Anyway the relevant thing is that Clarence is probably the only person here who does drink kopi luwak for the sun deck of Harlan’s yacht, while claiming he prefers Nescafé original with powdered milk, heated on a brazier at the homeless encampment by the underpass.

ME: I'm getting to a point where I'm going to need a top end on the Harley. HER: What does that mean? ME: They take off the heads and barrels here and see if the cylinders, pistons or heads need some work. But, as long as I'm at it; I could change the the 107 to a 124 with a big bore kit. HER: How much is that? ME: A couple of grand. HER: That seems like a lot of money. ME: Well, I'd actually be saving money. See, I already have the competition clutch, high output oil pump, so it'll actually be a couple of grand less. HER: I appreciate your thinking that I'm a part of this decision-making process.

Hi folks, More insanity in Idaho: Idaho patients, including teenagers, have long crossed into Washington state to legally end their pregnancies. New Idaho law creates crime of ‘abortion trafficking’ - oregonlive.com Once again, the Catholics are living in the Dark Ages. Jerry Baumchen PS) I consider Jay Inslee one of the best governors in this nation: In response to potential legal threats, on April 27, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, a Democrat, signed a series of bills barring law enforcement from cooperating with other states’ abortion investigations. Those laws shield medical providers from lawsuits and protect their medical licenses from being revoked.

So my 73-year old mother has been fighting the great fight against cancer for about 6 years. It seems that cancer just recently got the upper hand. I got the word on Friday morning that things were bad. From leaving my house in North Texas @ 5am Saturday to get to Northern Cape Breton was 4 airports, followed by a 6 hour drive and 30-hours total to walk into the hospital and see a literal ring of skin cancer crawling up my mother's neck: far more aggressive and gnarly than it was a week ago, although she's still awake, alert, and bitching at me for cancelling a work trip to come home to see her. I'm not fishing for sympathy and I don't do 'thoughts and prayers'....Just all this to say hug your Mom and get home as often as possible, before the possibilities run dry. Can't help but think that this may be my last trip to Cape Breton. If you'd love to visit one of the most beautiful places in North America, come check it out. The 'world famous' Cabot Trail that people come from all over the world to drive was just 'the road' when we were growing up...never appreciated the beauty of the place when I was seeing it out of the school bus window, but it's definitely one of the most beautiful parts of the world I've had the good fortune to see.

Me (after installing $650 shocks on the Harley and looking at parts on-line): I want to do the front end now, and while I'm going in, I might as well do the chrome lowers and ape hanger handle bars. Her: I thought you said the bike was perfect when you bought it Me: It was! Low miles, good price, great shape. Now it's time to upgrade and make it mine. Her: How much will all that cost? Me: Couple grand. Her: WOW Me: Wait until I upgrade the cam chest! Her: I don't think I want to know what that is. How much? Me: Couple grand. Her: When do I get my kitchen? She's getting it, she knows it. Seems my performance obsession with motors can be seen as selfish. ...looking at some high performance heads too...

Two old friends, Ned and John, lived for baseball. Then one day, John died, leaving Ned inconsolable. A few weeks later, Ned heard someone calling his name. He looked up. Standing on a cloud was his old pal. “Ned,” John called down, “I have good news and bad. The good news is, there’s baseball in heaven!” “Great,” said Ned. “What’s the bad news?” “You’re pitching Sunday.”

Britain has huge numbers of immigrants too. Just walk down any street in London. Yet the rate per 100,000 of gun homicides n the UK is a tny fraction of that in the US (about 1%). In England and Wales in 2021, there were just 31 gun homicides.. In the US there were 20,958 Doe Britain only have 1% of the mental health problems as the US? Texas has about 3x the rate of homicides as NY state. Does Texas have 3x the rate of mental illness? Does living in Texas make you crazier than living in NY?

Yes. One incident involved a large amount of attempted deception. The other involved a stunt that they had applied for a waiver and been denied but did it anyway. Both clearly knew that what they were doing was wrong.

Hi Mark, OK, that reminds me of a sort-of jump story; and this is only a portion of the total story. Which would take me a couple of days to type up. It was either the '71 or '72 USPA National Championships in Oklahoma. Ted Mayfield was driving a big Ford station wagon. In it was 5 jumpers & 2 wuffos. They were on their way back to Oregon. They stopped for gas in the middle of the nite somewhere in New Mexico. Getting gas at the same time was Bill Driver, a jumper also on his way home from the Nationals to Denver. Bill takes off & Ted tries to keep up with him. Pretty soon, Ted sees Bill's taillites all over the road & Bill ends up in the ditch. Ted & company stop and Bill is a mess; the windshield is out, the car is a wreck & Bill has blood all over his face. Bill has hit a horse that was in the road. Ted says, 'Give me beer.' He shakes up the beer, opens it & washed Bill's face off. Ted had been in Special Forces in the early ''60's & learned to do that to look for serious injuries. Another car stopped & they told them to go call an ambulance. After they got Bill into the ambulance, Ted said they would takes Bill's gear & suitcase to his mother in Denver. Then they notice that Bill has a cooler full of beer in his car; so they grab it & head on down the road. After a bit, Ted, who is driving, says, 'Give me one of those beers.' They hand one up to him, he takes a swig & says, 'This tastes like shit.' Another guy, who had one, says the same thing. So they get a flashlight out to see what is wrong. When Bill hit the horse, it shit & all of it ended up in the cooler with the beer. True story Jerry Baumchen

AFAIK, back in the days of the Soviet Union, the money allocated to the military, actually went to the military. As opposed to now, where it gets siphoned on by Putin's oligarch lackeys, to buy yachts and foreign vacation mansions.

I wonder what component of that over-estimation was from the military industrial complex. How much from politicians. How much from analysts that were just incompetent. The current spending spree by western countries to rearm. To build up their military power. All due to this invasion Involves spending in the 2-3 trillion dollar range. Worldwide $2.24 trillion up 34% last year alone. No word yet if Putin has asked for his weapons back from Assad. You know barrel bombs, etc.

Like Russians bombing themselves?? Having grown up during the cold war, it's almost laughable to me to see how incompetent the Russians actually are. Is their Naval fleet still rusting away as well? They seem to have quite an underdeveloped economy thanks to their leaders and oligarchs.

That is true.. firing in the car should not be an issue at all. The concern is the periodic calibration of the "device" (in an attempt to be brand neutral) and the possibility that it could mistaken changes in altitude during the drive and stop updating. I recall, going a bit back now, that more then one jumper had "issues" because they turned their device on at their house which was at a lower altitude then the DZ and they did not reset the device once they got to the DZ, rushed to get on a plane, jumped, had a problem and hit the ground. I think it is bold because if a jumper thinks nothing of driving home with the AAD on, why would they give a second thought about truing it on at home, for what ever reason, and then driving to the DZ which may or may not be at the same altitude, and depending on the speed and grade along the way, it could stop updating the calibration (zeroing itself) and the jumpers first jump would be with a device that thinks the DZ is at a different altitude then it really is. No device should ever fire in a car, unless that car just rolled out of the back of a Cassa.

It has happened. About 15 years ago, we had a really busy week at Beiseker, Alberta (3,000 feet above sea level) then we tossed all the student rigs in a van and started driving towards Vancouver, B.C. at sea level. While driving down a steep mountain pass, all dozen Vigils fired! Kicking Horse Pass is 5,338 feet above sea level. I vaguely remembered them being vigil 1s.
