2 points(not just to you, Phil, but yours was the easiest post to reply to) Funny, I just saw his PAO from his Iraq deployment on CNN, talking to Brianna Keiler, the other day. Shawn Haney and I go way back to OCS, then were both Marine PAOs (the officers in charge of combat correspondents). She's a good egg, and a way better PAO than I ever cared to be. I agree with what she said -- combat correspondents are called that because they have to go out to the areas to get the information to write in their reports. Additionally, enlisted CCs were nearly as likely to accompany embedded media as the officers were, and were always packing. Another colleague of ours died on one such escort when she stepped on a hidden IED; definitely not a safe job. Not to mention, especially in Iraq, there really wasn't any "rear area." Yeah, definitely safer than others, but not a safe job. I'm not saying JD Vance is a standup guy -- I despise everything that guy says and stands for, especially his accusations toward Tim Walz's service. But I had to give the Marine PAO perspective on combat correspondents and at least defend his service. Yeah, it was easier than that of many other Marines, but he did his four years honorably, just as Tim Walz did his 24 years, just as I did my combined 32 years.

2 pointsI used the word in a Trumpy way. Perhaps it’s better worded as civil unrest or a domestic terror threat. He’s also got radicals and foot soldiers in place right up to Supreme Court. He’s definitely got the power and support to potentially cause major damage to the electoral process.

2 pointsI had to read this three times when I saw it. From part 97, a day after summary of the hijacking stating the location of the plane at 8:05pm "in the vicinity of Portland" and then at 8:12pm "south of Portland" when the oscillations were observed. Now, this is in direct contradiction to the military/SAGE/FBI flight path and timeline. What's somewhat tantalizing is that it cites the Northwest Flight Log as the reference for this information. I am chalking this up to it being literally the day after the hijacking. But if it is simply an early error, isn't it funny how that error would dove tail so beautifully with the Tena Bar enigma and the challenges to the generally accepted flight path and time line? Has anyone seen this in another 302 before ?

2 pointsNo. 'Age of consent' laws cover just that - consensual behavior. Stuff that is a choice. However, gender dysphoria is a psychological condition. Not treating it properly has all sorts of consequences. Suicide is just one of them. To allow a minor to begin to transition, under the supervision of a medical professional, is quite a bit different. You have to remember that this isn't something that people 'just do'. Even for adults, there's a process to ensure that the person is genuinely trans, not being 'just fashionable'. Denying those kids proper care isn't any different than pretending that bipolar, depression or schizophrenia aren't real in kids.

1 pointThe racist teleprompter crap is so tired and pathetic. I remember that when Obama was running the first time there were jokes flying around by racist nut jobs that he couldn’t even use the bathroom with out instructions on a teleprompter. Newsflash for you, Donald is still the rapist convicted felon he was a month ago, although maybe slightly more deranged

1 pointNot to be a doomsayer, but I think you’re wrong. Trump is definitely setting the scene, in fact I think the reason he’s got “The worst Campaign in History “ is because he doesn’t care, he’s laser focused on the first coup in American history. He’s a cornered animal and every bit as dangerous. Im genuinely concerned that the US government is sleep walking towards a crisis thinking they can just vote him into silence. However, Biden’s remarks during that interview that he doesn’t expect a peaceful transfer of power hopefully indicates that there is a strategy being developed to counter that it.

1 pointYeah. What bothers me the most about all this hand-wringing over "oh the poor CHILDREN!" is that the very same conservatives would think nothing of getting their child life-altering irreversible surgery if it made them more cis, or prettier, or made them feel better about themselves, or got kids to stop teasing them. For kids aged 13-19, per year, there are: ~ 6000 breast reductions for girls ~ 3000 breast reductions for boys ~ 1300 breast lifts ~ 3000 liposuctions ~ 350 labiaplastys And the only time it's an issue is if the kid is trans. That's a pretty big level of hypocrisy.

1 pointI see a big difference between Bigun on the one hand and Bill (and Bartsdad) on the other. Bigun clearly is thoughtful about the issues and although conservative is not a knee-jerk defender of Trump and the MAGA cult. In fact it seems to me (based on what he writes) that he is not comfortable with Trumpism. I don't see that at all in Bill.

1 pointI like how he defended his service and then in the same breath thanked Vance for his. Both classy and clever messaging about being the bigger man. He seems to be an all round stand up guy.

