To me, this one is just a really good example of everything that's wrong with authoritarian gun culture. The expectation of perfection in someone else, using tools as an enforcement mechanism, the casual treatment of an already-born child as an inconvenience to be passed around, and the assumption that a gun is an everyday tool to be used casually. Of course, these are the same people who treat a 3000-lb piece of machinery as an extension of themselves and their egos (well, I do that sometimes too, but age is helping with that). It's a complete lack of respect for machinery and other people, other than as a piece of one's world, rather than worthy of their own existence. And she probably thinks abortion is worse. That child saw someone she was supposed to trust point a gun at her and kill her. Wendy P.

A lot of suits. I wonder how many of those were thrift shop purchases?

I would vote for Perris Valley because they have a vertical wind tunnel. Even a few minutes in a wind tunnel will vastly improve your skills when you get to freefall.

Its been true for about forty years that as education goes up the number of kids (fertility rate) goes down.

In recent trips home, it's obvious that the Canadians aren't immune to this either. Speaker's Corner Idiocracy watch-party anyone?

Both Elsinore and Perris are busy DZ's with talented staff. They will be able to enable as much jumping as you can tolerate. Hard to go wrong there. Perris has more and better accommodations than E'nore (restaurant, bunk house, pool) You may also want to consider Davis CA, (though I have little experience with them under non Ray F. ownership) which is a bit closer to OR.

Hey all. Been a while since I been on here. Forgot my password for a couple years until a flashback a couple of weeks ago (thank you Lucy!). Just thought I'd share some wisdom after a recent 4th of July incident. Whats the old saying "nothing more dangerous than skydivers on weather hold"? Anyhoo, for anyone that needs to know launching bottle rockets from the ole butt cheeks on America's birthday can be a dangerous business. So DO NOT DO and if you choose to ignore my advice: #1 - Make sure the buddy whose lighting it is sober and shorten the fuse. DO NOT HESITATE, DO NOT WAIT FOR LIFTOFF, DO NOT CLENCH !! #2 - if hairy do some maintenance first, cannot stress enough. #3 - Ice and aloe, keep nearby Showing up to work with an ass-donut and waddle is no bueno no matter what story you try to sell. I’ve had this happen to me but fortunately it was the first jump of the day on the rig. Ended up landing it with a whole end cell ripped (stupid on my part) it did fly good until 700 feet and partially collapsed on my downwind witch then came my final. Is there a trailer ride from dz to packing area? this is why I hate rentals of anything (cars, boats etc). Depending on the DZ I’d unpack and inspect everything myself prior to jumping.

Hi Robert, And, at my age, I usually say: 'Do you have a senior discount?' Works sometimes. Jerry Baumchen PS) About 20 yrs ago, I was in a bookstore in Naples, FL. As I was buying a book, I asked about a senior discount. She said that they did not do that. Well, duh, it was Florida, no wonder.

Assuming he was a regular smoker he would have taken spare packets - but might these have got soaked in the fall? If he was cold and tense he might have taken some real risks for a cigarette.

One angle that just hit me is the cigarettes.. I have never smoked but smokers need their hits.. When Cooper jumped what was his cigarette supply?? What was the time span for his on hand supply?? Imagine this scenario,,, Cooper using the railroad tracks to get out of the area.. he was low on cigarettes, at least not enough to get through the night. He sees a grocery store and breaks in for cigarettes... then grabs a few other items. Wherever Cooper landed he may have had a limited supply of cigarettes..

Hi Robert. Having worked in contract management for the federal gov't for 30 yrs, IMO approx 85% of all purchases are NOT negotiated. They are a simple low-bid system. Jerry Baumchen

Cooper's first and only priority is to get OUT of the area asap! He isnt going to screw around and waste time doing a break-in to steal new work boots! The store sits just feet from a major rural railroad-highway cross roads that people use all the time. . . . . . and why leave a calling card! COOPER WAS HERE! The information I have is 'the boots were found and returned ... the store owner declined to press charges. ??? There is no file, not even the old call log. The og store owner is long dead. The new store owner loves all the attention but knows nothing...

He was the best. I'm glad I could spend good times with him. Blue skies, Chuck!
