5 pointsEvening, Jerry. I know what everyone meant, but it was getting close to being mean-spirited with the T's & P's stuff. It's how they grieve. I'm really angry about this one. It's going to be a political bullshit volley of weapons vs. the child was a trans, Biden calling for an Assault weapons ban INSTEAD of both aisles developing a Gun Owner Responsibility Bill. We have the money for TSA which is a joke, but not money to secure our children in school. It's all theater. Keith

3 pointsThe point IS: Every state that has enacted permit-less (open carry) has had a mass school shooting in less than a year after it passed. The point IS: There is NO criteria restricting the use of carrying any specific type of weapon. Once its open carry; you can carry anything, cause ya know its your fuckin right to off children. And, before you start the looky looky, ban assault weapons - that is a silly premise. Every weapon is an assault weapon. It's what they were designed to do. Assault. Until America wakes the fuck up and realizes we need owner responsibility that is mandated (because God knows your fucking freedom is more important than a child's life) And, the dems will decry the almighty AR-15 or repeal the 2nd which will only raise more fucking money and the reps will blame trans and every fucking thing else until more children are fucking dead. Rinse. Repeat. How many times are we going to let this record skip before we change the tune. That's the fucking point. A complete Gun Owner's Responsibility Bill. Ownership tracking from cradle to grave, weapon education and recurrency, proper storage, 10 years for use of a gun in the commission of a crime (bet domestic violence with a gun would go way down), etc. etc. we can discuss it more with the next fucking school shooting, cause ya know . . . we'd rather spend more time typing on SC than spending a few minutes writing in the text box to our congressional and senatorial leadership. Get it, now?

2 pointsUSA appears to be the only country on the planet willing to supply innocent virgin life the some sort of a god to "protect" them with the deaths of those sacrificed. Sounds like it came from religion. Are we living in Zardoz? "The gun is good, the penis is evil." Now we must sacrifice more children to Zardoz. NEXT! I am never going to understand how America moves backwards. Life expectancy is shortening, we have no proper medical care, we sacrifice innocent children to gods of guns, flat out ignorance regarding deadly health issues, and we clearly we prefer hate to love. We are not a land of freedom, we are a land of violence and hatred. It's disgusting. More so to see people actually embrace it. USA IS a third world country. WE are the shithole country our previous traitor President referred to. What happened?
-
2 pointsOther than the ready availability of guns, what differences do you see between the USA and every other wealthy western nation that might correlate with their large differences in gun violence rates.
-
2 pointsIf that is the case then Americans have to significantly more fucked up than most other people around the world. Does hat make sense to you, that Americans just aren't mentally as strong as the rest of the world? Or, could it be that Occam's Razor would suggest that maybe something as simple as the easy availability of firearms has an impact on the use of firearms?
-
2 pointsAccording to a creationist website, sure. But again, I seriously doubt that Helsinki U's Theology department is filled with either. Don't you? If you view yourself as the correct amount of clever, then I understand why you would think that.
-
2 pointsThe 29% that think he did something 'unethical' think it was something 'wrong', but not 'illegal'. He's a hell of a good conman. Always has been. There's also the fact that there are a LOT of people that admire that sort of behavior. Stealing? Assaulting women? Mocking the weak? Calling people rude names? Openly racist, bigoted & misogynistic? Many of his supporters aspire to that sort of thing. They admire him because they want to do it too.
-
2 pointsWould these be the same people who, despite all the evidence to the contrary, think more guns means less gun violence?
-
2 pointsHi Keith, I was writing my above response as this came in. I disagree, we need a Supreme Court to re-define what can be allowed; with a modicum of common sense. Jerry Baumchen
-
2 pointsI understand. Please understand there's "many a" Democrat, gun-toting, Christian. As long as we continue to point at who's saying it rather than why we need it _as a nation_ and get both aisles to sit the fuck down and talk with each other and not at each other. Nothing. We been talking about this logically for years now, but our politicians are just fucking inept. Both of ours.

1 pointJeremy Mahoney passed away on March 13, following a massive stroke. He leaves behind his grieving wife of 35 years, Kathie, his Air Trash teammates, and many, many friends throughout the So Cal skydiving community. Jeremy's formal service will be at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:00 on Friday May 26, with full military honors. His ash dive will be at Skydive Perris the afternoon of May 27th. Please join us if you can for Jeremy's Life Celebration, and please help to get the word out to his many friends. If you have photos of Jeremy, Kathie would love to get them; please PM me. Fly free my good friend, fly straight and true to that BFR in the sky!

1 pointGunther says that Cooper went to an air show that had skydivers in it while in LA. One of the skydivers was the brother of his girlfriend. The guy then let Cooper do a free fall skydive. Cooper then eventually asks a pilot friend about jumping from a jet. The pilot says you could drill a hole through the floor of the plane or something like that. I’m not sure how all that was conflated into being the Elsinore Ghost story.

