Só let me get this straight — it’s perfectly OK to question the qualifications and route to power or wealth of women and minorities — just in the interests of fact. But questioning the qualifications and route to power of the people already ensconced (lighter in skin and greater testosterone) is getting into CRT and “privilege.” Don’t you fucking understand that being born into a group that’s over-represented in the power structure is an advantage? Kind of like additional height if you’re a basketball player or political candidate. It’s completely unearned. That doesn’t mean you should deny it, just realize that it’s an advantage. Wendy P.

So to address this inequity, every time the taller player scores his points would be redistributed. Play Golf much? Ever run track? Ever been in the military and had to proctor a PT Test with men & women. It's not about redistribution; it's about recognizing "the advantage" overall. If Winsor showed up on a court, I'm fairly confident the NBA player would spot him a couple of points, give him a class on 3 point shots, how to pivot or check against taller people. ETA: Now, what if there were a law or rule that no one Winsor's height was allowed on a basketball court.

Maybe he believes that with a sufficient passage of time some tall person will ask him for help getting something off the bottom shelf thereby proving the point once and for all.

Just to give some input here and explain our approach. When we took Basejumper offline, we retained the complete database and server files. We knew we needed to take Basejumper offline, but also knew that we may want to make the site archived in some way or another going forward, once we had the resources to do so. Technically, the republication of the site content on other websites is in breach of the copyright (as was always outlined in the T&Cs of Basejumper.com). With that said, we're not going to go after anyone here. We can appreciate that the site was important to a lot of people and that the republication of the content, while technically not legal - was done with good intentions (it would be different if we saw that it was done with the intent to profit from it). We are, however, going to upload this archive to Dropzone.com as well. As mentioned above - this was always something that we planned to do. Since we knew we owned the content, and knew that it was something that was desired by the community. The fact that you went through the effort to preserve it, makes it more viable for us to piggyback off that process and bring what you did across to Dropzone. We do realize that this initial archive, being the one grabbed in this discussion may not be fully complete. But knowing more about the process and the fact that there may be missing elements. I would be interested to (credit to @dmcoco84 for pushing the narrative) hear about what all is lost and perhaps even touch base with @platypii privately to see what we can do together to see if a full archive is able to be created. I can't make any promises - but it's something that I'll try and get a bit involved in and see what we can do. But again - this should be seen as something that we can't dedicate huge amounts of resources to - but something that we can investigate a little further to see what we can do.

Hi Tri, Re: HRC was one of the best in high school, one of the best in college, and one of the best in law school. Honors and recognition by faculty and peers at all three. From what I have read, she was also quite excellent US senator. Also, IMO she was a very good Sec of State; she worked her butt off in that job. She may be a polarizing person, but one should never discount her abilities. Jerry Baumchen

Line twists are caused by asymmetries during opening, which can be caused by various things. In skydiving, wind gusts is not one of these things. Don't overthink it, they can happen. Don't get too relaxed about the canopy flight though. Once you are able to fall and pull stable, they are one of the most dangerous part of the sport, specially when you start getting smaller canopies (and by smaller I mean simply smaller than what you have now, not small, you don't need an 80 sqft canopy to get hurt or hurt somebody else) Welcome and have fun!

Right. But here we have a case of a single system (Icon) having a problem at a single loft (the one in the video.) In addition, we have seen the problem of unidentified pieces falling out of the container during opening, generally indicating a rigging problem rather than a design problem. In the US we had some problems with Racers along similar lines. It wasn't one loft but it was a small number of them who had serious problems getting them packed and functional. This was generally traced to the fact that Racers are packed differently than many other rigs out there, and riggers were just plain making mistakes. The training was out there - Jump Shack did a "how to pack a Racer" course at pretty much every PIA show there was, and the training was readily available both in the manual and on line. Was that the fault of the Racer or the rigger? The riggers involved insisted it was Jump Shack's fault. Jump Shack (John and Nancy primarily) insisted it was the rigger's fault. Racers certainly CAN be packed and operated safely, and have been used for decades. So who was at at fault there? Sounds like there may be a similar issue here.

Better question. Why does this only seem to happen to Icons, in France, at this specific loft? That would lead me to believe that someone needs to have their packing investigated.

Without additional information, this is just another case of "they hate the Icon and look for errors." Even if it's valid, why do Icons only seem to have these issues in France? Additional information would include things like when and how it was packed, what's inside, etc. Wendy P.
