5 pointsThis used to be a interesting thread about current developments in the war. I have to say that the trolls ability to shit all over almost every single topic in this forum is impressive. Not impressive in a good way, but still impressive.

3 pointsI have done the research and this website hates Floridians. I suggest leaving.

3 pointsIf you have problems with war, I would suggest you stop voting republican and stop supporting the ongoing idolization of the military in the US.

2 pointsProbably your best choice. To be fair, this is a rather common desire among a LOT of jumpers and pilots. The smart ones ask more experienced people what's involved and what needs to be done to accomplish them safely and legally. "Bandit Jumps" (search that term for a lot more info) can be a lot of fun. It's not that they can't or shouldn't be done. It's that done badly, they generate a lot of negative attention to the sport.

2 pointsUPDATE - As of Sept 18th 2022, I did take the B-license test and passed it. For the one's who has stepped forward to help me study, I what to say thanks.

2 pointsHi Jim, 'Back in the day,' at different times, I owned two Sentinels. One was built into an altimeter & the other, later version, had just an On/Off switch. Back then a few other guys had Sentinels also. Every one of them was set at the factory to fire at 1,000 ft AGL when zeroed out. Now, that is not to say that, upon request, Snyder might set one at a higher firing altitude. Jerry Baumchen

1 pointIt does make sense if Cooper for some time wanted to leave his family and disappear.. another clue is that the letter was sent to Gunther's old address, suggesting perhaps the writer had written to Gunther in the past.. an avid reader of True Magazine. but I still believe if it was a hoax it wasn't Gunther but Cooper/Clara... It is really hard to figure this out since you can't take anything too literally.. all participants have a motive to deceive or embellish.

1 pointIn 1969 a rally in Bethel, NY attracted 400,000. I don't recall anyone making the argument any of the people on stage deserved to be installed into political office.

1 pointMan I was just in Portland late last year; walked around, went places, and had a lovely time. Yes, there were homeless around. So? There were probably bigots around, too Wendy P.

1 pointInteresting, just playing this hypothetical out, Do as in Dolores ? Does that explain why the "o" or whatever the letter is, is offset to the right a little ? i.e. it's the 2nd letter of a word following the first letter D ?

1 pointI could be 100% wrong, but I think BPA has the teeth of law, whereas USPA has the consensus of the ruled.

1 pointEspecially when he was the coach at Auburn. Bama would have been even more so. And otherwise, I agree down the line. I read an article about the LA council president. She resigned as president; from what it sounds like she said, she should resign from the council as well. It was well past most reasonable lines. One of those comments is bad, but can be taken out of context. The whole series, together? It's like rich country club dudes talking about "them" (pick: women, blacks, Jews, Italians) at various times in history. Wendy P.

1 pointYou said the Russians had legitimate goals in Ukraine and that they’d stop fighting as soon as they achieved them. Were you lying then or now? That’s one of the most despicable things you’ve said that. Russia is torturing and murdering Ukrainian citizens in every settlement they control. Give them ‘peace’ and full control of Ukrainian regions and many more will die needlessly.

1 pointHas not been attempted lol I was just curious but I do appreciate everyones advice probably wont be doing it though

1 pointi forgot my rigger had done this as I hadnt asked him to. (i think it's a general advisory now). he did tell me he had but i forgot and returned it to him because it was flashing "E". *facepalm* on the subject of WL - BS in the uk have implemented a new minimum canopy size chart by jump numbers a la francaise.

1 pointWho’s guessing? I’m glad you appropriately labeled Putin a warmonger though. Appeasing him to get him to stop being one is the same as handing the school bully your lunch money in hopes that he’ll stop bullying. The US killed far more with conventional weapons firebombing Tokyo btw, but if you want to discuss WW2 you should probably start a different thread.

