So like I said to begin with, it’s anti-woke people trying to redefine woke to mean any lefty thing they disagree with. Glad we won you round to that. Upthread you said cancel culture was an extension of wokeness. Do you wanna make your mind up then get back to me on that? Yes, exactly! This is the intention of the anti-woke people. Just because they’re dishonest doesn’t mean they’re not good at what they do.

Thought modification may be an unintended consequence, but it is all about behavior modification….specifically the behavior of keeping your eyes on the screen as long as possible so there’s more opportunity to serve you ads.

Just like Ukraine is getting support from the Western world, the legit contributors of this forum should get support in the form of permanent bans of blatant trolls.

The Canadian parliament, the UK parliament, is the same. There are stupid politicians and ones that only know theater. But there are intelligent and honest ones who usually end up on committees. They get the real work done behind closed doors.

No, Phil. The video of Lee was from 2010 when he made the exact same proposal for sunset that Biden did. The difference being; the video of Lee was a snippet of what they wanted you to hear - the GOP is trying to end Social Security et.al. They did not show the rest of what Lee had said in that video about sunsetting them; cause . . . it's all theatre and sound bites. Both sides have proposed sunset legislation on Medicare, Medicaid and the VA. Each side makes it sound like it's bad when the other side proposes it. Basically, a guaranteed funding for the next five years without either side being able to use it as a weapon against other budgetary considerations (debt ceiling). Then, they evaluate the effectiveness, cost, etc. of the program in five years. It's all fucking theatre, man.

That post is almost 20 years old; the Cypres being spoken of there is out of date and has been replaced by the Cypres 2 Wendy P.

“It will be my objective to phase out Social Security, to pull it up by the roots and get rid of it,” Ok dude, you should probably show us that context because right now it seems… unlikely that he was just talking about sun setting, yeah?

I just turned down an offer from Gargle to "Enhance my browsing experience" for more focused search results based on my history. I think that's code for, Ads that are consistent with your searches. :) Too bad they didn't have an "Unbiased" button.

Yeah - that wiki article paints a sad picture of a once decent journalist who has, over several decades, slid deep into a world of fantasy and conspiracy.

Why should Ukraine negotiate with a man who has NEVER kept to an agreement in the past? Putler agreed to leave Ukraine to the 1991 borders in the Budapest memorandum. Obviously, the idea that Ukraine would not allow his hand-picked puppet to rule them was enough for him to invade back in 2014. He 'promised' last year that he wasn't going to invade. Biden told the world that he was lying. And was right. Ukraine isn't going to negotiate with murderers. They haven't forgotten the Holodomor. The behavior of the orcs starkly reveals what would happen if Ukraine were to surrender. The thing is, they don't have to. Russia has pretty much lost. It's mostly a question of how many defeats it's going to take for them to accept that fact. They don't have '300,000 troops standing by' They're drafting 60 year old grandfathers. They're 'recruiting' convicted criminals out of prison. And they're losing. They're throwing untrained 'soldiers' at prepared Ukrainian positions in human wave attacks, where they get slaughtered like sheep. Of course, the Russians have 'barrier troops' behind them during the attacks, to shoot their own soldiers if they try to retreat. Some reports have suggested that Wagner recruited 50k prison convicts. And lost 40k of them killed, wounded, captured or deserted. Similar reports have claimed that Russian conscripts are lasting mere days in Ukraine. From entering the country to dying, being wounded, captured or deserting is often a week. Russia is buying drones from Iranian manufacturers. They're buying artillery shells from North Korea. They're using tanks made in the 60s. Their "Black Sea Fleet" is afraid to leave Sevastopol. Russia is totally screwed. They're losing their people, they've lost much of their armor. They've lost most of the little transport capability they had. And that wasn't much. Fun fact: World War 2 ('Great Patriotic War') saw a LOT of gear given to the Soviets. While the Soviets made thousands of armored vehicles and millions of guns (from large bore artillery down to pistols), they made virtually ZERO trucks. So they depended completely on the allies for ALL of their logistical capacity. They didn't learn much in the 70 years since, because their logistics in Ukraine are shit. No food, no ammunition, no nothing. That's one of the reasons the orcs have looted everything in sight. Ukrainian artillery (US made HIMARS) is destroying any supplies they manage to get near the front. They've thrown away their future too. They've ruined ALL of the markets for their arms. Nobody's going to buy their garbage, now that it's clear how shitty it is. Nobody's every going to be afraid of them again. A very realistic future includes China taking Siberia. Russia won't be able to defend it. They won't have the troops or equipment. And Putin (if he's still alive, which is pretty unlikely) won't be able to go to the international community for help. If he went to the UN, he'd get laughed out. I don't think it's unrealistic to see a world where Russia ceases to exist in the next 5 years. Kruschev claimed 'We will bury you!!!'. Right. Sure. Putin has thrown all that down the toilet.

I don't support defunding the police. I do support REfunding the police, and dividing them into enforcement and public assistance divisions. Get more mental health professionals to deal with psychotic homeless people. Get more workers trained at de-escalating domestic violence cases, which are some of the hairiest calls untrained police face. Bank robbery? Send the enforcement division. Crazy homeless guy in a Wal-Mart? Get the public assistance division. Domestic violence case? Probably need one of each.

You wouldn't. Not to anyone who's taking the subject seriously. That's where you are 100% exactly wrong. More funding to the police does exacerbate the problem, because so many municipalities funding the police already don't have the money to do any damn thing else because they're paying so much for the police. Like the 9-year old girl with emotional problems who was handcuffed then pepper sprayed in the back of a cop car after police were called for her protection. The city could pay for 6+ squad cars and a score of officers to respond, plus the enormous cost of defending then settling the inevitable lawsuit but it can't afford one social worker to be available for children in her situation in the first place. those things are very much linked. When communities aren't spending so much money on the police and can therefore afford social workers, they don't need to send so much money on the police because they're not paying them to spend half their time being shit social workers.

Ah so cancel culture is only in those specific items. Trying to cancel Disney or M&Ms is like totally different.....

The bit that seems too much to grasp here is that human migration has been creating border crises for maybe 100,000 years now. How is the fact it is still ongoing and only slightly localized suddenly so egregious? I really wouldn't have pegged you for a NIMBY sort.

The outside US news is full of the bit where Biden made them all look like amateurs with the SS and Medicare trap. It's hilarious to watch.
