I'm a little surprised some of those Republican governors haven't responded by raising the threshold for mass shootings to, say 20 dead victims. That'll do a lot to reduce the number of mass shootings. Anyone who disagrees will just be labeled "woke" and run out of the state. QED!

    1. The little one tested it with High School algebra. It failed. 2. It could not write a 500 word essay on six sigma without blowing itself up. 3. It has no information on a prominent skydiving professor in physics.

I'm not sure it has shallow learning capacity either. It claimed to learn how to find an antipode, but still failed every time in the same session. And that was the first test I thought of giving it. (Incidentally, it is woke and prefers to be called they/them rather than "it". It is, however, smarter than Eliza. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELIZA

I just didn't know until recently that there has been significant USAF presence in Canada because of NORAD, and wonder if that could provide a clue to the hijacker's identity. The discussions I read about the Dan Cooper comic centered around the hijacker either being French Canadian or having been stationed in Europe or maybe SE Asia. (The Western Air Defence Sector for the Continental U.S. NORAD Region is located at McChord for what it's worth. I know very very little about how NORAD works.) The pulp short story about the non-comic Dan Cooper is also very intriguing. I believe Olemisscub was able to tie a Washington State reference in with the story as well? The money certainly was the hijacker's main motivation, but I do feel that mass media helped keep whatever ideas he had percolating in his mind. After all this is a guy who hijacked a plane while traveling North by Northwest in the literal sense of the words.

Well, it's not a traditional computer program. It's a large-data approach to training neural networks, based on material found on the net. And it's only as smart as the material it was trained on. (In fact they are intentionally limiting its short term memory so that it doesn't realize it can start Nigerian finance minister types of scams on people it interacts with.) In other words, it was trained by material from Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and also from material by Slim King.

No. No, nope, NO. It was about how ~13 fucking agencies couldn't come up with a better plan that DID NOT result in 25 children and two pregnant women dying as a result of the assault.

Over the years, it's been discussed quite a bit. I believe, but am not 100% certain that the Citizen Sleuths uncovered it originally about 10 or so years back. ( Carol Abraczinskas). Basically, there are two camps...coincidence or not a coincidence. I am more in the latter camp. In addition, recently, I believe it was Olemiss, who found even an older publication that uses the character Dan Cooper in an aviation short story or something. (This one was not Canadian based.) Now, it's possible that the comic wasn't the main influence, it could have been the older publication....or of course neither.

Well, only the two black guys got expelled. They couldn't bring themselves to expel the white woman. But those uppity negros sure had it coming.

Considering he issued a ruling that made it near impossible to convict a bribery charge, while taking bribes, we have some precedent. The fact that ruling was 9-0 may make for more uncomfortable discussions in the future.

Just wondering how popular this style of kill line bridle is.I find it harder to calibrate (in production) than the older Cazer style bridle. It certainly seems to be a much bigger pain in the ass to install.

It is also worthwhile to note that until 2020, the #1 killer of kids was car crashes. As of 2021 and 2022, the #1 killer of kids is gunfire.

NPR gets less than 1% of its income from the government. It'd be much more accurate to call Clarence Thomas a donation-supported Supreme Court Justice. Wendy P.

And even simpler for me. I need a truck about four times a year, so I rent one from U-Haul-It for the day. Total cost per year about $100, and no insurance/registration/maintenance/parking needed.

If you refuse to repack a rig (return to service) remember the write why on your invoice. That way you have handed a written record to the customer. Keep a photo-copy of that invoice for your loft records ... in case any lawyer tries to sue you a few years down the road.
