4 pointsUmm.. not really. It can fire as fast you can pull the trigger. Something has to keep the sere depressed or the sere filed down to make it truly automatic. Both of these done in your garage is a felony (and additional felonies for each weapon). Not something you want to entertain. So, let's define assault weapon properly not by the liberal definition - cause just about anything that "looks" tactical and military is the scary "assault rifle." An assault rifle is any weapon that has a gas-operated blowback and is full auto. Everything else is just a rifle. With regard to storage - if you can afford weapons, you can afford a safe. If you feel the need to have one or two pistols at quick disposal located in a couple of strategic locations in the house - get a biometric release safe. They run about $189. If you're going to carry in your vehicle; the same biometric release safe can be mounted in the vehicle. If you're going to carry on your person, know what the laws for state are regarding carry (open/concealed/constitutional) and be trained on using it - and go to the range and practice - frequently. Note: If you're going to carry, you may wish to consider a slide safety - not that bullshit Glock or Springfield Arms - just have to squeeze safety. Give yourself that one split nanosecond to have to flip the safety lever down to ensure that you really really want to shoot this person AND look pass the shot. To Joe's point - THE BEST home defense you can have is a 12 gauge "automatic" or "pump" Not automatic fire - automatic reload the cartridge from the chamber, whereas, the pump needs to be wracked after each round - with alternating rounds of 00 Buck and deer slugs. And, if you do this - you need to put it in the safe when you leave the house. When you're in the house, put it up high in the bedroom over the closet door on a couple of rifle hooks, so wee people can't inadvertently get to it. NOTE: Not necessarily directed to you - but the group.

3 pointsAre there a lot of people who feel that? Do they support counting pregnant women as two (or more) people during a census. Are they in favour of allowing any child tax credits to start at pregnancy in stead of at birth? I will agree that a lot of people say they feel that fetuses are human beings, they just don't back up those feelings with actions other than actions to control women.

2 pointsDon't forget his VERY long history of creating sock puppets to get past being banned. There used to be a 'member list' that showed everyone's user name. If someone can point it out to me, I'd like to see how many variations of his name are listed, using extra 'o', 'r' & 'e'.

2 pointsYes. My source has recordings past the transcripts at 7:41 when 305 leaves Seatac. Stay tuned!

2 pointsBrothers, they both said just about the same thing at different times in different forum threads together.

1 pointAnd to add to this question - is this actually a problem? What are the numbers on this? Without numbers this can be just like arguing for having triple reserves when skydiving. I've read (in the distant past, I'll admit) that the former Eastern Bloc countries had the largest proportion of repeat abortions. Here, since they cost money, and a significant amount if it's not the morning after pill, I have a feeling the number is fairly small. As far as the morning after pill, well, I'm for it. Regardless of how many times someone uses it. It shows they're thinking ahead. In fact, when my son was a little before likely sexually active age (12; I'm realistic), I told him this was possible, and told him how to look it up on the internet, since that was already a thing. I convinced him to listen by reminding him that it might be someone else who needed the information, not him. Wendy P.

1 pointAnd although this probably falls under the category of a personal attack, I won't report this post, but I do want to ask another question I asked you earlier - enough about me, do you actually have anything to contribute to the discussion or just keep grinding your year-long grudge?
-
1 pointThen aren't you doing it again? Even your link shows half of my full statement - and that's all you've latched on to. And I didn't even say I was referring to YOU, but it seems your feelings were really, really hurt to nurse it for this long.

1 pointThe effect on anyone else is insignificant compared to the mother. There is no real comparison.

1 pointNever forget, every time a woman has a period a potential human life is wasted. Why is birth control moral, but abortion is not? It was not that long ago that it wasn’t.

1 pointHi Sky, Never to say that my memory is perfect. But, that was Andy9o8. I remember because it made me rethink my position on the death penalty. Jerry Baumchen

1 pointThis is just another form of saying that it is okay for good girls, but bad girls need to be controlled. How many women do you think use abortion as a primary form of birth control? And if a woman is so messed up and irresponsible that she does that, what kind of mother do you think she will make? Just let people make their own decisions.
-
1 pointDifficult topic for sure. Anything that pulls in religion and emotion will remain controversial regardless of laws. I tend to be a personal choice kinda guy. Can't imagine the mental anguish of a woman being forced to carry a rape created fetus to term. It's also difficult to accept irresponsible people using abortion as the primary method of birth control. A womans right to control her body seems reasonable. It also seems reasonable that some limits/rules could be established to prevent behavior that repeatedly uses that right to terminate fetuses. Somewhere in this discussion there should be a position that can be compromised on.

1 pointAnother thing lost from the old site is the View All button which enabled one to have a look at a whole long thread all as one page instead of multiple pages. Very useful for searching for posts, quickly scrolling to the right section, personally archiving the thread, etc, without flipping back and forth between pages to find things. (Yes the Search function allows an option for searching within a particular thread ... but it still isn't the same in usefulness.)

