4 pointsVirtually every item on that list could just as well apply to "why automobiles will never replace horses" if written in the early 1800s. "You would have to drill hundreds of thousands of oil wells, and build hundreds of refineries, plus we don't even know how to process oil into gasoline, and there's no way to get the gas to where it can be accessed by automobiles, and besides that all the roads are just mud so automobiles just get stuck. Right now we already have plenty of pastures and hay fields, plus horses don't get stuck in muddy roads, and anyway horses are beautiful and automobiles are noisy, smelly, hard to crank-start, and they are always breaking down. Only an idiot would think automobiles will ever replace horses."

2 points"And not only that - gasoline EXPLODES! That's how it WORKS, stupid! You are really going to want your kids sitting over an EXPLOSIVE BOMB? And what if you want a new one, huh? Are you going to get your neighbor to stud his car, and get a new car in six months? How stupid are you car-lovers, anyway? Besides, I heard of this thing called thermodynamics that states that car engines can't actually work. Saw it on a bulletin board. And what are you going to fuel them up with? Unicorn farts? You progressives are as dumb as dirt."

2 pointsAfter all this blathering about this laptop story that has so many vague accusations I finally took the time to read what that known facts are. It comes down to this. The laptop appears to have a reasonably good chance of actually being Hunter's at one time. But not for certain. Two emails on it are the focus of all this talk. One thanks Hunter for giving an "opportunity to meet his father". The person in question could possible have been introduce to Joe when Joe briefly stopped into a formal dinner to say hello to an old friend and contact. Other than that there is absolutely no evidence of any meeting with Joe. None. Not while in office or afterward. None. The other one concerns some kind of deal that Hunter appears to be setting up with a Chinese company where it seems that one of the principles was offering a share position to Joe. It is followed by another that seems to report that Joe responded with "an emphatic no". Joe was not an office holder at the time of these emails. This is the complete thing as far as I can tell. The way I see it there is so little here that most likely in my mind the HD did belong to Hunter at one time. Simply because if someone was going to go through the trouble of faking evidence they would have faked something scandal worthy. Which none of this is. While it does suggest that Hunter was trading on his family connection, he is not and has never been a politician or in public service and therefore has done nothing illegal. And Joe has handled himself in a manner that does not bring any dishonour at all. The only story here is how the story was handled. And there was good reason for that.

1 pointThey don't give one single fuck about 'all'. Or 'society' as a whole. They don't think 'those people should have any rights. If there's one thing I've learned in the past 2+ years, it's that the 'conservative' types give exactly ZERO fucks about anyone but themselves.

1 pointA bit pedantic, but it was "Uncle Remus" in Song of the South. Funny thing. Black people were often referred to as "Uncle" and "Aunt" (you know, like "Aunt Jemimah) because little kids never addressed adults by their first name, but to address black people as 'Mr' or 'Mrs' or 'Miss' would confer too much respectability.

1 pointNice try. You didn't write those 41 points, why should I spend the time rebutting them? I'll contribute on my terms, thank you. Now the question is, have you actually contributed anything to the discussion? You don't really have thoughts of your own and need to rely on articles other people write for you.

1 pointI've been offline for a while, but I still would like to answer (sarcasm or no) :-) There is a lot of chest beating (echoed in this thread) about all the aid going to Ukraine, monetary and otherwise. Last week it became apparant that though the EU donated approximately a billion of aid (monetary and otherwise), they also bought for 35 billion of energy from Russia. Mind you, that is since the war started. Also, buying more weapons (for Ukraine) is pretty useless without Ukranian fingers to pull the trigger. Putin can win by sheer numbers.

1 pointA woman is a human being denied autonomy over her own body by Republican politicians.

1 pointI believe that she was attempting to give an accurate legal answer, since she was being interviewed for a legal position, rather than a position as a writer or grammarian. I mean, if someone asks me what master and slave mean, I am going to give a very different answer at an engineering interview than if someone asks me that in a history class. Even though they are "simple" words.

1 pointNote that all of those rights are really just extending equality under the law to people who had been discriminated against based on perceived gender. If the people with power were just to recognize the innate equality for both rights and responsibilities of humans these enumerations of subsets of them being "granted" would be irrelevant. That these enumerations aren't irrelevant is telling. Wendy P.

1 pointAnd why would this be important for a Supreme Court Justice. Should they also be asked to define person, man and camera? She recognized a stupid question and refused to answer it. Can you find any US legislation that defines a woman?

1 pointAnd why would it be relevant in questioning KJB or any other candidate for Justice?

1 pointthis is interesting, as it seems to be the norm at my small 182 dz in wv(safety culture). of course, our landing area is only about 300' wide and that includes the runway, and of course the prevailing wind direction comes straight off the river and blows over the tree line causing massive rotors most of the time and normally a cross wind landing. they say that when our students learn how to land here they can jump anywhere, since our whole landing area is the size of most d license areas on bigger dropzones. i also started jumping back when that cowboy attitude was prevalent. back before tandems were the norm and most folks came to do a static line jump. it doesn't seem to be that way any more, at least most of the time. it is perfectly normal for them to stop jumping completely when the winds pick up. most of us watch the treetops to determine when to stop jumping. i don't care how fast it blows, or which direction it is coming from, if the treetops are acting funky, it's time to take a break. i like that safety is a bigger part of jumping now than it was when i started, even though i never felt unsafe at all. i've been blessed with good instructors and folks at the dz who care about safety.

1 pointJust a quick update - college is going well. Engineering is hard but I'm maintaining good grades in all my classes. I'm going to shoot for Aerospace when I choose my major at the end of this year (If I can't get in, I will try Mechanical, and I can still get into aerospace industry with a ME degree) Sometimes I really miss California's weather but can't complain haha. Looking back I believe that I made the right choice, and thanks to everyone who pushed me. I think right now I'm learning something meaningful, and will do something meaningful in the future. About skydiving... well, I still think about it and my past experiences from time to time, but not as much as before. After my accident I always had that urge of 'immediately' getting back to it but now that has decreased a lot. I will jump again when I'm fully ready after a few years. Blue Skies and stay safe out there
