When I said you don't care about the US and you only care about liberals losing you called that a strawman. Here you prove me right rather nicely. You don't care about your country, you just want to feel superior.

That's your party and the longer you support them the worse these things are going to get.

Thanks for the reply. I'll make a few random comments but I really think the common ground will remain elusive. For example, you asked if we should include the M-1 Garand. You know that really doesn't fit the idea and it doesn't use a detachable high capacity magazine. If you need to go back to WWII you'd have been better tossing out the Stg 44. Yes, you can tape magazines together but why do you need a 10 round magazine in the first place? And honestly, while I concede they should be allowed, why does anyone need a semi-automatic to hunt game? Because if you wound it you might piss it off? Maybe instead be a better shot or hunt less irritable and more edible game. My last day Elk hunting I watched a complete jackass unload his semi-automatic rifle into a huge buck that was at least 300 yards distant. Yes, he eventually killed the poor thing, too bad it wasn't deer season. The argument about the suffering of the innocent who just want to own ridiculous firearms will never resonate with me. Pretty much 99% of the people who do anything aren't the problem so, to my mind, it's a pointless point. And to close out, those manufacturers were acting just as legally as the opioid manufacturers and just giving the market what they wanted. That doesn't make it right or good for society.

Thanks, but no, not my credit. See NickyB's post #57354 above. He cites a Gene Bland as having that idea the day after the hijacking. I just confirmed that such was possible.

"Open border policy backfires as Hispanics move to the Right" Why are you Always wrong? TODAY: Three fifths of all Latinos believe that the republican party is comprised of racists. Ninety percent believe that dreamers should get citizenship. Two thirds oppose the border wall. Three fifths believe is stricter gun laws. Two thirds believe that abortion should be legal in most situations. SC should have an award for the most dedicated FOX loving poster I nominate you.

Liberalism equals progress. Only a conservative could think that progress is bad. Conservatives embrace regression, mostly because they are fearful.

The folks who had been "operators" of the DZ are no longer in the picture . However LONG Time airport OWNER and Original DZO John King, Still owns the place, Still calls the shots, Still has a dedicated following of certain staff members and Fun Jumpers. The airport has always Been and Still IS a DZ.. J.King simply stayed busy with Other things, and "subbed Out" the Running of the skydiving part to others... Word through the grapevine IS of the Likelihood that a C206 will soon offer the opportunity once again , for jumpers to Enjoy the Great views and Good Vibes of a Skydiving Venue with 40+ years of Parachuting History. So No worries, wmw999 jimmytavino in Rochester. :-)

Sorry to hear about your accident. Based on your account of the events I think there is a good chance that the RSL didn't activate your reserve, and played no role in the reserve malfunction. You could look at the reserve cable, they often get a kink in them when there is a RSL initiated reserve deployment. But like you say in the quote before, you pulled the reserve handle, or at least that is what I interpret your comment "reserve deployment" to mean in that sequence. This sounds like a pilot chute in tow, or potentially a pilot chute that is stuck in the low pressure burble above you or even sucked right on to your container. Pchapman's has a good potential account above for the PCIT scenario. You did the right thing to initiate emergency procedures. What happens next is a bit of luck. Once the reserve is deploying the main container may stay closed if there is a misrouted or pierced bridle, or it may open up and the main may start deploying because having the reserve tray open and the reserve out relieves some pressure and tension on the main container which allows the closing pin to finally clear the closing loop. There may be things that you could have done differently, or it could have just been a spot of bad luck. You may never be able to determine exactly what happened here but you can talk with your instructors and experienced skydivers to help avoid it in the future. Know your gear, ensure that is is properly maintained, properly configured, and operate it correctly. Practice your emergency procedures. Review how you will respond to different circumstances. Plan your jumps from take off all the way till you are back safely in the packing area. Build awareness about what other skydivers are doing. You may also want to talk about your accident with a therapist who specializes in traumatic accidents and events. Having an accident, especially one that has many questions, can leave you with a lot of mental stuff to process.

If it wasn't a "BASE" rig, would you have had a problem with it?. It's a harness and a canopy. Is there actually an FAA law against "BASE Gear", or is it something about not having a second canopy? Would you have still talked to the FAA about it if he had a belly mount reserve on? I know a balloon is technically an aircraft, but come on.

What can the FAA do to the jumper? Take away a FAA license that the jumper doesn't have? The FAA could get the balloon pilot in serious trouble, though. That would definately accomplish the goal of screwing someone contacted for a professional service that may not understand the differences between a BASE rig and a sport parachute rig. Would the jumper care about the balloon pilot? Of course not, obviously the jumper doesn't care already by wanting to do what he wanted to do. That would have been a better battle for the S&TA to fight. Grounding the jumper or removing the jumper from the boogie. So basiclly the point of this post is to brag about how you pulled in the FAA to solve a problem that is better suited to be taken care of by the DZ's (or in this case) boogie's staff and to name drop a FAA officials name. I firmly believe that safety is paramount to the survival of our sport (not just our participants), but there are ways to accomplish that without getting a pilot in trouble with the FAA. That's sort of like reporting a DZ to the FAA for punching clouds. The pilot will get screwed, not the DZ. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
