3 pointsHi Mark, OK, that reminds me of a sort-of jump story; and this is only a portion of the total story. Which would take me a couple of days to type up. It was either the '71 or '72 USPA National Championships in Oklahoma. Ted Mayfield was driving a big Ford station wagon. In it was 5 jumpers & 2 wuffos. They were on their way back to Oregon. They stopped for gas in the middle of the nite somewhere in New Mexico. Getting gas at the same time was Bill Driver, a jumper also on his way home from the Nationals to Denver. Bill takes off & Ted tries to keep up with him. Pretty soon, Ted sees Bill's taillites all over the road & Bill ends up in the ditch. Ted & company stop and Bill is a mess; the windshield is out, the car is a wreck & Bill has blood all over his face. Bill has hit a horse that was in the road. Ted says, 'Give me beer.' He shakes up the beer, opens it & washed Bill's face off. Ted had been in Special Forces in the early ''60's & learned to do that to look for serious injuries. Another car stopped & they told them to go call an ambulance. After they got Bill into the ambulance, Ted said they would takes Bill's gear & suitcase to his mother in Denver. Then they notice that Bill has a cooler full of beer in his car; so they grab it & head on down the road. After a bit, Ted, who is driving, says, 'Give me one of those beers.' They hand one up to him, he takes a swig & says, 'This tastes like shit.' Another guy, who had one, says the same thing. So they get a flashlight out to see what is wrong. When Bill hit the horse, it shit & all of it ended up in the cooler with the beer. True story Jerry Baumchen

2 pointsME: I'm getting to a point where I'm going to need a top end on the Harley. HER: What does that mean? ME: They take off the heads and barrels here and see if the cylinders, pistons or heads need some work. But, as long as I'm at it; I could change the the 107 to a 124 with a big bore kit. HER: How much is that? ME: A couple of grand. HER: That seems like a lot of money. ME: Well, I'd actually be saving money. See, I already have the competition clutch, high output oil pump, so it'll actually be a couple of grand less. HER: I appreciate your thinking that I'm a part of this decision-making process.

1 pointYes. One incident involved a large amount of attempted deception. The other involved a stunt that they had applied for a waiver and been denied but did it anyway. Both clearly knew that what they were doing was wrong.

1 pointAfternoon, Jerry - That kinda gave me the idea for for the post. Thought it would be a good new thread for some enjoyment if others share their funny relationship stories also. I'll add more as time goes on.

1 pointCoffee snob mode engaged. I can't do $15 plastic coffee makers. I'm anti- plastic as much as possible, more so if it needs to be heated. My current favorite coffee maker is our Cuisinart burr grind and brew. Whole beans, erry damn morning. Fresh ground has so much more flavor than pre-ground that's been sitting in a warehouse for who knows how long. I haven't had Folgers since the 70's. Far too similar to McDonald's coffee. blerf

1 pointOnly for a millisecond was I tempted to google 3D tracking. So thanks for that.

1 pointAfter trying some Godoy's coffee years ago, I LOOOOOVE Guatemalan coffee. I tend to buy on-line, not always direct from the farms there though, due to price. No Bonnie situation here. I'm almost the "I buy the gourmet expensive stuff cuase when I drink it, I wanna taste it." But on a budget. I have Harley parts I NEEEEEEED.

1 pointHi Jerry, The problem is that there are a LOT of people who will vote for both of them. Knowing full well what they did and who they are. Saw something after Trump's "town hall" that was something along the lines of: The reason Trump supporters are so loyal, despite his actions is because he acts THE EXACT WAY THEY WANT TO ACT. And gets away with it. He lets them show who they REALLY are, Of course, 'who they really are' is scumsucking racist pieces of shit.

1 pointLike Russians bombing themselves?? Having grown up during the cold war, it's almost laughable to me to see how incompetent the Russians actually are. Is their Naval fleet still rusting away as well? They seem to have quite an underdeveloped economy thanks to their leaders and oligarchs.

1 pointHence, the need for a new southern location of an Ellis Island, or two, or three. We need good citizens, but not criminals.

1 pointSmart immigrants know that the best way to avoid deportation is to stay out of the county jail. Hence the majority of immigrants quietly go to work, don't beat their wives, drive within the speed limit and avoid petty crime.

1 pointI get annoyed easily it seems. My next revelation about my lack of good taste is that I drink a lot of strong black coffee. Almost all of it cheap Folgers robusta. And my AAD is an M2 not a sacred CYPRES or even a Vigil!

1 pointAs though other countries with far fewer gun deaths don’t also have people who struggle with mental health issues. What a stupid red herring. If more guns will make us safer, as Gov. Abbot and other NRA apologists claim, just how many are needed to turn around the trend of more gun deaths each year?

1 pointNow THIS is awesome. Texas Representative Louie Gohmert was whining about how unfair the arrest of Santos was: "If you're a Republican, you can't even lie to Congress or lie to an FBI agent or they're coming after you!" I mean, isn't lying to Congress and the FBI a right protected by the Constitution for republicans? I have no idea how the Onion is still in business with real world statements like this coming from republicans every other day.

1 pointTwice this week, and both in Texas, mothers died covering their one surviving child from the armed man who had just murdered her other child in front of her. But let's hear again how the real threat to kids in the US is drag queens.

1 pointCredit to the UK for such thinking. President Biden is wrong in being so timid in the types of weapons to supply Ukraine.

1 pointAll I had to do, is see the excerpts from the deposition, to know what the outcome would be.

1 pointExcellent. Now some jackass in Louisiana shot blindly at some kids playing hide and seek and hit a 14 year old girl in the back of the head, non life threatening apparently. Shadows scared him into self protection mode. Ridiculous.

1 pointSoooo.. Let me get this straight. You're bragging that the Russians are committing war crimes? Really? And the idea that Ukrainians would use civilians as 'human shields' is probably the silliest thing you've posted (and that's saying something). The Ukrainians could easily have left Bakhmut at any time. They've had solid supply routes into the city for all that they need to slaughter the orcs, they could have left any time they chose. And the idea that the Russians wouldn't attack Ukrainian soldiers if they had 'human shields' is totally ridiculous. The Russians are DELIBERATELY targeting civilians. The orcs have tortured and murdered THOUSANDS of Ukrainian civilians. When they invaded, they has LISTS of civilians to target. Now, if you had said that it was the orcs who were holding civilians to use as human shields, that I might believe. Chickenshit behavior like that is expected from them.

1 pointIs it time to end the free mouthpiece for Putin propaganda. Where an indicted war criminal has paid propagandists spreading misinformation.Lies. Is it time for SC to send Slim packing? To the DZ in the Crimea.

1 pointNo, you didn’t. Why would you think that? Because I answered you? Because I’m female and we get our feelings hurt easier? Because I’m apparently liberal and therefore a snowflake? I’m not aware of anything in my response that indicates emotion, just disagreement with your premise Wendy P.

1 pointSo, and I know the Thoughts and Prayers crowd will be less than receptive, but I’m lately seeing our current situation with our gun laws, and the superior freedoms owned by American gun lovers, as nothing short of oppression. We are oppressed from speaking freely not only in the public square but from even discussing neighborhood issues with the guy next door. Any public shopping venue could be our last time fetching groceries and any history class could be our child’s last. Oppression from enjoying our freedoms by prospect of being summarily executed in a public place it seems is the true, and sadly the latest reality and legacy, of the American experiment.
-
1 pointThat’s a definition from the outside to mock, kind of like calling a Christian an adherent to a sect that practices ritual cannibalism. It doesn’t seek to understand or explain, and says more about the person providing the definition than about what they’re trying to describe Wendy P.
