3 pointsNonsense. Israel targeted terrorists' communication devices, obtained by terrorists for their own tactical use. Israel didn't give to kids stuff that is being used quite purposefully as military hardware. OTOH Hezbollah for years has deliberately targeted civilians, both in Israel and in terrorist attacks elsewhere in the world. Your attempt at an equivalence is totally bogus.

2 pointsLandmines are truly indiscriminate, so are rockets fired blindly into civilian areas. As John says these were terrorist communications devices. Israel is responsible for the innocent casualties, of course they are. But the real question is did they make reasonable efforts to minimise killing innocent people? In my opinion they did - it was terrorist equipment with a small amount of explosives limiting the radius.
-
2 pointsMisrepresenting what happened is silly. The pagers were bought by terrorists to be tactical comm devices for terrorists doing the things that terrorists wanted to keep secret, like firing rockets at Israeli civilians or carrying out terrorist attacks against civilians worldwide (including stockpiles of ammonium nitrate in London and Greece), as well as the well documented use of human shields. These aren't the innocents you'd have us believe.
-
2 pointsOK, so you love terrorists who hide behind human shields, and disparage attempts to eliminate them, we get it.
-
2 pointsit's war against terrorists so I do not actually give a fuck. It is TOTALLY defensible.

2 pointsA 60 year old man goes for his annual checkup. After receiving a clean bill of health, he asks the doc if he's going to live to be 100. Doc asks him a few questions: "Do you smoke cigars?" "Nope" replies the man. "Do you drink?" "Nope" Replies the man a second time. "Do you use psychedelic drugs and eat rich foods?" "Nope" says the man. "Do you skydive or engage in other adrenaline sports?" "Nope" say the man. "Do you drive fast cars and have sex with loose women?" "Nope and nope" says the man. Doc replies "Then why the fuck do you want to live to be 100?"

2 pointsI'll leave that up to the US state dept, as of Oct. 8, 1997 it was. US attacks including the suicide truck bombings of the US Embassy in Beirut in April 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut in October 1983, and the US Embassy annex in Beirut in September 1984, as well as the hijacking of TWA 847 in 1985 and the Khobar Towers"

1 pointIsrael has attacked Hezbollah either killing or wounded over 1,000 Hezbollah members and leaders. They provided exploding pagers to the organization and sent out the termination of service notice today. Iran's ambassador to Lebanon is reported to be among the wounded.
-
1 pointThey are trying to come as close as they can get away with to committing ethnic cleansing. They have good reason to consider it to be the only answer to an existential problem. The last chance Israel had to find peace was killed along with Rabin nearly 30 years ago. This conflict is going to drag on until one side or the other ends it in a nuclear war.

1 pointApparently the most unproductive since 1859-61 And in addition: Today, Johnson’s run looks anything but heaven-sent. In the first 18 months of this Congress, only 70 laws were enacted. Calculations by political scientist Tobin Grant, who tracks congressional output over time, put this Congress on course to be the do-nothingest since 1859-1861 — when the Union was dissolving. But Johnson’s House isn’t merely unproductive; it is positively lunatic. Republicans have filled their committee hearings and their bills with white nationalist attacks on racial diversity and immigrants, attempts to ban abortion and to expand access to the sort of guns used in mass shootings, incessant harassment of LGBTQ Americans, and even routine potshots at the U.S. military. They insulted each other’s private parts, accused each other of sexual and financial crimes, and scuffled with each other in the Capitol basement. They screamed “Bullshit!” at President Joe Biden during the State of the Union address. They stood up for the Confederacy and used their official powers to spread conspiracy theories about the “Deep State.” Some even lent credence to the idea that there has been a century-old Deep State coverup of space aliens, with possible involvement by Mussolini and the Vatican. Etc. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/09/18/speaker-johnson-trump-2024/

1 pointAre you now claiming that Israel deliberately waited for terrorists to give their comm devices to kids so they could blow them up? Really? If they'd dropped poisoned candy over schools you'd have a point. But you don't. Your arguments get sillier and sillier.
-
1 pointThat is not what your link shows. It shows 423 total of women, boys(358) and "unknown" killed in the west bank. There is no separate listing for female children. The women not listed as children. In the Oct attacks last year by Hamas there were 1139 Israelis killed plus 251 taken hostage in that single attack.

