3 pointsTruth. A Republican PAC aimed at a more moderate platform - not unlike VoteVets.org is Democratic and more moderate. I applaud the direction back towards the center from both sides of the aisle. Or, I'm just tired of hearing that screeching sound to cause more division from the extreme sides.

2 pointsOr asking Trump straight off if the Secret Service had cleared him to be with the President, given he is a convicted felon and criminal, rapist, fraud, traitor, possible espionage crimes, ad nauseum.
-
2 pointsall he has to do to get under trump's skin at the debate is to keep bringing up that he lost the election and that he is a convicted felon. And maybe touch on the rapist bit too. Trump of course is the narcissistic sociopath, so he believes he did nothing wrong and that he won the election so that will drive him bonkers.... but he is already bonkers. Biden could easily get him spouting off enough stuff to land him in jail on gag order violations right before his sentgencing.

2 pointsHi Keith, I think that this sums it up nicely, from your link: I am a conservative Republican, but I cannot stand the lying, the cheating, the illegal activities that Trump has perpetuated. We need a LOT more of these. Jerry Baumchen

2 points"I've also come to the conclusion that people lie to pollsters quite often" Since high school, when a LOT of the questions were personal enough I felt it was intrusive, I have never answered any type of questionnaire honestly. I give them what I feel they give us, complete bullshit.

2 pointsI plead guilty, I did not read more than the first paragraph or so. CNN definitely caters to an audience almost as much as FOX does. It's front page is mostly all Trump all of the time.
-
2 pointsTruth. I don't know how much of an effect that would be - Whenever he pops up on my feed, this going thru my head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jTHNBKjMBU

2 pointsHi folks, Now, here is a real MAGA-Man: his bragging about his firearms collection that he will never surrender But, when it came right down to it, he did surrender. So much for being a tough guy. Florida dentist charged with sending violent, racist messages (msn.com) When the chips are down, the MAGA folks are just cowards & bullies. Like their leader. 1 pointGiven the recent SCOTUS tilt towards consistency with historical tradition (Bruen, 2022), I'm all in favor of everyone being allowed to own a muzzle loading musket. Other guns, not so much.
-
1 pointIf only they had the decency to announce their plan in advance. But no, the dirty bastards keep sneaking around and taking advance of the element of surprise. Of course the only sensible thing is well armed sentries with military discipline and ready backup available at all vulnerable points. Like elementary schools and kindergartens and such. It should be easy. There are only about 115,000 schools in the US. And they are mostly closed on weekends so the personnel could be assigned to places of worship as well.
-
1 pointAgreed. Unfortunately, as Uvalde demonstrated, even armed resource officers, and armed populace and armed fast-response police are not sufficient to stop a determined active shooter.
-
1 pointI wouldn't have imagined the need. P.S. Active Shooter Drills suck. An active shooter shouldn't even make it on the school grounds before getting dumped.

1 pointThat TS/SCI SSBI submission form though.......if it's legal, it's correct. Every time. If it's generic information collecting, odds are it's not. I'm a fan of nun ya. Never give information to screw yourself.

1 pointI gave up predicting US election results after Bush V Gore. I've come to realize that the margins are so small that it comes down to who is motivated enough to turn up at the voting booth. And now mail in balloting makes it even harder to guess. I've also come to the conclusion that people lie to pollsters quite often. And then there is the unknown effect of RFK junior. Like you, I don't think Trump can win this time. Especially in the face of anger coming from those offended by the overturning of Roe. But I am wrong more often that I am right.
-
1 pointInteresting. It will be a race. I don't "think" Trump will win, but I've been wrong before.

1 pointI find that I get the most consistently stable track in a position somewhere between the slick body positions for 'delta' and 'fully pinned max track'. My PTS is more forgiving than the old classic I used to jump (which I no longer own). In general, I have found the PTS (I have the original model) to be substantially easier to fly at max track. My best glide ratio in the PTS is usually more 'pinned max track' (arms in, legs perhaps shoulder width apart). When I fly my Tube 5 or Sumo 2 I have to hold a wider leg stance to stay stable. Are you tracking cross wind on those skydives (so that wind isn't changing the overall measured glide)? Also, are you tracking palms down or palms up? I think that the ideal body position varies _a lot_ with the jumpers body type, but for me the PTS (and the PF Classic) do better with a palms down track, where the Tube and Sumo do better with a palms up track.