1 pointMaybe you and I have communicated positively on other sites. But here you talk in circles and try to come across above everyone else, with words like zeitgeist and parsimony and philosophical theories. That is typical of the case where people really have no piece of their own and they want to be part of the case, so they find things to disagree with people about. Your username is new which makes me think it’s a throwaway and you probably have others. I’ll stick with communicating with the regulars on here who don’t have an option to post on other boards. That’s my main reason for being here, to interact with Flyjack and Georger. To clarify. The letter to Gunther says to wish a happy birthday to Clara on March 2nd. Dan Clair’s wife at the time was born on March 2nd. First wife. Second. Tenth, it doesn’t matter. His current wife’s birthday was the same as the one in the letter. That is quite a coincidence. A letter wishing happy birthday to someone’s wife on the exact day of her real birthday? You don’t find that unusual? Dan Clair’s wife and Dan LeClair’s wife share a birthday That’s unusual given that he could have chosen 365 other birthdays. Keep talking in circles.

1 pointIn a DC3, it might have been long enough ago to have been a spring-loaded pilot chute. A little more sporty, that. Wendy P.

1 pointWe actually could give Putin a small token of what he wants. I'd be willing to chip in towards a one-way plane ticket so our resident troll could go to Russia and volunteer to help rid the world of that Ukranian Nazi. Anyone else? Putin would get another iota of cannon fodder, maybe that one Ukranian Nazi will be found and eliminated and then Putin could end his warmongering, and our troll could enjoy a non-democracy that is apparently more to his liking. So much winning! To be honest, though, I have thought on multiple occasions that our troll is actually in Russia, or at least on Putin's payroll.
-
1 pointIf it's just a matter of reclosing the main container and restowin the pilot chute, I'd be mostly ok with that. In a DC-3, you have plenty of time. There wouldn't be any rush to close it fast.

1 pointIt can be done legally. If can be done safely. But for a jumper who's never done this before (assumption on my part), and a pilot who's never done this before (another assumption on my part), out of a plane that isn't really properly configured for jump operations... Probably not.
-
1 pointDown 27%. Compare that to the GWB recession in 2008, which was 37%. 2008 was probably within your lifetime. Of course you may only be 14 years old, which would actually . . . explain a lot.
-
1 point^This. Big time. If you don't know what you are doing, find a mentor. From the way you are asking, you don't really know what you are doing (this is an observation, not a criticism). If the pilot hasn't done this before, find a mentor. It can be done safely. But there are a lot of pitfalls. If you don't know what those are, they can easily kill you.

1 pointAnd understand that people jumping on non-standard (demo and informal demo, like into picnics) jumps have a higher fatality rate, at least as of 10-15 years ago. I went through them looking for common causes and to try to crunch some numbers (too many conflating variables, and I’m not good enough using statistical tools), and the only thing that looked really clear was that about 5% (I think) of the fatalities were on demo-like jumps, and far fewer than 5% of jumps are likely demos. Wendy P.

1 pointI'll weigh in. Mainly because I've been part of two such bandit jumps out of 172's -- in both cases, as a watcher, not a jumper. The pilot was not experienced enough for me to be OK with the idea now (undoubtedly less than 100 hours, but there wasn't a commercial requirement for jump pilots then), but we were 21 then, and the plane was rented (really bad idea). And when you're 21, what can possibly go wrong? Obviously no NOTAM was filed. It was very hard to force the door to stay open enough for the jumper to get out of the airplane; since we didn't pay any attention to the altimeter in the plane, I have no idea how much (if any) altitude was lost, and how it affected exactly where the airplane was flying. The jumper scraped his gear all over the edge of the door. There was also a walk back involved, since obviously it wasn't a carefully spotted load. One was over a field, the other over a large-ish barrier island in Texas. Just considering that round parachute exiting that close to water kind of gives me the willies now. So while I can assure it's possible, and has, in fact, been done, there's a reason why most pilots don't want people getting out of their airplanes in flight. It takes a good pilot to manage the changes in CG and attitude when people are moving around, especially if they're outside the airplane. And experienced jump pilot would be a good person for your friend to talk to. Wendy P.

1 pointThe folks who have responded have it right. In summary... Modern canopies take longer to open Average aircraft today climb higher (no need to squeeze every second of freefall) Some jumpers are setting their AAD activation altitude higher Honestly, I have never been a guy to dump at the bottom. There's nothing down there but trouble.