1 pointBut the funny thing is that I’m no longer using it. Explanation: In past I was reluctant to fall on the back with jets running. I built that automatic launching shelf with aim to drop me down straight on the belly. But it did not happen. Every time I found myself on the back right after the drop. So I decided to accept it. I practiced uncontrolled fall out on the back from Skyvan, until I obtained a good habits to make quick and controlled transition. From there, automatic launching shelf was no longer required. I replaced it with smaller equivalent permanently mounted shelf. I kneel on it, engines facing outwards, start engines, and then flip myself backwards, like scuba divers from the boat. In two seconds I’m back on the belly. It works pretty well, so this issue is closed.

1 pointWhere exactly do you get that number? Because I rather doubt that only 1 out of every 300 transgender-identifying individuals are "legitimate." I'm not sure you're the be-all and end-all of judges of who's "really" transgender. I have a transgender nibling. Her contention is that gender is an invalid box with which to classify her, because nothing feels right. This has been true for her since she was 13, 17 years ago. It wasn't "fashionable" then, it was difficult and disruptive to her life. Maybe the reason it's fashionable now, just like the "sudden increase in homosexuality" is because it's less likely to get you killed to be brave enough to say what you are. Wendy P.

1 pointNot that I've ever seen. I've known of a few trans and/or gay folk that were 'bad actors' and got called out for their behavior, not for their sexual orientation. People get labeled 'a bigot' for.. Being a bigot. You know, like this:

1 pointConsidering the far majority of rape is committed by cis gendered males, maybe we shouldn't encourage that? Considering the far majority of violent crime is committed by cis gendered males, maybe we shouldn't encourage that?

1 pointSome fun headlines from the onion headlines reddit. The weird thing is with him, half of these could easily be things he would claim. 1 pointI worked for the Air Force for a while as a civilian, and I worked with a lot of Air Force and a few Navy guys. And they were largely full of shit. They'd talk shit about the stuff they did, about the adventures they had, about the time they almost got killed etc etc. And I worked with these guys; they spent their entire enlistment in a hangar near Sacramento fixing airplanes. Nothing wrong with that. Heck, that's what I was doing at the time. And a lot of people join the military to "see the world," be heroes, have adventures etc. And so if these guys found themselves stuck in an Air Force base in the US, and they wanted to embellish their stories a bit I wasn't going to get in their way; wasn't hurting anyone. But now that JD Vance is attacking another veteran for "stolen valor" that means that he doesn't get the same consideration, especially since he is claiming that HE is the brave soldier in the war zone while JD Vance is a coward. So from that perspective let's look at JD Vance's brave career in the Iraq "war zone" in the latter part of 2005 and those of his fellow soldiers: Tricia Jameson was a healthcare specialist from Nebraska who served with the Nebraska National Air Guard. On Jul 13 2005 she was killed when a roadside IED detonated near her ambulance in Trebil, as she rushed to the aid of three wounded Marines. On Jul 13 2005, JD Vance was sitting in an air conditioned office writing stories. John Tollefson was a football player in his high school in Wisconsin. When he was sidelined with concussions, he started mentoring youth football teams. He joined the Army after high school. On July 27, 2005 he was killed, along with another soldier, when his vehicle was destroyed by an IED buried in a road in Ashraf. He was on patrol at the time. On July 27, 2005, JD Vance was sitting in an air conditioned office writing stories. Toccara Green had always wanted to serve her country. She enlisted with the Army and her "black job" was as a specialist for the 57th Transportation company. On August 14th, 2005 she was ambushed, shot and killed while convoying supplies along an Iraqi road into Asad. On August 14, 2005, JD Vance was sitting in an air conditioned office writing stories. So perhaps JD should tone down the rhetoric, lest similar scrunity be applied to his claims.

1 pointHi Joe, The one bit of truth since Bill posted his B***S***. Thank You. Jerry Baumchen PS) As a veteran, I hate it when someone tries to denigrate anyone's service to their country. Oh Bill, how about your guy Cadet BoneSpurs - where did he serve?
-
1 pointHi Bill, Have you ever served in the US military? Re: Walz served overseas with his battalion in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. One does not have to be in a combat zone for that to be true. All military people, who were in at the time, were in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. You are simply passing off 'what you heard' as being more factual than accredited news services. Jerry Baumchen

1 pointSomehow you think it's wrong for her to have had a sex life? Do you believe that young marine didn't have one? Normal people have sex. Even your parents had sex. Are you pure, or just a misogynist?
