When you stop lying and deluding yourself. The answers will still be the same ones every other country in the world has used to solve this same issue.

Yes. Mostly, at least. Here in the UK, the most recent mass killing was a man stabbing 2 people in the street in Nottingham. Wouldn't even make the news over there.

Yes, the US has supplied $60B of stuff we wouldn't use anyway, good for us. But we are not supplying the arms that would make advancing against Russias extensive defensive works easier. I say no more games, ATACM's should be fast tracked at the minimum. Also, we should suggest "nalevo" that we don't have a problem with an occasional over shoot. More than that we are way behind the PR game in that it is documented that Russia has used cluster munitions since they invaded but because we suck they can get traction saying that we are the start of the problem. Ukraines counter offensive is stalled because they are protecting their troops. That is smart. Let our EU partners hand wring as they have ever done, now it is time to show the it really is the American Century. Let's get after this and get it done.

Honestly, I don't know. How far I'd be in favor of restrictions going isn't a question I have an answer to. 15 or 20 years ago, I'd be totally against them. Today? I don't know. I have seriously mixed feelings on it. It's abundantly clear from other places around the world that serious gun restrictions have not produced the authoritarian governments that many (including me) expected. We are getting some seriously fucked up and fascist shit going on here in the US, even with way too many guns. I DO know that I am no longer a 'single issue' voter, and that gun rights have gone way down on my 'selection criteria' for a candidate to get my vote. Again, 15 or 20 years ago that was not the case. The other thing is... Reality. There's more guns than people in this country right now. The money needed to compensate the owners, even at a fraction of the market value, is insane. It simply isn't there. Someone suggested 10% of the defense budget, but even that wouldn't get all the guns. And there's no way the military, the defense industry or the congress-creatures would go for that. This doesn't even get into the questions of how many gun owners would refuse to surrender their guns. How many would try to fight back (and lose). How many cops would refuse to take the guns away and how much of the military would refuse to participate if ordered (which would be an even bigger issue). I simply can't believe it would happen, unless a whole lot of the US changes. And changes a lot. We're definitely stuck.

The good news is that child molesters get all the sex they could want AND MORE while in prison. Too bad they are "catching" instead of "pitching." CAUTION: dark humor.

So dollars and pennies have a trading value for those killed by gun violence. As everyone has suggested here and elsewhere. The number of guns together with the number of people who can and do posses them must be restricted, reduced. BIGUN is the only progun poster here who has suggested or endorsed restrictions that would make a difference. Both you and Brent play the game that nothing can or should be done. You do it with more finesse. But that makes you even more disingenuous.

I don't doubt that there ARE Abrams tanks in that picture... Somewhere. But the 3 in the front are M60s (I think). And the rows and rows look like m113s and some derivatives (the ones in the 2nd & 4th row are M577 command vehicles). One problem with giving Abrams to Ukraine is that US versions have Depleted Uranium armor. That's an item that cannot beexported. Export versions of the tanks have different armor. So the US tanks destined for Ukraine need to have the DU armor removed and replaced. There's only one place that can do that right now. Various other companies were solicited to do it, but none were able to meet the requirements. So it's going to take some time to make that happen. Also, don't forget that Germany 'dragged their feet' pretty good on the Leopard tanks. So it's not just the US. Plus, the "Freedom Caucus" (Freedom from decency? From Intelligence?) is dead set against helping Ukraine out. Those dipshits keep introducing legislation to halt aid.

The lack of intelligent answers or adult conversation usually only comes from one side. Anyway, to expand on my point - in the UK, criminals find it difficult to get guns, because it's difficult to get guns in general. So most crimes are done with knives, a recent shooting (if you call 2020 recent) was done with an antique revolver with home-made ammunition. Even police here don't usually carry guns, and it's one of the best things I like about the UK. What gun supporters usually reply to the above points is: "well, the British are just a bunch of bootlicker, freedom-hating lackeys" (or some sort of similar insult) "well, even the UK can't eliminate guns 100% so we might as well give up trying, actually, we need MORE GUNS!" "it's in the CONSTITUTION!" So if your reply is one of the above, don't bother.

Air superiority would be great but air defenses may be all the west can do now. We're fighting a proxy war and right now we don't want spillover into Russian territory with our weapons. Maybe later but not now. Long range missiles need to be supplied now that the Ukrainians have demonstrated prudence and that they can be trusted. Maybe I'm just being a curmudgeon but I don't believe any of our allies would have done anything bold without the US backstopping and approving the decision. The Kerch bridge should be gone, agreed, but isn't that an interesting puzzle? Somehow the Ukrainians were able to time it perfectly and blew the roadway just when a train of fuel tankers was crossing on the tracks above. And they got it all so right that the tankers caught fire and destroyed the railway, too. And still no one knows how they did it. They must have some very tricky special forces, no?

Or maybe if you want a more positive spin on thing, name 3 things Trump has done that Jesus would approve of?

Lysne was 48 and I was never able to find Hal’s bio, but there is a photo of him in a 1981 news story and he looks 50ish, so I guess he was roughly 40 in 1971.

I will point out that none other than Ronald Reagan was fervently pro-gun until the Black Panthers started showing up openly carrying guns during their protests. Then Ronnie couldn't sign gun restrictions into law fast enough. Gun advocates do not like being on the other side of that equation.

To present both sides, there ARE some churches that are not so exclusionary and right-wing. Kudos to them.

An old man walked into a high end jewelry store on a Friday evening a few minutes before they were going to close. On his arm was a very young, beautiful, voluptuous, sexy blonde. They walked over to the jeweler and he said, "I want to buy a nice ring for the lady." The jeweler took a ring out of the case and handed it to the old man. He said, "This is nice. How much is it?" The jeweler said, "That ring is $1,000." The old man said, "Can you show me something better? The jeweler handed him another ring. The old man said, "How much is this one? The jeweler said, "That ring is $5,000." The old man said, "I want to see the best ring you have." The jeweler walked back to the vault and came back with a ring and handed it to the old man. "How much is this one?, he asked. The jeweler said, "This is our best ring and it costs $40,000." The old man said, "I'll take it!" The blonde he was with was so happy when she heard this. The jeweler asked, "How will you be paying for this, sir?" The old man said, "I'm going to write you a check. Now I know you will have to check with the bank on Monday to see if the check is good and that's fine. Hang on to the ring and I will stop in on Monday afternoon to pick it up." Then, the old man and the very happy young lady left. On Monday morning, the old man got a call from the jewelry store. The jeweler said, "Sir, there is a big problem. I just got off the phone with your bank and they said that the account your check was written on has no money in it!" The old man said, "Yes, yes, I know.....but let me tell you about my weekend!"
