2 pointsIt is a shame, as it is a transparent effort to avoid legal liability. Hopefully the court will tell him to shove his bankruptcy up his ass.

1 pointDoes he have to reveal who was backing him and who was profiting? I have no doubt this is an attempt to evade paying the judgements against him. But those were 'summary judgements'. The cases never went to trial. Jones basically defaulted because he refused to provide subpoenaed materials. One thing that was pointed out was that some of the 'refused material' included details on who provided his start up capital and who 'owned' the shows. I would hope that any bankruptcy filings would include that info.

1 pointThe fear of every German general in WW 2 was a posting to the Russian front. Today the fear of every Russian general is a posting to the Ukrainian front. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CID0IgNRWZ0

1 pointThe one thing the Russians are successfully doing is slowly grinding Urainian cities and their civilian populations into the dust, which is also what nukes are for.

1 pointAgree wih most of that with a few comments. Gasoline will be similar to diesel now - available many places, but not in high demand. It will be very cheap due to the low demand. Coal will see more use as a raw material than a fuel, which will solve 90% of the problems with its use. Most of our energy will come from solar and wind, but the improvement in resilience will come from intelligence and storage. Local storage, local generation, the ability to intentionally island and the ability to do accurate demand response will make the grid immune to most disasters and attacks. The efficiency thing is an important one. Traditionally energy use per person has been a sign of quality of life, but it's important to note that what we care about is the work done by every joule. In the future, quality of life will improve while energy use per person decreases. As a simple example, LED bulbs give more light, and far more heat, than incandescents - but use about 10% of the energy. The population thing will be the big challenge. We run into limits of growth quickly if the population keeps growing. That's why Tostan and Camfed are two of the bigger charities I support - because they fund women's education. and that's the #1 way to reduce birthrate voluntarily. (And also why many governments oppose it.)

1 pointHi folks, Alexey Sharadkin owns Sky Wide Systems in Kyiv, Ukraine. SWS - Skydiving gear Over the years, Alexey and I have exchanged many PM's & emails; usually regarding parachute equipment. He has asked that I post this letter from him here: Hello. Oleksiy Sharadkin, I am the owner of SkyWideSystems company, and I have been a SOF operator since February 24. As you might know, on February 24 Russia attacked our country. Due to the differences in size, economies and human resources foreign military experts gave us a week ( the ruscists planned to hold a parade in Kyiv on the 4th day), but we have already been fighting for 49 days. We repulsed the offensive and drove the enemy back to the border in the Kiev, Chernigov and Sumy regions. You will find more information about the war on my FB page The situation is not so bad in a military sense thanks to the military assistance of the allies. We are no longer talking about the conquest of Ukraine. We are fighting in the east and in the south, reclaiming our land. The only one problem is that there are a lot of Russians, and elimination of them takes a lot of time. During this time they can cause irreparable harm to civilians in the occupied territories. You might have seen photos from Bucha. They are awful. The worst thing is that this is happening in all the territories that have been occupied. My subdivision liberated villages in the north of Ukraine - and I personally saw a raped and hanged 10-11 years old girl. In order to decrease the time of occupation, we need help. Not only the military (the situation here is not that bad, thank you), but also the economic one. I am asking the entire skydiving industry to stop all business with Russia. I am asking material manufacturers to stop selling any materials to Russia, and FOR Russia. Military equipment takes more than 80% of the turnover of Russian parachute manufacturers now! And given that the parachute industry is so small, it will be obvious to any rigger where these materials come from. You don't want to be considered suppliers of the Russian army, do you? I am also asking parachute equipment manufacturers to stop any sales of parachute equipment to Russia and FOR Russia. I am asking you to do this in order to cause the maximum possible damage to the Russian economy. The sale of parachute equipment is a high-margin business. It includes dropzones, shops, dealers, riggers. This is the money turnover and taxes, that help to finance Russian army and the genocide of Ukrainians. This is definitely not the vital kind of business. I'm asking you to do this because the skydive fraternity talks are not working any more. 76% of Russians support the war in Ukraine. It is more than it was in Nazi Germany! Given the size of Russia, and the amount of military equipment left after the Cold War, they will be destroying peaceful Ukrainians in the occupied territories for a very long time before we kill all of them. Therefore, I am asking you to strike at the Russian economy, to make them think about the food for their families, but not about the rape. To make them return to their home and leave Ukraine. You may ask: "what does the sale of one parachute mean for the economy"? Perhaps, nothing, or ,perhaps, it might matter a lot. Such kind of letters are now written to all businesses operating in Russia. Those letters are already working against the Russian economy and are destroying it. Of course, one parachute sold will not destroy the Russian economy, but it will show your attitude towards the genocide in Ukraine. There are still some corporations that are trying to do business as usual with Russia or looking for workarounds. You can see them suffer reputational losses, because of that. Even one sold parachute will be noticed by the skydiving community in such a small industry The skydiving community will appreciate the side you took. Please choose the correct side. Help us defeat ruscism! Jerry Baumchen

1 pointSo: 1800 gallons of fuel in a 12 hour shift, has to move 50,000 pounds of ore for one EV battery. Sounds like a lot! HOW DUMB ARE THOSE STUPID GREENIES??!!??!?!?!?!?? Those numbers are wrong, but let's go with it for the sake of argument. So let's do the math! That thing can carry 47 cubic yards of ore - about 90,000 pounds - at a time. So takes about six loads to make one EV battery. If it has to move it a few hundred yards to the ore carrier, then that's about a 2 minute trip per load. So in a day, that thing can carry enough to make more than 60 EV batteries. So that's 30 gallons of fuel to make one battery - and that battery will save 10,000 gallons of fuel over its lifetime. In the course of a day, that thing has used 1800 gallons - for batteries that will save more than half a million gallons of fuel. So your meme sounds really bad! But if you can do the math, it actually makes quite a lot of sense, and saves far, far more fuel than it uses. BTW the original numbers are wrong because the primary active element (lithium) comes primarily from brines, not ores. And you move brines with a pipe, not a loader. And that thing will really take 600 gallons a day, not 1800. And even that 600 gallons is getting better. Mining companies are switching to EV equipment because it's cheaper. For example, Kuhn Schweiz AG now makes an electric ore carrier that can generate energy as it works - because most mines load their ore onto truck, train or freighters below the level of the mine, which is generally in the side of a hill. So the battery brings the carrier up to the mine, it gets loaded, then the carrier uses regen braking descending to the freighter. Due to the higher weight, you get more energy from the descent than you use while you are climbing empty. So not only will you not be using that 600 gallons in the future - the mine will be generating power. https://www.businessinsider.com/edumper-121-ton-electric-dump-truck-2019-8#:~:text=Researchers in Switzerland and a,regenerative braking on downhill runs.

1 pointI forgot to mention that, for the ones doing paragliding, there is also a App. Vario, glide ratio, g, altitude warning, ground speed and direction/distance to takeoff, are some functionalities. It's free. https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/1917603a-662c-4aab-a487-328822c4ad5c Be safe, jerome