1 pointwhat are you referring to ? what puffery in Part 66 ? 302s help bring new agents up to speed. I know one agent who joined the Cooper case in the Portland office two+ years after the event - he was given an armload of 302s and notes to digest. So 302s are generally taken seriously... for example this Agent remembers a boatload of paper work generated by Agents and area LE canvassing the Portland and Vancouver area as far north as Woodland trying to uncover any contact a 'stranger' might have had with anyone after landing ... the people out looking for Cooper or any sign of him included members of the public who were phoning in tips and suggestions ........... the whole mass of this paper work did not include even a hint of anyone interacting or noticing a 'stranger' including hobos in hobo camps along the rail line northside of Vancouver ........ 'Cooper just vanished, somehow'. ! Some people took this to mean 'Cooper is dead somewhere...' Years later that Agent is involved excavating at Tena Bar.

1 pointAgreed. Neither is ignoring it, or just writing a sternly worded letter whenever they kidnap/kill Israeli civilians. There are no good options. They are trying to choose the least bad of those options. They often get it wrong, but to their credit they do (often) try,

1 pointHi Mark, The Palestinians only have to reach a peace agreement with the Israelis and then they can make progress on all of their disputes. IMO it is the shards of Arafat that are still causing the problems. War is hell. Jerry Baumchen
-
1 pointBecause this way they kill fewer of those fruit stand guys. Zero bystander casualties isn't possible with a military force who hides under children's hospitals and behind schools. But the closer they can get to zero, the better.
-
1 pointYou do get how poorly this reflects on you, not him, right?
-
1 pointHi Joe, Yes, we do. If someone were shooting missiles at you indiscriminately, what would you do? Turn the other cheek? I'm with John Kallend on this one. They are at war. Jerry Baumchen
-
1 pointNo, of course not. It’s Israel’s fault that the pagers blew up and killed them.
-
1 pointApparently the pagers were a bulk order by Hezbollah from Taiwan for its members, who had been told not to use cell phones for security reasons. Really there's no reason to use a pager these days unless you are up to something where you don't want to be traced. Hezbollah, a declared enemy of Israel that regularly fires rockets into civilian areas, is a legitimate target. Not Israels's fault if terrorists give terrorist purchased pagers to their kids.
-
1 pointGreat example. We absolutely cannot predict the result of the next coin flip, yet we can confidently predict the overall split of the next ten thousand coin flips to within fractions of a percent. How can this be?
-
1 pointJerry, I don't find any humor in this. If Israel is behind this, and it's only an if out of courtesy, they knowingly set off hundreds of small bombs designed to maim and kill understanding fully that innocents would be injured or killed in the operation. That is completely indefensible and by supporting Israel we, by extension, own a part of it. The United States needs to publicly condemn this act of indiscriminate terror and privately tell Israel they are now on a very short leash.

1 pointHi Nigel, IMO it would be an even better day when all religions are in our rearview mirrors. Jerry Baumchen

1 pointHi John, Back in 2016, one of his instructors from Wharton said that he was the dumbest student that he had ever had. And, Trump continues to substantiate that every day. Jerry Baumchen
-
1 pointAs usual you're defining your own stupid goalpost. Scientists explain the reasoning behind their predictions, show their calculations, AND also quantify the uncertainty of their predictions. Then you laugh at them for being uncertain and make your own vague prediction ("2023 won't even hit the top 5 warmest years") without any of the reasoning and calculations, and you fall flat on your face. Well, at least you're predictable...
-
1 pointWith BoJo and Trump their bit on the side and their daughter are not necessarily mutually exclusive. I love the hypocrisy of the Christian Maga people. Attempt to go after Harris because her husband had an affair in a previous relationship and yet Trump is visibly in an inappropriate relationship with Loomer and possibly sexual and yet crickets from them (except MTG)
-
1 pointSo when Israel does it it's not terrorism? Imagine if Hezbollah pulled the same trick.
-
1 pointLikely because cell phones can be tracked and intercepted. Pagers have no transmission. Hezbollah probably used the old Osama Bin Laden training manual.
