The outside US news is full of the bit where Biden made them all look like amateurs with the SS and Medicare trap. It's hilarious to watch.

I don't support defunding the police. I do support REfunding the police, and dividing them into enforcement and public assistance divisions. Get more mental health professionals to deal with psychotic homeless people. Get more workers trained at de-escalating domestic violence cases, which are some of the hairiest calls untrained police face. Bank robbery? Send the enforcement division. Crazy homeless guy in a Wal-Mart? Get the public assistance division. Domestic violence case? Probably need one of each.

Funny thing: Virtually everyone using 'woke' these days is an 'Alt-right' type using it as a pejorative.

Religion has always been the excuse. The real reason has always been a desire to control women

It shouldn't be. In fact, I'm disappointed Jewish hospitals haven't initiated something similar, considering the Jewish views on when life begins (not at conception). If the extremists want to cite their "Christian" values as the reason to ban abortion, then all other religious arguments for the contrary are absolutely on par -- including TST.

Agree. he should have done better. A NYT take on it: President Biden Is Not Backing Off His Big-Government Agenda He could have set a more pro business take on it. Instead of pandering to the Dem. base. His poor approval ratings are almost all due to inflation. His bi-partizan infrastructure bill will continue inflationary pressures. Even though it was largely needed. He could have gone after the middle America voter. The ones that voted GOP in midterms. Instead it seemed as if he wanted to defend his tribe. Oh well

That really was masterfully done. Still think Biden running in 2024 is a mistake.

I particularly liked her choice of an old costume from "Cats" to complete the effect. What a joke.

Not too long ago lawmaker would get censured for that. Shows how far decorum has fallen. Politicians are not lawmakers anymore, they are influencers.

Is it? Why? If you want effective social work programs as well as effective law enforcement agencies then you support defunding the police.

Hi folks, I realize that this article should not get anyone running in the neighborhood shouting, 'We won.': Federal judge says constitutional right to abortion may still exist, despite Dobbs - POLITICO However, IMO it does give us some hope of sanity in the future. Jerry Baumchen

Nope. Woke has always been defined as being alert to social injustice, especially with regards to racism. That hasn't changed. You don't get to redefine words when you are losing an argument - even if the right wing wants to use it as a pejorative.

There is an odd connection... Loren Coleman, a cryptozoologist and the Bigfoot expert who posted the deconstructed solution to the DB Cooper FBI Playboy letter, postmarked Dec 1st 1971, the solution in 2011 was signed Al Di... Loren Coleman deleted it from his blog/website. Loren Coleman has written books and long promoted the Patterson film for financial gain.. Patterson's brother-in-law Al DeAtley (died 2019) was one of the key people involved in the Patterson film hoax.. outlined in earlier Patterson film hoax post. My theory is that the same group that did the Patterson film hoax also did the DB Cooper Playboy letter hoax.. Dec 1, 1971... One of them leaked the solution and it was posted by Loren Coleman in 2011 under the name Al Di,,, aka Al DeAtley. (one document says Al D, another Al Di) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tS_XP7GekGlB8idOZUK3ffGgcdUyfe3ipR5hFm0p3vY/edit?hl=en_US

Actually there is no cost for FAA paperwork to do the actual jumps. The procedure for a specific jump approval is just tedious and time consuming but, other than the time invested, there is no cost. There was a large, one-time, cost for the approval for flight with door removed, flight testing, and the interior configuration. The term for the airspace involved is actually RVSM, which is Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums, which requires very special digital altimeters, special auto-pilot, and other equipment for flights above 28,000'. As the aircraft is used for nothing but these jumps, and would not be practical for normal jump operations, the cost of operation must be absorbed by a limited number of customers who can afford such jumps. There are many things that are not available to the average person, or skydiver, due to cost and that is why everyone does not own a Ferrari, go to the ISS, and live in mansions. But, there are some that can and do. A private citizen went to the ISS, cost him 28.5 million. An 18 year old went up in Bezos rocket for the 15 minute flight, cost 2.8 million. Virgin Galactic ride to the edge of space sold out 800 slots for $250,000 each, now the ride costs $450,000. Very special things take very special money. Michael Mullins

We have recorded data on oxygen saturation on actual jumps from 41,000' and 15,000', both in the aircraft and in freefall. The jumpers from 41K have a higher oxygen saturation with their supplemental oxygen than the jumpers from 15K without supplemental oxygen. To my knowledge, we are the only ones to record such data. Actual data and experience trumps theory and speculation. We will continue to record such data. Our systems, both onboard and freefall, provide much more oxygen than is required by the generally accepted formula of 1 LPM per 10,000', and we check all the systems with a flowmeter prior to each jump. New Mexico county commissioner and Cowboys for Trump founder removed from elected office for role in US Capitol riot The ruling was the result of a lawsuit seeking Griffin's removal, which alleged that he violated a clause in 14th Amendment of the Constitution by participating in an "insurrection" against the US government. Refreshing to see a court take the 14th Amendment seriously.
