5 pointsSorry, it’s OK to question your instructors, because that’s better than going ahead and doing something stupid because you thought you knew better. Instructors generally have the right answer for that student, but some students don’t feel comfortable asking questions. Yeah, he might be heading for a fall, but this time he got solid advice Wendy P.

3 pointsAND... she is not a convicted felon, nor is she under any criminal investigation.... ever. Nor has she ever paid a civil settlement for fraud, or theft. Nor has she ever been accused of rape. Nor has she ever tried to overthrow an election. Nor has she..... oh never mind, like it would make any difference to the MAGIdiot base.

1 pointThat's one of those questions that has something of a 'bottomless' answer. How stupid are the MAGA morons? That stupid. Yes, they are believing it. They believe ANYTHING Trumpty Dumpty says.

1 pointFun fact: Santos tried making money on the Cameo website, where people can get various celebrities to create personalized messages for a fee. Jimmy Kimmel started a bit called "Will Santos Say It", where his show paid the $400 for Santos to record some really stupid and silly stuff. Santos sued Kimmel. That suit was dismissed yesterday. https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4834844-santos-kimmel-lawsuit-dismissed/

1 pointWe do not see what sanctions have been imposed. Going off topic is not a mortal sin, only a venial one.

1 pointWarnings and timeouts seem to be as much a reward to trolls as death is to jebus freaks.

1 pointGiven that you have taken this thread into the direction of arguing over socialism I will take the ON TOPIC mark off.

1 pointI'm not seeing that. I'm not seeing 'Maddd Skilzzzz' here, just a student asking a question that he, apparently, isn't close enough to his instructors to ask them. And going from a 265 to a 240 isn't a huge step down. Not when he's going from 0.77:1 to 0.85:1. So, why do you want to downsize? There are good reasons, and 'not so good' reasons. There are good ways to do it, and 'not so good ways'. Many times, students or novices come on here trying to find justification and support for downsizing for the wrong reasons and much, much faster than they should. So the 'default' answer is 'ask your instructors and experienced jumpers who know you and your skills'. You are clearly working with your instructors, not trying to 'go behind their backs'. And you're not trying to go too small too fast, as far as I can tell. But I don't know you. I don't know how well you fly. So any advice I give is VERY generic. And fairly conservative.

1 pointYeah, but they’re much more likely to try skydiving. I’m not going to say we’re at the peak of safety, we’re not. But there are fewer incidents per 100,000 jumps consistently over the last 5-10 years than at any time in the past. Not that there isn’t room for improvement, but it’s heading in a decent direction. And, frankly, with the YouTube popularity of wingsuit BASE, a number of our folks with too much confidence are heading there instead of swooping. Not that it’s a good thing, but that it’s no longer mostly a skydiving thing Wendy P.

1 pointHarris took in a girl who was being sexually abused when she was in high school, and this motivated her to set up a child sexual assault unit. Meanwhile Donald …

1 pointThe "Average American" is female. Women lost more rights thanks to Trump than at any time in the past 100 years.

1 pointSince Cooper specified the aircraft configuration, the issue was always about fuel. If you read the transcripts of the communications between the aircraft and the technical people in Minneapolis, the crew was only advised when they were in the Portland area that they would have enough fuel to reach Reno. Prior to Portland, the crew had been repeatedly passing fuel consumption and fuel onboard information to MSP.

1 pointBrent and Winsor think she's awful, incompetent, a looming disaster, and the worst of our choice: high praise indeed.

1 pointIn just saying the average American was better off during the Trump administration than during the Biden administration. Inflation, high interest rates, record credit card debt, out of control border, record number of fentanyl deaths, wars raging around the world and a senile old man in the White House possibly being replaced by a cackling hyena who can’t read a teleprompter, or do a press conference. Yes, I get it…orange man bad, but no worse than our alternative.

1 pointBack in 2010 people were only just coming to terms with cloud storage and I’m pretty sure your average punter couldn’t even explain it coherently today or understand how it really works. Without watching the full context of the video, I will withhold judgement as to whether she didn’t understand it or was simplifying it for the sake of the discussion. It sounds like it was a talk on the legal landscape and therefore probably not the place for a highly technical discussion. I’d love to see the OP explain it in lay terms to us in less than 2 minutes. In reality I think even people like normiss may struggle (not knocking your skills Mark!) On the same note I really doubt the OP understands what a policy is, or could coherently explain it.

1 pointI have worked with women who went below the radar by playing the airhead Barbie doll type, but actually had minds like steel traps. I get no sense that Harris is pretending to be a moron - her track record makes clear that what you see is what you get. Her opponent is beneath contempt by any measure, but she is just as bad when all is said and done. The US of A is an adolescent society as empires go, so it's useful to consider what kind of ghastly "leadership" has been survivable historically. The policies supported by Harris have been the kiss of death to every nation that has put them in practice. On the other hand you have a sociopathic candidate driven solely by greed and self interest, and it is thus possible that he will avoid killing the goose that laid the golden egg. With Harris our goose is cooked Either way, this election goes beyond 'hold your nose and vote,' it is one of having barf bags available at the voting booths. BSBD, Winsor

1 pointNope. She went to Central and South America and worked out deals with the countries from which people were fleeing. I don't have the reference available at the moment, but I have heard reports that people seeking asylum at our southern border has been cut significantly due to these efforts.

1 pointWhen I started At Elsinore in 1970 I paid $150.00 bucks for my containers, canopy and reserve chest mounted. I had a 7TU and a 24 reserve B4 containers. I then moved up to a PC Church Window I bought from Dick Gernand for $300 and I had a custom piggy back made for $200 and I bought a navy 26 for 50/75 bucks. I jumped that for years until I got a 1.5 LoPo copy of a PC that packed up real small for $150.00. Custom jump suit for $65.00 Then I had another Piggy back made for about $300.00 for Hank aschuto (sp) canopies, those were free for 10 man speed star team jumping and lastly I got a Paradyctal for free from Jim Hanbury. I posted this because my new rig is going to cost me north of 10 large, custom containers, new 9 cell, new reserve, AAD, Jump suit, helmet. The good old days are GONE! sob, moan

1 pointIt was often called the Jesus String or the Jesus Rope in my circles. A friend of mine put his own onto a Starlite container after a notable (cleared at 400') container lock on a Piglet in our area. Me, I lived dangerously and didn't. Wendy P.
