Not sure how outraged I am expected to be about kids, their doctors, their parents, and the decisions that are made within the confines of these groups, especially when it is none of my fucking business. Also have no idea how ANY of those decisions affect me, my family, my life, your life, anyone's life, any family.... and so on.... especially when it is no one's fucking business, except those involved.

Yep. So did gay rights. And we are now in the middle of the battle for trans rights. Couldn't parse that. If you mean we are living in history right now, that's always true. And the battle for rights has never been easy, or quick, or without people believing that if you give someone else more rights, they have less rights.

Georger, don't hold your breath on this. Ulis has Cooper landing on the west side of his new flight path. As he points out, the wind was blowing toward the northeast or north-northeast during the jump. This means that Ulis apparently believes that Cooper drifted upwind and landed upwind from the airliner's flight path. Mother Nature doesn't work that way. His new landing zone is about a mile from Tena Bar but there is something that Ulis apparently doesn't realize or understand the significance of although it has been pointed out to him and everyone else numerous times. The Northwest Lower River Road lies between Tena Bar and the new landing zone. It is built on top of a levee that results in things east of the levee going into the Vancouver Lake drainage area. Things west of the Northwest Lower River Road goes into the Columbia River. I visited the area shown in the video, and marked as the new landing zone, in November 2009. It was farmland and had been recently harvested. Based on the small stubby things (corn stalks?) sticking out of the ground, it appeared that corn was the most recently crop grown there and that the corn (or whatever it was) had been used as feed by the dairy operation just across the road. The above has been endlessly discussed on DZ since about 2009 or early 2010.

Hi Wendy, About 4 yrs ago I was in Arizona visiting friends & decided to stop by Rigging Innovations & talk to Sandy Reid. As we talked, I told him about the first time that I met him. It was in 1976, he was travelling around the country with some woman in a fairly large van with some sewing machines setup in the van. He was out, on the road demo'ing/selling SST's. I'm guessing it's something of an 'add on' position, where someone is given the duties of establishing policies and procedures to be 'inclusive'. I had something along those lines as a member of the 'Safety Committee' a while back. I had a 'real' position and duties, but the 'safety guy' was also part of it. As a side note, I volunteer at a cat rescue, where the owner is very inclusive and open to the LGBTQ community. We had mugs made for Pride month that said "Purrrrride" on them, with a picture of a rainbow colored cat. They sold out. Of course, a couple dipshits on FB complained about 'going against God's Will' or accusing us of being 'groomers'. We get quite a few 'difficult to determine' people walking in (it's a cage free shelter, where visitors are welcome to come in and interact with the cats). My job is to greet them, make sure they understand and follow the rules and answer any questions they may have. Not to judge or classify them. Something I have found is that very few are offended if I 'mislabel' them. As long as I accept correction and address them as they choose to be. I was having a conversation with one of the other volunteers, and she said that she was often nervous trying to decide how to address someone, and would usually default to 'them'. I pointed out that it's easiest to simply ask. Something like "How do you prefer to be addressed?" What I have realized is that giving someone the opportunity to clarify that before any awkward mistakes is giving them a level of respect and acceptance that they don't usually get. The times I've gotten a 'thank you for asking' outweighs the number of 'what do you mean you can't tell' by a HUGE margin.

Yep. I've had people tell me "they" when I am referring to a kid that I once knew as a "he" or "she" but no one has ever gotten mad about it. At Qualcomm, our diversity officer (and a vice president) spent a significant fraction of her time on DEI initiatives. She once told me she had trouble with pronouns as well - so she had a policy of using names rather than pronouns when she was referring to someone in the LGBT community who she didn't know well. Hearing her say she had trouble with it made me feel better about having similar trouble. At my first Pride parade in San Diego I was worried about using the "right" flag. Would people think I was trans if I ended up with the trans flag? Would gay people think that I didn't have a right to fly the rainbow flag because I was straight? I quickly realized that no one really cared - provided you're using the flag as a show of support and not as a way to say "fuck you."