1 pointThen why are so many named after losers? Some Americans fully support losing and losers, to the point of insanity. Have you seen our elections??

1 pointIt does make sense and if it could be implemented it would help somewhat. However the ever beloved 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the USA is fairly clearly written. I don't think that SCOTUS has interpreted it incorrectly at all. Until the political climate changes enough to allow some sort of adjustment to the constitution his proposal is really not possible. And that does not even begin to touch on the fact that his proposal relies on people being responsible. There are already many laws against shooting other people in anger or desperation. People are still going to be people and if they have what they see as the tool needed to carry out their desire right there beside them a small number of them are going to commit atrocious crimes. It truly is a small number, but it has a big effect. Again, the only answer is less guns, there is no way around that simple fact.

1 pointSo name it after Robin Hood. Saves a lot in new signage and everyone likes him except the evil Sheriff.
-
1 pointAmerica values guns and death more than it will ever value children's lives. Thank you to the brave parents who willingly send their innocent children off to be slaughtered for the god of guns. Fucking insanity. We're failing ourselves and our future.
-
1 pointRegardless of R or D, I genuinely don't understand how anyone can have a favourable opinion of him? Anyone with even a modicum of intelligence can see that he's a liar - he often gives two opposing views in the same sentence. He's openly bigoted, clearly not the sharpest sandwich in the six pack, and a deeply cruel person. Course, I may just have answered my own question.

1 pointFunnily enough I don’t think anyone is trusted with those things all on their own without comprehensive, multilayered systems of certification, regulation and oversight. I wonder if there’s some kind of lesson there…

1 pointGunther explains it in the book.. contacted the FBI late summer 1972,, and Himmelsbach acknowledged sharing info with Gunther (interview).. probably where he got some of the inside stuff... Plus, Himmelsbach got the Clara letter...

1 pointHi Keith, Re: our politicians are just fucking inept. Both of ours. Far too much of a generalization to be taken serious. With some politicians, yes for both parties; i.e.: - Dianne Feinstein should have been sent into retirement 20 yrs ago - Donald Trump should never have been elected President We both could go on for a very long time. For me, it is the same way with T's & P's. For some people, this is very sincere & appreciated. For too many, it is a vacant gesture. Jerry Baumchen PS) Re: get both aisles to sit the fuck down and talk with each other If only. PPS) If anyone thinks that politics frustrates me [ it does ]; well, I just got a Universal Remote to cover all my 'not a lot' electronics; now, that is a frustrating learning curve. But, I am getting there.
-
1 pointC'mon, Joe. You know me better than that. And, you've read all my suggestions including adding ten years with no parole if a weapon is used in the commission of a crime. Which some from your tribe said was a bit much.
-
1 pointI'll put our morons up against yours any day, thank you. But the thing that is too delicate for some sensibilities to discuss is what motivates our respective morons. For Republicans too often that is their Christian beliefs. Just reality.
-
1 pointHi Keith, Speaking for myself only: ABSOLUTELY NOT. As I just started watching my local tv news with this story, I was thinking: No matter what your beliefs are, this is tragic & wrong. Jerry Baumchen

1 pointI mean it isn't good, but it also isn't close to guns. Sauce: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/12/14/magazine/gun-violence-children-data-statistics.html

1 pointIts a religious school. They've got LOTS of prayers. Not sure about the 'thoughts', but prayers aren't a problem there. From the story: Apparently we've gone from 'I never thought this could happen' to 'I never thought it could happen to ME'.

1 pointThis terrible news. Jeremy was my friend and mentor when I first came to Perris. We worked in the Para center loft together for several years and were next door neighbors in the ghetto. Very sad, condolences to all who knew him. Mick.

1 pointMore than 1,600 children were shot dead in 2022 in the USA. WTF?
-
1 pointIn a fairly groundbreaking case, the parents of the Oxford shooter (Ethan Crumbley) are being charged with involuntary manslaughter for providing their troubled and violent son access to weapons, and not getting him help when he showed signs that he would become violent. A few days before the shooting, teachers at Crumbley's school found a drawing of someone shooting guns with the caption "The thoughts won’t stop help me" . Teachers showed this to his parents and told them to get him counseling within 48 hours. They did not, and further they purchased new weapons and left them in unlocked storage. Crumbley also brought live ammunition to school to show to his classmates, and brought in a severed bird head to show as well. He also posted the (by-now usual) threats on social media. This will be an interesting case, since the "well, why punish responsible gun owners?" argument won't fly here - but at the same time, gun enthusiasts will likely be aghast at the idea that they could be held responsible for not securing their weapons against a known risk.
-
1 pointThank you Squeak saying that and thank you DFWAJG for starting this thread. That thing that did that was not the Billy we used to know. Let this be a place to celebrate whom he was previously, not what he became and did at the end. Blue Skies… asstrumpet. ☹️
