Just imagine Trump on the stand, being questioned by a prosecutor who finds a way to push his buttons until he explodes: "YOU WANT THE TRUTH??? I CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!"

Europeans watch the same TV shows as us, as do Canadians and Australians. They see the same cop shows with the same movie violence. They eat the same food (pretty much), drink the same booze and for the most part drive the same cars and shop in similar stores. The biggest DIFFERENCE is that Europeans, Canadians etc. don't have absurdly easy access to firearms.

So the deadly combination of a deteriorated mental condition and guns has struck SC and DZ. Everything that Billy worked and dreamed of in 1/2 a century is now gone. Without doubt he faced challenges in his life and thought he could control the darker thoughts in his mind. But in the end he could not. In the space of a minute or two he faced a monster from within. The result was his whole beautiful family was destroyed. When he finally called out for help it was too late. He realized what he and he alone had done to his family. That agonizing realization was too much for his mind to deal with. In the absence of a gun perhaps some sort of physical altercation would have resulted. Perhaps a verbal showdown that ended in divorce. Nobody knows of such possibilities. Very sad.

Just saw it. Mind. Blown. If you are an aviation enthusiast, and all of you on this site are, you have to see this movie. This might be the best action ever put on film. Holy shit. I don't want to give out any spoilers, but the flight scenes in this film have never been seen before. And the actors are actually flying the planes! I have so many questions about the physics of what I just saw. I watched it with a bunch of my USMC active duty pilot buddies, and they were just as blown away as I was. And if you're a fan of the original, there are a slew of very well done homages to the source materiel. Everything from Maverick's Kawasaki to the beach volleyball scene. Val Kilmer's Iceman is superb. Well done Tom Cruise. I think I just developed a man crush... GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!! D

Sure, and further for sure who am I to argue? I could give a rip about the content of a posters posts. If I'm annoyed I can just block them, and did. Of course, I still need to be exposed when others quote reply but that's endurable. That all said, it does make the forum unenjoyable for me when one poster so dominates with shotgun and unattributed posts to the point where for the first time in my experience here the program tilted and gave notice of a posting overload. Trolling is less of an annoyance and that's no bueno. Why not the rude crashing of the system with insistences?

Agreed! Some of the best flying footage every published by Hollywood. Most of the F-18 footage is real. Back when Top Gun 1 debuted, I was wrenching on CF-18s at CFB Baden-Sollingen, West Germany. The only CGI seems to be the Sukhoi 57s and the F-14 Tomcat. Mind you, Sukhoi 57s are so new and so few that not even the Russian Air Force is flying them in Ukraine. ... and I doubt if the Iranian Air Force rents out their few flying F-14s for filming.

This is Speaker's Corner; it gets hot here. If you find yourself getting hot, take a cooler. If you want to turn up the heat, come out with arguments blazing, or really get someone to cry uncle, maybe take a cooler (this is Speaker's Corner, after all). And needling is just tacky We're not anti-gun, we're not pro-gun, as a website. We are pro following the no personal attacks rules. Yelling is just fine, but understand that people will probably think less of you for it, and some of them will probably call you out for it. As people, we’re all over the map, and that’s OK The words aren't always the best-chosen, but neither are mine. Live with it, and pretend your feisty aunt is listening to the conversation. Wendy P.

Do you ever stop to think about what you write?

A few years back I was one who sided with the anti gun control folks. I don't know the answer but this has to stop.

Hi DF, Re: The purpose of the 2nd amendment is to protect ourselves from our government. You cannot legally or illegally obtain enough weaponry to successfully take on a SWAT vehicle & it's occupants. We live in a different world than 1776. IMO you have to be fantasizing if you truly think you can out-gun the gov't. Jerry Baumchen

I would say that the fact that people knew him does not mean that he deserves anything at all from us. But I also believe that WE deserve better than having him turn into a go-to argument.

I blame him 100% for the deaths of his family. And if you read the news story it makes it clear that he did as well and that he decided to end his life rather than face the consequences. There is nothing we know of that indicates any mental illness. Men kill for many reasons and domestic violence is common and often hidden. We will never know what was happening within that family. The witnesses were all murdered.

Please tread very carefully on this topic. There is nothing wrong with the OP in this thread, but just as actual participants on dz.com cannot be attacked, let’s not get too sanctimonious about this event. It’s sad, shocking, and personal to lots of people here. I never met BV in person, but yeah, he worked hard for his life. Wendy P.
