A reasonable R these days would be one who votes D.
  2. 2 points
Yes, it would. But the position is based on logic, science, common sense, and a belief in self determination. Being pro-abortion keeps no woman from not having the procedure. It does not make abortion mandatory; the anti-abortion position can make no similar claim.

I have a hard time celebrating a former president of the USA being indicted, specially under espionage statutes. It is a dark day and whatever happens, I don't think the fall out is yet well understood. And if it is true that Aileen Cannon is presiding over this case, that is going to make it even worse.

I think you're wrong, yes, and that's the problem. I am completely over the "reasonable Republican" schtick.

Hi Bill, I read about this yesterday. I think this decision(s) by Ford & GM are far bigger than most of us think at this time. This IMO is truly a step in the right direction. Relating to Keith's post, IMO this will become the de-facto standard just as nozzle sizes are now standard. Jerry Baumchen PS) A few months ago, the EU adopted a standard regarding cell phone chargers; much to Apple's chagrin. However, IMO these are the things that must be completed to move the technology forward.

I do. Poor wording on my part. We've had this discussion regarding abortion numerous times on here and the bottom line is: There is no real definitive timeline to say when the the fetus is living. And, until we're able to do that; then it needs to be between a woman and her doctor. No. But, I have to admit that there are times I wonder if both the R's and D's are brain dead. /s

You are confused on a very basic point. There is no "pro-abortion posistion". There is only a pro freedom of choice position.
  8. 1 point
I think that's over parsing the situation. The anti-abortion position holds to every harm caused to any woman and also to the potential harm done to all women. In my opinion, it simply can not be argued that the position does not create a diminution of rights for all women. Worse, it is a position nearly invariably adopted owing to subservience to a particular theological mysticism. Rape is rape even if either of the parties are infertile and the anti abortion position reduces the agency of all women.
  9. 1 point
Yes Bill. I can sum up that posistion easily. Only bad girls and those who have been raped get abortions.

It is mostly Republicans though. Kallend posted the numbers before. The deficits runs by R Presidents absolutely dwarf deficits run by D presidents. If you are really interested in fiscally responsible governing, you would never, ever vote for a Republican president.

How can you not get it? Wendy laid it out clearly and succinctly. We can't do a comprehensive analysis every post, right? Republican economic policy and absurd huge tax cuts for the morbidly rich are the biggest contributors followed closely by Bush's wars. Honestly, when I look at how a minority of selfish, not too smart, demagogues, in low population Christian Red stated are able to hold the nation hostage on so many issues I too think going home and playing video games sounds like a fine plan. The real thinkers aren't on your team, brother, come on over.

Damn. Sounds like a close tie for getting voted off first. :) Preach, sister. I don't get it. It's a steady race to the bottom - politically, financially, globally. It's no wonder the millennials are like - fuck it; I'm going home and play video games.

Two observations:1.If he is tried in Florida then a conviction is surely not a foregone conclusion. 2.Almost none of the MAGA reaction that I have seen claim that he is innocent. They all blame Biden, Democrat weaponisation of the DOJ etc., but no one says he is innocent.

Most manipulative asshole. I’d be proud to voted off. When I first heard about it I thought it sounded so cool. Then I thought maybe it’d be about finding the best leader (which is very different from the best survivalist). But no, it was all about finding who would stand tallest by tearing everyone else down. As far as deficit spending, I’d say that Reagan was the one who really started the ballooning, all while complaining loudly about free-spending democrats. Here is an interesting chart which can be expanded and contracted. Looks to me like Reagan (who did inherit high inflation and had the 1987 meltdown) and then GHW Bush increased the deficit year-by year. Clinton (beneficiary of the tech boom) not only decreased it year by year, he actually ended up with a surplus. GW Bush (who had 9/11 to deal with, and then dealt himself Iraq) did have some reduction in his second term until the meltdown started, then Obama had to compete dealing with the meltdown, at huge cost. But under him the deficit was decreasing again noticeably. Then we have Trump — he’s not entirely in this chart, but dang he ran it up. You see, if you cut income (by, say, reducing taxes), and then either keep the budget steady or increase it, the deficit still goes up. We are addicted as a people to cheap stuff coming easy, no matter who (else) pays and how. Look at our Walmarts and dollar stores, our fast clothing, and our environment. Wendy P.

True, "But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. [7] So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." American voters love republican tax cuts and democrat spending equally. Although they both love military spending. Thats not to say that the entire western world doesn't love piling on debt for their children to pay off. The US is not alone in this regard. But in the last 30 years its shown leadership.

Higher than what you would get. :) This is Biden's critic corner; not Bigun's.

Sounds like a couple ounces of 21 year old El Dorado is warranted. Or in my case a couple ounces of Kirkland Signature Original Spiced Rum. I have to go easy because there is still Georgia election fixing, the hush money, the capital riots. etc, etc.

It's official - we are in a bull market. Now that Biden has ended the uncertainty over a potential default by outmanuevering the GOP, the market has surged back into bull-market territory. Will be interesting to see how the GOP spins this. "The market is clearly showing its appreciation to us for . . . uh . . . . not defaulting the US! We can take all the credit for this. Oh, and Biden drools."

On June 6, 1942, Adeline Gray made the first jump by a human with a nylon parachute at Brainard Field in Hartford. Her jump, performed before a group of Army officials, put the world’s first nylon parachute to the test. The Pioneer Parachute Company of Manchester fabricated the new nylon material, which was developed as an alternative to silk. Working in concert with the Cheney Brothers Company of Manchester and the DuPont Company, Pioneer Parachute developed a material that combined “compactness with lightness, resiliency and strength.” Gray, who was 24 years old at the time of the jump, was from Oxford and worked as a licensed parachute rigger and packer at the Pioneer Parachute Company. She began jumping at age 19 and at the time of the nylon “jump test” had completed 32 jumps and was the only licensed female parachute jumper in Connecticut. https://connecticuthistory.org/first-human-test-of-a-nylon-parachute/#:~:text=On June 6%2C 1942%2C Adeline, nylon parachute to the test. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adeline_Gray_(parachutist)

Are you drunk? Because you are literally making no sense. I have no right to talk about something I’m heavily involved in (including helping to organise BTW), not to mention paying a significant chunk of my salary to support? Going by your argument, if you don’t participate in it then you have even less of a right to talk about it.

I already jump at a regular DZ that is supportive of it and seems to be able to do it without issue. There are rules in place to limit turns to 90 degrees on height loads and you have to do hop and pops to do bigger turns or run the pond. You have to do a Flight-1 course to run the pond and people do regular canopy courses. It works just fine and we have regular canopy piloting competitions, including ones for beginners, attended by spectators. There is a real culture of learning to fly your canopy and we often have entire caravan loads of hop and pops. If you guys are unable to organise a piss up in a brewery by putting similar safeguards in place then I guess complaining about swooping and trying to eradicate it are the only options available to you.

So… not banning it, just basically killing it through inconvenience.

The sport I love is competitive canopy piloting. This entire thread is about banning the sport I love, not keeping it alive.

Good question. Probably not much short term...but then are we gonna go to the next discipline that accounts for a majority of accidents and remove that from USPA? I dont have any of the marketing data for how new tandems make decisions to walk through the door. CP, wingsuiting, and probably wingsuit base on social media probably play a small part. Swooping isnt going anywhere. USPA in my opinion is smart to try to frame it and work with it. Dont want it at your dz? its simple, dont allow it. Problem fixed.