1 pointI think abortion should be mandatory in a variety of cases. Since people talk about eliminating poverty, it should be noted that one sure way to take the likelihood of poverty to the next level is to have kids you can't afford. I have lived in neighborhoods where kids were a cash crop. A single mother who had been on public assistance since she was a teenager somehow got pregnant right when her daughter was due to turn 18. I'm sure that was just a coincidence. At any rate, I would support some kind or rules where, if you have kids and are on the dole, having further kids would disqualify you from any further assistance for life. Subsidized contraception and free and available abortions should be de rigueur. Taking it one step further, a condition for public assistance should well be free reversible sterilization for everyone involved. If you can't afford the procedure to restore fertility during childbearing years, you sure as hell can't afford further children. Considering how seriously fucked up kids tend to turn out when coming from the welfare baby factories I have witnessed, I would greatly support providing and incentivizing abortion for anyone whose birth control failed. The same goes for girls who get knocked up and gave the kids up for adoption upon birth - bad juju. Of course, if I get pregnant I'm keeping the baby, but that's just me. BSBD, Winsor

1 pointI certainly agree that the rise of social media, mass communication and the availability of "information" all play into this. It has led to an overall distrust of information, resulting in the wider availability of knowledge actually making people less smart. How else does one explain groups of people standing at the grassy knoll waiting for JFK Jr. to reveal himself to put Trump back into power? It has also led to a lot more exposure to the ills of society that have always existed. It was much easier to hide from what was wrong and never having to address it. People would likely not have walked up to you and asked for your opinion on racism, or confronted you with their opinions on the faults of Christianity. Yet, obviously on the internet that is all pretty much fair game. The idea of "if you won't say it to somebody's face, don't say it at all" has left a lot unsaid in the past. Things we are now trying to reconcile in many cases. Personally I am of the opinion that a lack of willingness to sacrifice for society's greater good is what ails the west. We seem to only want to make ourselves, or those very identical to us, better and richer. I do believe that this will result in the end of democracy. I do believe the US will very likely have an autocratic ruler within the next 2 decades. To me the only way to change that path is if we find a way to care for those around us, care for the earth we live on and try and understand that a rising tide does lift all boats. But, it requires people to "give things up", maybe even more than somebody else might gain. It requires caring for those who are not like us. Maybe that is what you meant with decency, but I disagree that it is something that existed in the past.

1 pointthis is a sensitive subject. Yes after incidents of total malfunction or delay in manually reserve opening found by riggers during reserve packing cycle, Aerodyne has been contacted but denied any issues claiming testing were not done on a regular basis. We noted that malfunctions did happen on recent rigs (two last years) and it looked changes that had been carried out by the manufacturer (in particular on reserve closing flap) which at least affected the certification of the parachute since FAA has not being notified. Due to this situation, we asked French FAA equivalent to carry out tests with an independant and neutral laboratory called DGA (Direction Générale de l'Armement). in november 2021, Aerodyne president Pal Bergan and European representative Herman Landsman were present in Balma (France) to meet the French authorities and to conduct tests. A test protocol was drawn up by DGA and Aerodyne signed it up, means before starting each test , Aerodyne should validate what the rig was compliant (packing method, reserve PC power, type of canopies inside, reserve loop length, mounting of AAD, reserve manual force, etc)..before proceeding with the test in accordance with rules of art, which means parachute well tighten and chest strap, in a human body which fits to dimensions of the harness rigs, in a stand up and laydown position. The first day, we proceed to 17 tests and got 3 failed by manually deployment and 5 total malfunction by firing AAD located underneath the reserve PC, which makes a total of 8 on 17.. I cannot tell you more, since it is still under investigation....

1 pointI have this crazy idea that perhaps you could contact Aerodyne directly? Aerodyne Research, LLC 1725 Lexington Avenue Deland, FL 32724 P: (386) 279-7990 info@flyaerodyne.com

1 pointThe way people think these days is mind boggling. To a degree, I suppose, but really no. And you've been around long enough to know that. This isn't Disneyland. Skydiving is a blatantly elective activity, and it's a blatant act of self-reliance. It isn't for everybody. It's really not for many people at all. At some point people have to take responsibility for themselves and what happens to them at a dropzone. I say that point is when one first decides to take an fjc. Sure, if one has different rigs for different disciplines, or if one is buying a couple rigs at the same time, there are things that should be considered. But the OP appears to be a fun jumper who's wondering if it's ok to keep his old rig when he gets his new one. A rig he presumably has jumps on and is familiar with. (And his mains are similar.) There really shouldn't be a problem with that. Sure, he has to pay attention to what he's doing, but that is a requirement anyway. If that is beyond someone, then they really shouldn't be doing this. I mean, is it black death to take your spouse's car to the store because it's parked behind yours in the driveway? If it is, you should sell the damn things and use a ride-share.
