Nowadays we 'pander' to blacks who think they have all the same rights as whites, we 'pander' to women who think they can vote, we 'pander' to people who think they can own guns, and we 'pander' to gay people who think they can get married. And we will 'pander' to people who decide their own gender. Even if bigots hate all those things. It's that simple.

Reca's an object lesson in the dangers of "sunk-cost." That guy certainly deserved to be considered, but that consideration should have ended with a swift and easy rejection of him as an actual possibility. He should have gotten to live out the rest of his life without that nonsense following him around. Just as VP should have been rejected out of nine-finger hand before his name was ever put forth. At a certain point the opportunism becomes cynicism and even cruelty.

I think it's primarily loss of privilege. What we are seeing here is backlash; same thing we saw after the Civil War, after the black civil rights movement, after women got the vote, after gays got the right to marry and after a black man was elected president. Wikipedia has a good definition of it as applied to race: White backlash, also known as white rage or whitelash, is related to the politics of white grievance, and is the negative response of some white people to the racial progress of other ethnic groups in rights and economic opportunities, as well as their growing cultural parity, political self-determination, or dominance. . . It can also refer to some white Americans' particularly visceral negative reaction to the examination of their own white privilege. . .It is typically discussed in the United States with regard to the advancement of African Americans in American society, but it has also been discussed in the context of other countries, including the United Kingdom and, in regard to apartheid, South Africa. We saw that after Obama was elected. We saw that when Trump was defeated. And now that backlash has been extended beyond race to sexual orientation and gender, as we are now seeing with attacks on trans people.

I think this is a highly unfair attack on Tina. Wondering what her IQ is? That giant book that she has in her hands leaving the plane that night wasn't a bible, it was a big ass biography of Mary, Queen of Scots. I don't think Tina was stupid. I do think she's a bit quirky, but I've never questioned her intelligence. And are we really suggesting that Tina was a liability in a crisis??? I'd say she was the complete opposite of a liability that night. I take her at her word that she never got a really good look at him. She was sitting next to him during much of her time near him and she was probably facing forward for the most part. She said that whenever he spoke to her he was whispering in her ear. It's not like they were sitting across the table from each other. Plus, she did the wise thing and avoided looking at him. She didn't want to provoke him in any way. If you're being mugged the worst thing you can do is stare down the perp. Also, the lights were off in the cabin during much of their later interactions. Flo, on the other hand, stared right at Cooper on multiple occasions. She looked him in his eyes. By my count they had as many as six separate interactions with each other before he even put his shades on.

May 2020 I needed to check that it is possible to carry weight on the foot when flying wingsuit. Combined weight engines, boots, mounting brackets and starter batteries is 13 Kg . My concern was that it will pull legs down and I will stall. I checked it by series of wingsuit jumps while I'm gradually increasing weight attached to the foot. First I attached 4 Kg of weights (packs filled with iron pellets). Jumped, felt normal. Good. Then attached 8 Kg. With 8 Kg I stalled heavily - it was fall rather than flight. On the next attempt I de-arched in order to keep correct pitch and was able to fly wingsuit normally again. Good. Seems that it would be possible to fly with turbines attached to the feet. I had find how to attach the turbines . Key concern was about torsional stress they will apply – their thrust will tend to bend the ankle sideways. Some kind of support was required to avoid it. First “research” version of how to resolve it – I found that tracking shoes did not provide sufficient ankle support. Snowboard boots were better idea – Which leads to implementation looking like this – Engine mounting angle is 18 degrees. In wingsuit flight, legs are stretched apart, this will make thrust vector to be in match with flight direction.
