However it happens, happen it will. Better batteries, 100% efficiency solar everything, or maybe some kid sorts out how to tap into the planets electric field with an app. However it is coming and all to the Luddites chagrin.

Imagine it's a Friday afternoon, you want to make it to the DZ so you get in your car and . . . out of gas. The nearest gas station is two miles away. Unlike an EV that you can just plug into your house, that gas car is going nowhere until you hoof it to a gas station. So you find a container, make the two mile walk, get a few gallons of gas, hoof it back, put the gas in, drive to the gas station, get more gas, get on the road and get to the DZ - just as the last load is taking off. You watch all your friends jump as you sit on the ground, frustrated and angry. Your gas car just screwed you.

I guess then that the definition I heard of gender as being “generally descriptive, but not definitive” would be pretty decent. After all, well over 95% of Chicago residents are honest and not the least bit violent. Doesn’t seem to stop people from describing it as a hellhole where you can’t trust anyone Wendy P.

Business as usual from one of the least intellectually curious people on this forum. I suppose in some ways it must be comforting to just hide behind 'both sides are the same!' all the time instead of ever having to bother finding anything out about the things being discussed

And 97% of people are straight! But listening to conservatives you'd think the sky was falling due to all the gay people gaying up things and shoving it down their throats. And 99% of people are cis! But again, the #1 threat to our kids is trans sickos reading to our kids in libraries, according to the right wing. Trannies are the biggest threat, NOT GUNS!

Energy is everywhere. Transitioning from stored mined energy to tapping and using all the various forms of radiation streaming from the giant fusion machine a mere 1 AU away is only an engineering problem to be solved. That will take some time and a lot of political will. But is within easier grasp than pie in the sky stuff like colonies on Mars.

I will interpret that as you are admitting you have no real basis to accuse Joe Biden of corruption. You are just another right winger expressing your "feels".

Yep. But that half hour walk to the gas station is going to suck - especially carrying 20 lbs of gas back with you. No one I know has an oil pump and a refinery in their garage.

Like my post said, if I converted from gas to electric heat and also needed to charge two cars I would. Actually the furnace conversion alone would require it. Replacing ICE vehicles with EVs is going to require many distribution upgrades. My wife is absolutely not forgoing the AC either. The truth is that transitioning away is great in theory, but will be a long slow process.

I don't know of any houses in.my town that don't have electricity already up and running. The infrastructure is largely there already. Would you? I have 100 Amp in my house. I also have a 30 Amp 240v breaker that I wasn't using (for an A/C that I've never used in 20 years). That adapted nicely to power a 24 Amp level 2 charger. I can put a normal day's worth of electricity back into the battery in 4 hours or so. If I had a 2nd car, both could easily be charged, not simultaneously. Edit to add: Electric cars aren't for everyone. I spent a decent amount of time evaluating what I needed, what I had and how it would fit my life. It looked good on paper, and has worked out well so far.

Right. Just like the 50% increase in EV sales per year is a "collapse of the EV market." And the 40% decline in coal power generation in the US is proof that coal is the future.

He likely takes enormous pride in getting his MBA from the same school that trump did.

You're asking why they're not using wind and solar to build the equipment to build out the infrastructure for wind and solar? Again, Brent makes the case that wind and solar aren't here to support 100% of our energy needs right out of the gate and so they're not viable options. And again I'll ask: did you keep the receipt for that MBA?

All my R/C planes are electric now. I have over 40. Here are a few. I hope you like the USAF Academy's Twotter with jump door.

No explanation is needed. It's a matter of faith don't you know?
