2 pointsThere is a big difference between a uniformed soldier and a mercenary. I have never done contract work for this reason. A soldier represents his country. Of course he is paid a salary. He has to live like everyone else. It’s not much. I guarantee you. A mercenary, on the other hand, makes the decision to fight alone. He represents himself even if he fights with others. His primary motivation is money. I know that you don’t buy into the biblical argument. However, one reason is justified. The other, in my opinion, is not.

2 pointsBrent sets the goalpost, then moves it when it turns out that he's wrong (again), then declares victory and pats himself on the back. He'll even keep doing that to an empty room, like how Trump waves to nonexistent audiences.
-
2 pointsBrent is simply a troll, and he's sucked many of you in.

2 pointsIndividual hurricanes are incredibly difficult to predict. Milton went from a Cat 5 to a Cat 3 in less than a day before making landfall - but it easily might not have done that. Do you want politicians to prep for disasters based on best case scenarios? Frankly, it’s incredibly small minded that you’d minimise the suffering of Floridians right now just to make a partisan political dig.

2 pointsI share the logical end-point from which your post is coming….I wish I shared your confidence that the outcome will be logical. Seems almost certain that Harris will win the popular vote, but to Nigel’s point: the electoral college and GOP Tom-fuckery will likely result in a nail-biter. It’s a sad truth.

1 pointWhere in the bible does it give an exception to "thou shall not kill"? All the rules we live by, including the rules of engagement for warfare (which we ignore when we need to) and the rules regarding controlling the fertility of our females are all made up by men. Pretending they come from above is complete bullshit.

1 pointSometimes the brain is needed more than the brawn. Lots of the tools you used to perform your trade were designed and built by people who never "served." The idea one can only serve their country by taking up arms is ignorant.
-
1 pointWhy don’t you just admit to being a coward who was either too selfish or scared to stand with others who actually did in your place to protect, in large part, your right to express your opinion. I would respect that more.

1 pointThere is also the Providence of God to consider. He certainly has foreknowledge of all events and nothing happens apart from his decree, permissive or otherwise. There is nothing in the Bible which indicates physical life prior to the moment of conception. Therefore, contraception would not be unbiblical. Anything beyond that, however, would absolutely fit the biblical definition of murder. There are circumstances wherein decisions must be made by physicians to terminate pregnancies when the life of the mother is in serious question. It’s a tough moral dilemma. However, inaction would result in the death of both. There are people in here with simplistic/ignorant views on the topic who generalize and say there is no difference. They’re also the ones who will call me a murderer because of my service in defense of my country. They don’t distinguish between killing and murder. However, I say there are reasons for both. Motive and conscience are important. I think, in the fallen world in which we live, which includes disease, suffering, death, etc., God offers grace to his people.

1 pointMains need those thick stainless steel grommets because they make a thousand or so jumps on the same slider and grommets. I expect a tandem main to last 1,000 jumps. OTOH Tandem reserves rarely suffer 20 deployments during their service life, so can get by with thinner brass grommets. Thin brass grommets do not last 1,000 jumps in the gritty California desert. Sand and salt get imbedded in suspension lines and they act like sand-paper on the inner edges of grommets. When they wear completely through a single layer of brass, the sharp edge start to chew suspension lines. I have had to replace dozens of brass grommets after they developed sharp edges.

1 pointSo what? So you are, and served with served with, a professional killer. Why should that opinion have any value?

1 pointThis is interesting from ASIO https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-10-11/asio-chief-warns-about-social-media-role-radicalisation-children/104461708 "Mr Burgess singled out artificial intelligence as a technology of growing concern, saying that while there was currently a "chasm" between the reality and "what's being claimed by tech-evangelists", AI would increasingly become a weapon in the hands of terrorists and foreign powers intent on espionage. "If the internet is the world's greatest incubator of extremism and social media is the world's greatest accelerator, AI will augment the incubation and accelerate the acceleration," Mr Burgess said. "We're already aware of extremists experimenting with AI, and it's likely they will try to use it to improve their recruitment campaigns, including through social media. "A company capable of building such powerful social media algorithms should also be capable of harnessing AI to better identify, moderate and remove extreme material, especially when it is being fed to children."

1 pointIt's also incredibly laughable that Brent ---FUCKING BRENT!!!--- is talking shit about the predictive ability of others....
-
1 pointOr if you want to go to a state where they kill women and children by withholding care for religious reasons, you could go to Texas.
-
1 pointI think you’ve completely missed my point. Trump is a grifting, sociopathic criminal. If I had any say in it, he’d have been locked up a long time ago! I don’t want him to win, I want him in jail. Do I think he will win the popular vote, no not by a long shot. However, I do think he is likely to win the electoral college (or lose by a razor thin margin that Maga exploits to ferment violence and chaos).

1 pointThat’s a lot of Word salad. Why don’t you tell us what you actually believe instead of dancing around it with fairytale rainbows and Stardust kind of answers. You either believe that women have rights or you believe that women do not have rights… And if you are truly in this belief structure that you are in because of your religious beliefs, but you are unwilling to admit that it is because of your religious beliefs, then you are a liar and a fake in the eyes of your own religion. I don’t know any religion that allows its membership to openly lie bare-faced to the public rather than just say what they actually believe. of course you could always say hey this isn’t my religious beliefs and here’s the actual reason why I believe abortion is wrong… But I doubt you can come up with a rational argument…. largely because any argument would be an admission that women do not have rights over their own bodies…

1 pointWhen I was 13 my life expectancy was given in minutes and I was given enough pain killer meds to knock out a horse. I survived with some minor insight into addiction. One effect of those drugs is profound indifference. Things that should matter simply don't. Getting clean requires faith - not so much in a Prime Mover of the Universe as that the trials and tribulations of life can be faced with serenity. Things don't change but we can. My last beer was when Ronald Reagan was in office so my experience is dated, but the weird thing is that being clean and sober has precisely nothing to do with drink or drugs and everything to do with living life on life's terms. With a good support system and the willingness to change, he has a shot. Good luck, Winsor

1 pointYes, it was atty Jack Pringle that represented Globe, collected Cooper money for them, and sent it off to Globe at New York City via Registered return receipt mail. His office was in Portland. Ive posted about this before ... I have no idea if he is still living . . . this Pringle is NOT to be confused with an FBI agent by the same name who worked on the Cooper case in Seattle ...

1 pointI could be wrong, but I believe he makes both. The Double GoPro is the big/popular one. I have one of em' here right now. Pretty nicely done, small and compact.
-
1 pointThanks, Spot. Does he just make the double GoPro or does he make others for the CX110?
