4 pointsThe way that this site works, text that is in a url format will display as a clickable link no matter how it got there. If he can copy and paste anything, he can copy and paste the text of a link.

2 pointsI don't see justice as shame. I honestly thought he'd buy/threaten/intimidate his way out of this one. Seeing that even a former president is being held accountable for his crimes is a good indication that America is not as corrupt as it seemed yesterday. And that's a good thing.

1 pointThis showed up on my Google news. From the SF Chronicle/SF Gate Website. A skydiving instructor who taught courses at the beleaguered Lodi Parachute Center in San Joaquin County has been found guilty of fraud and identity theft as part of a scheme tied to two deaths at the site. The seven-day trial in Sacramento outlined how Robert Pooley, 49, certified student tandem instructors using a forged signature after his own license was revoked. Pooley charged around $1,100 for the courses, which enabled instructors to take first-time jumpers into the sky, prosecutors said. One of the instructors falsely certified by Pooley, a 25-year-old Korean man named Yong Kwon, died while harnessed in tandem with first-time jumper 18-year-old Tyler Turner in August 2016, after Kwon was unable to successfully deploy neither the main parachute nor the reserve one. That tragedy resulted in a $40 million civil judgment against the center’s former owner, Bill Dause. Tyler’s mom Francine Turner told SFGATE last year that, as of July 2023, none of that money had been paid. Pooley was not charged with causing the death of Kwon or Turner. “Pooley falsely told students that he was a tandem examiner, led them to believe they could obtain USPA and UPT tandem ratings through his courses,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement on Friday, referring to the United States Parachute Association and United Parachute Technologies. “Pooley accepted numerous students in this manner from around the world, including the Republic of Korea, Chile, and Mexico,” according to the statement. To falsify the students’ certifications, Pooley used the digital image of the signature of another instructor who was out of the country. Pooley faces up to 20 years in prison for each count of wire fraud and a two-year sentence for aggravated identity theft. His sentencing is set for Aug. 26. His attorney did not respond to a request for comment by the time of publication. The Lodi Parachute Center has been the site of 28 fatalities since 1985. Alongside the $40 million 2021 civil judgment brought by the Turner family, the center was issued fines totaling $933,000 by the FAA in 2010 and 2011, and it was subject to an FBI raid in 2018. The center remains open today. https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/lodi-skydiving-instructor-found-guilty-19481878.php

1 pointIf you were trying to 1. keep operating and jump costs to a minimum 2. keep Aircraft taxi time to a minimum (Twin Otter costs $62 per minute if the hourly rate is $3,700) 3. keep Jumpers next to all of this required and give them everything they like What would the Perfect Dropzone Airport look like in regards to length of Runway for Airplane, location of landing zone for Airplane and Jumpers, Jumpers loading zone, where would it all be in relationship to the Runway, how would all this work and is there a perfect dropzone like this anywhere?

1 pointHi Nigel, Re: There isn’t an option to vote no. One can always write-in someone. Re: voting for Biden gives him more of a mandate While I respect anyone's right to vote as they want, to me a Biden mandate is far, far better than Trump. No matter how you slice it. To me, voting is almost always the choosing of the lesser of the two evils. However, I have not seen Joe Biden ever doing something that I would consider a mandate. In US politics, a mandate usually comes with a very lop-sided win; I doubt that this election will be anything like that. VOTE FOR BIDEN & SAVE THIS COUNTRY!!!!!!!! Jerry Baumchen

1 pointThat would make it easier for other posters to realize that he's not being truthful about what the article says, so he's more effective at trolling if he "can't" do it. To paraphrase Upton Sinclair, it is difficult to get a man to understand something when his self-identity depends upon his not understanding it.

1 pointIf it's futile, why would generals waste their time on a useless exercise? Why would anyone? If it's not futile, forego a $250 bottle of wine, or a $2500 yacht upgrade, and send money to people whose stated mission is to get the veteran opposition to Trump into the spotlight. They even state it in their mission statement - "VoteVets . . . uses public issue campaigns to relentlessly lift up the voices of veterans." They send out newsletters, do email campaigns, fund ads, and yes, even get people like Mattis and Kelly to speak out.

1 point~37% of America from both sides of the aisle are moderates. That's not counting the number of Independents - which of itself is a moderate position. One need not jump parties every time the wind blows. I'm comfortable being a moderate Republican. I'm not changing parties cause Joe said so, no more than I would expect you to change. We have a different opinion on how the goals should be reached, but that does not make you or I bad people. I remain firm that I will not vote for either Trump or Biden. That works to your advantage - somewhat. You don't have to agree, disagree or even understand - because my freedom to choose is the same as yours.

1 pointHi folks, Another one who has taken a career hit for supporting Trump: Jenna Ellis, an ex-attorney for former President Trump, has agreed to have her law license suspended for three years Former Donald Trump attorney has Colorado law license suspended for attempting to overturn 2020 election results (thehill.com) No tears from me. 1 pointI'm not a rigger, but I think the simple answer is that in general, one side is enough and both could invite a problem. In an of it's self, an RSL is simple and has saved many lives. Not having it as led to deaths.

1 pointThat kind of describes Hillary Clinton. If she were a man, she'd be considered a hardass who can get things done. Since she's a woman and a liberal (sort of), she's the bitch-devil incarnate. Wendy P.

1 pointI think it would be better in Gear & Rigging. If a moderator feels strongly enough about that, it may get moved. Note: My response may appear a bit sarcastic or snarky. Apologies in advance if it seems that way. That is NOT my intent. Sometimes its just hard to convey accurate emotions in a text response. It is a great question. However, it's been asked and answered in a number of different ways over the years. If you're new, you weren't around to see/hear those answers, so I think it's great you are thinking about this sort of thing and asking these sorts of questions. I heard this a while back, and have repeated it a bunch: There's no need to apologize for your ignorance, unless you do nothing to correct it. (I TOLD YOU I was stealing that, Sandy) With any sort of thing like this, a couple things have to be asked and answered: What benefit does it bring? What hazards does it add? How much does it cost? In the case of the double sided RSL, a few different solutions have been used. They aren't used much today, because they really aren't needed. RSLs work as intended, and either premature release or a 'hang up' due to a riser breaking happens very rarely these days. While not exactly what you are asking, the Collins Lanyard achieves pretty much the same thing. A quick search found this: (note who created the thread ) If you search more, you will find more.

1 pointIt's a good question! What benefit do you think that would bring? :-) Because the complication of more hardware (and some other things) brings a lot of downsides and risk too,