1 pointYou may be shocked by how few from both sides know this. It's a growing list. https://rvat.org/#testimonials

1 pointSo Judge Aileen Cannon once again shows that there's one law for the rich and powerful, and another for the rest of us. Maybe that's what the founding fathers actually wanted, since they were all rich and powerful. It's just become more blatant recently.
-
1 pointMAGA-man: You can have my guns when you pry them from my cold, dead fingers!! Police: OK MAGA-man: Wait! Uh - maybe I spoke too soon. I guess I don't want them THAT much. Where's my lawyer? Witch hunt! The case is RIGGED!

1 pointAnother week passes and still no SCOTUS decision on Trump's immunity. The delaying tactic continues. Clearly this constitutes election interference, but with this court there's no recourse.

1 pointI wonder if the strong focus on short-term goals of saving money and servicing the stockholders contributes. I do know that Boeing’s federal division had a lot of very good employees who were encouraged to find ways to save money in the 90’s and early 2000’s (my company was a partnership between Boeing and Lockheed-Martin). During Shuttle, IBM was wholly focused on quality; as a company, at my level at least we were encouraged to support the mission, not to come up with boondoggles. I have a feeling that was the same for most of the companies at the first and second-line levels, and very possibly the third. This strong focus on quality led to risk aversion, which increases costs. And, of course, taxpayers are all about cost, as are stockholders. The systemic things I see that really concern me all have to do with money, which here in the US at least (and much of the world) is power. And we all know that people like power. I don’t have the solution; this forum (and SC) are more like the donut counter where the old guys in the corner sit every morning and identify the world’s problems. Upper management at Boeing will be replaced at the discretion of the stockholders, and only if the stock price takes a tumble. And they won’t hire someone who doesn’t want a large compensation package, because he (it’ll be a he) won’t have a “track record of stockholder satisfaction.” Any more, that’s all that matters. Money makes most people pretty short-sighted. What Boeing needs is a longer-term goal, and the time and resources to address it. So yeah, a huge stock loss will help, but once they get a good quarter and some rich people have gotten their money back, things will go back Wendy P.

1 pointLate term abortions done for shits and giggles do not happen so going there is going nowhere. Nor is the decision made by a back room coin toss. I can hardly think of a more serious, weighty, and difficult decision to be made. As such, it must be made without any interference by any organization and only by the woman and her doctors. What that means is that I would always err on the side of the chance for abortions being made in error or owing to bad medical advice and not at all owing to some arbitrary point in time you and I agreed upon for what can only be seen as specious reasons.
-
1 pointThe other card-carrying woman here (though I have been absent a bit!). Anyone impregnated should be able to get her own treatment from a provider who is trained and still willing to perform the procedure. "Late term" is not a thing. "Later abortions" happen after a fetus is expected to be developed to viability and can survive outside the uterus but are necessary due to something non-viable about the fetus (it will never be viable outside a uterus). To force someone to continue growing a fetus that will never grow a brain, or statistically speaking has a 98% chance of not surviving due to ruptured amniotic sac or other complications, or for myriad other medical issues that none of us NOT trained in obstetrics fully understand, is cruel, dangerous and unethical. Anyone trained in the science who is willing to perform the procedure in-office or by medications (has taken an oath to do no harm and still feels the procedure is appropriate), should be able to provide that health care to the patient who wants it.
-
1 pointMen. Men get to decide. Men get to decide what women can do with THEIR OWN bodies. One of the things I find utterly abhorrent about this whole discussion is that a corpse has more bodily autonomy than a live woman.
-
1 pointSo a 10 year old girl is raped, and doesn't discover that she is pregnant until after your criterion is no longer satified (yes, it happened in Ohio in 2022). And you would force that child to go through a pregnancy and labor and give birth to her rapists child. You have gone way down in my estimation. Way way down.
