I lost a friend yesterday; her health wasn’t great, but this was not expected. We last saw each other last summer, and chatted on FB periodically. I’m really glad that I knew her, and I’m totally going to miss her wry, sarcastic, irreverent, sense of humor. I’m also glad that I did take that side trip, and that I did take the time to check in periodically — there aren’t any “oh I wish,” just sadness at the loss of value in my life. Value your friends, and tell them about it. They’re worth it. Fly free, PL Wendy P.

Doesn't seem to have worked for Clarence T. In fact when you can predict the vote of the majority of justices by which party the president who appointed them belongs to, it's a serious indictment of the system.

Well, Biden says he wants the court to look more like America. Barrett looks like a lot of American nutters I see, so there is that.

If laws were clear, we really wouldn't need judges. Judges exist to interpret laws and how those laws relate to a specific issue at hand.

Hi Bill, Re: Both parties have idiots. I agree. However, IMO the GOP has more of them and they are further along the road called Stupid Street. Re: to ignore the law and rule in a way that she believes is correct? I am of the belief that judges should judge. The sole purpose of a judge is to judge. To me, that means to consider all sides & come to a decision. Is that not what we want them to do? Here in Oregon, we have Measure 15 which imposed minimum mandatory sentences. It was wrong when it was passed & it is wrong now. It will always be wrong. Jerry Baumchen

The bonehead aero may fit the bill? I seem to remember it having a lower profit chin than my Kiss, and others G3's.

Lindsey Graham made it very clear he is all for the government having the power to detain people indefinitely without trial or any access to the judicial system. Marsha Blackburn and others (such as all three Republicans running for Michigan Attorney General) have spoken out clearly that they think Griswold vs Connecticut (the Supreme Court case that legalized birth control for married couples) was wrongly decided. Republican Senator Mike Braun of Indiana thinks that the Supreme Court was wrong on contraception, interracial marriage, and same-sex marriage. Ted Cruz and most Republican politicians are totally on board about censoring any expression regarding racial history or race relations. The great majority of Republican politicians are in favor of restricting elections so that only Republicans can win. They are also about throwing out the 2020 election and installing the loser in office. Every time I hear or read that Republicans "love the Constitution" it makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit. Every time I hear or read that Republicans "love America" it makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit more.

Forgive my previous acerbic comment to you. Is this perhaps better? Now compare that to "Hunter didn't deny that Putin ordered Trump to try to discredit his father". With all the effort from the left in attempting to debunk the laptop it would be really easy for Hunter to deny the laptop as his, would indeed be one of the strongest testimonies per his personal knowledge of it. By comparison; I didn't deny it was my laptop and you didn't deny it was yours. Yet if either of us were asked the same question it would be an unequivocal response easily proven. Yet Hunter doesn't, keeping his options open for when it awkwardly comes clean.

Nope. My very first sentence was "Returning to the OP.." which is "Hunter Biden's laptop". I intentionally made no mention of the DOJ probe which, I agree, is a separate issue. I was however referring to the 'so what?' line you've had since the laptop was authenticated. I'm unable to say with certainty, in my independent capacity, that the laptop content indicates anything directly negative towards Joe Biden, but these 50 officials seem to believe that perception by association merits concern. You seem to be of the opinion that (alleged) dirt on Hunter has zero impact on US voter thinking and you're welcome to believe that. By contrast, these 50 officials do. If you trust their acumen and judgement that the laptop content is a Russian fabrication but distrust the same people on their opinion of it's influence on the election, then I find that to be curiously convenient for you. For the left (including NYT) to fight so hard to debunk the laptop before the election and then have NYT concede it's legit after the election, is also rather convenient.

Remember, David, the sky is going to be there regardless. I took 13 years off skydiving while I was raising a son; I have zero regrets about that, too. And I've made more jumps, and more years, since I quit than I had before I did -- AND I was quite an experienced skydiver when I quit. But I always knew I was probably coming back -- and I did.
