to support any military intervention. So there you go - proof by your standards that the modern Republican party supports Hitler.

Elon won't take a cabinet posistion. Or any other posistion where he would be subordinate to someone else. Especially someone like Trump. More likely Donny boy will become a Musk boot licker.

Exactly right. It protects the government from infringing on your rights. Women recently lost some of that protection. The exact reason the first 10 amendments are literally called the Bill of Rights.

Headlines today, “GOP concerned that fallout from Madison Square Garden rally will just distract from Trump’s message” I am pretty sure that the racist tripe that was spouted at Madison Square Garden is in fact… Trump‘s message.

My bad. I thought Billy Vance was much older. No matter, the point was that reductionist thinking might be good for the feels but that even though we have too many guns and have too often glorified their use the problem is vastly more complex. I'd guess your solution is the wholesale confiscation of any type of firearm that has ever been used in a family massacre. Given how many massacres we've seen that would probably cover most guns so if it could happen we'd have a winner. But that's not happening, and you know it. None of that means we shouldn't also look hard at what causes these never saw it coming events.

Fundraisers are asking for money to provide solar power systems for people in areas affected by the hurricane. Some are using gas generators, but gasoline is getting expensive and the dirt roads they are using now will not be passable in the winter. They need the reliability of solar. https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-weave-powers-solar-relief-efforts?attribution_id=sl:9148a13b-de86-466f-b8fb-590f390ffeca&lang=en_US&utm_campaign=fp_sharesheet&utm_content=amp8_c&utm_medium=customer&utm_source=copy_link
