Melania comforted the president by yelling him that when you're older it's harder to maintain an inserection

End of the Trump era? In your dreams. Even if he’s not directly involved in politics in the next few years (and I think he will be) the damage he’s done to societal norms will be felt for decades, if not longer.

Oh, I've considered myself an 'old guy' for some time. A number of years ago, I ended up with a cold at SDC Summerfest. So I sat around a lot. Fortunately, the 'crusty old guys' had a tent set up, and spent a lot of time sitting around swapping stories. I was both proud and a bit sad that I fit right in, and even had a couple good stories to share too. One of them told me that 'crusty old guy' is a compliment in skydiving. It means that you've hung around long enough (and survived) to earn the title. My 20th sky birthday is coming up in August.

We are really in a crappy place today. Justice Clarence Thomas is arguably in cahoots with his Qanon and conspiracy theory believing wife who participated in the January 6 insurrection. Both Kavanaugh and Coney-Barrett apparently lied to get their seats and, by any honest rational opinion, Gorsuch sits in a stolen seat. If you read this and think "sucks to be you libtard" or "it's about winning and we won" you are no patriot. You are no true American. You are a traitor to our fragile constitution.

Senate votes in favour of bi-partisan gun control bill It seems that politicians, at least in the Senate, are less concerned with owning the other side and more concerned about working together to reduce the number of mass shootings.

The secret service is at fault here 100%!! They should have had him strapped into his car seat with a Happy Meal.

That’s something that Texas gets right: they have a sunset commission that’s supposed to review agencies for continued relevance. It’s not at the law level, but it beats nothing. Wendy P.

I agree with the concept of "sunset clauses" on laws. Any law should be reviewed every 20-ish years. The alternative is having hundreds of non-enforced laws cluttering up the law books, courts, etc. One of my pet peeves is all the dozens of traffic laws that are still on the Canadian books, but not enforced. For example, in Vancouver, you will only get ticketed for an illegal left-hand turn AFTER you collide with another car. That left-hand turn was illegal the other 364 days of the year, but cops did not bother to enforce it.

Hi Robert, ABSOLUTELY!!!!! Re: so every LEO gets the same training and operates under the same policies. We have that here in Oregon. Except for operates under the same policies. I am a total believer that there should only be one LEO organization in a state. It provides continuity in enforcement. I would think we all would want that. While, here in Oregon, all LEO's have to go thru the state-run academy, the enforcement is left to the organization that they belong to. Jerry Baumchen

Seen on FB: Every Muslim teacher in the US should start leading their classes in prayer. Watch how fast that shit would be illegal again.

With 1.4 wing loading that's going to be a toughie. With an accuracy-style and sized canopy, piece of cake. Either take a couple of canopy courses (you can learn how to land better with just about any canopy), or invest in a new container. Or just learn how to PLF; I basically never run out landings any more. Wendy P.

Yeah. I can’t think of many DZs in the UK that were super hostile to BASE jumping in itself. There WERE people at DZs who were hostile to new jumpers if they turned up with an attitude, saying skydiving is for pussies or the like. For the OP - Any time you want to do something different on a DZ, such as jumping base gear in rented harnesses you need to respect that you’re asking them to alter their procedures to make life easy specifically for YOU. Those alterations mean an increase in risk for the dz, however slight, so you have to EARN the right to ask that type of favor by not being a dick about it and showing that you’ve thought everything through from their point of view as well as your own.

Your definition does not really matter. Some people want to live as well as they can as a different gender from the one that comes most naturally with their genes, or in some cases their genes are not arranged in the standard way. Either way, in the most plain terms, it's no skin off your ass. Why does it upset you and Winsor and some others so? At the same time I also am inpatient with those who look for biological arguments to justify it. There is no justification needed. Just let people alone. Why should you care? The world is not going to fall apart into some abyss of gender dysphoria. The social order will not collapse. Boys will still mostly like girls and girls will still mostly like boys. Nothing will change except that some people will feel less oppressed and more free. Move alone now, there's nothing for you to see here.

That's largely because the 'definitions' were set by the majority, no matter what the oppressed minorities (that the words applied to) said. Now that 'old white guys' aren't in absolute charge, the definitions that THEY insisted on using are no longer absolute.

So you are a proponent of strong price controls and a heavy government hand on businesses like in China? We're at 8.8%, Germany is at 7.9%, your data, in business we call that the same number. France is at 5.8% and the Netherlands is at 8.8%, again your data. All economies do not react to inflationary pressures in tandem owing to structural differences. For example, you don't see people going to shop or pick up the kids in gigantic, gas guzzling trucks in Europe. Truly, with you it's like arguing the existence of God with a priest.

Biden has increased gas prices and ordered that inflation increase - all over the world. And every single country obeyed. He is the most powerful man the world has ever seen.

I'd ask a canopy coach to evaluate you. There are people with thousands of jumps who shouldn't be jumping a 1.38 WL, and people with 50 who could handle it with ease.

Hi Jerry, An embryo can be frozen for a very long time, then used to create a living baby. The current record is 27 years, with the baby being born in Oct 2020. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-55164607 Can't do that with a baby. OTOH, as far as vaccines go, a pregnant woman won't make other women around her pregnant. I'm not sure if I agree with vax mandates or not (none exist at the moment). I AM in favor of not allowing unvaxxed people in certain places, to do certain activities and putting them at the 'back of the line' for medical care.
