Response to the nipply one: Your first jump will be a recurrency. To make sure that you obey your jumpmasters, you'll be required to wear eye shades along with the face mask. The instructors will pull off the eye shades when they deploy you. With a frap hat, the options are endless. I'd go with the standard little blue face shield, and just let freefall blow it off. Then you can wait for it to land and re-use it again. Make sure you weight it appropriately -- you do want it to come back down on the airport, after all. There's a whole new sport of mask accuracy, with people building special accuracy masks, studying the wind currents in detail, and adjusting the mask weight based on the exit altitude and direction. The one true religion is Dudeism. If you don't believe in it, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

Bottom Line: One should treat race, creed, religion. gender, with respect. This country is going to shit for one reason and one reason only - we have lost our sense of decency towards others. We spend more time finding the minority of bad in a group, than we do the majority of good. Two valuable lessons: If you don't have anything nice to say; keep your mouth closed. If you're not willing to say it to their face; then don't say it at all.

Did somebody tell you the vaccine was going to be effective against all future possible mutations? As indicated above, you seem to be unable to grasp even the most basic of concepts, so I don't think learning is very high on the list of things you are looking to do. You are looking to confirm a bias you established early on. You are doing the opposite of learning.

Respect is a two way street. When the evangelists say that 'anyone who doesn't believe what WE do is going to hell, my 'respect' for them goes way down. When they scream how much they love Jesus, and then turn around and do basically the opposite of EVERTHING he taught, the same thing happens. When they try to hide their discrimination behind 'sincere religious beliefs', while at the same time behaving in ways that blatantly violate those same beliefs, to expect me to 'respect those beliefs' is rather silly. When they try to claim that Biden is the anti-christ, when their hero, Trump seems to fit the description a LOT better, when they call him "Joe & the Ho, ignoring the fact that the former first lady was a porn model... That 'respect' is gone. Completely, totally, utterly gone.

Right. But as that earlier quote suggests, religions are starting to get away from that sort of literal interpretation of the Bible. The Catholic Church now sees evolution "as an effectively proven fact."

Those lessons become moot. It becomes the incumbent duty of every good citizen to come to the defense of their countries righteous ideals.Which is not to say that courteous debate, debate with respect. Should not be the first option. But when debate is a sham exercise. When lies, obfuscation and obstruction the new norm. The dutiful and brave must stand, must act. I guess I better keep my mouth shut. . .

Another issue is that none of these people were caught in traffic. They were the traffic. I seriously doubt that they all had such urgent business that they just had to drive during a well forecast major winter storm.

It is not neither a good or a bad thing. I'm merely pointing out that pretending to understand the nature of existence through the doctrine of the church, or any other doctrine is pointless by any objective measurement. The current Pope's move toward more modern and moderate positions is a good thing as far as it goes. But that is not very far. He is still the head of a very deeply flawed and powerful institution with a long and abusive history.

Except that no one proposing the vaccine ever said that it was either perfect or going to protect completely. Only the naysayers, putting words into the government's and scientific mouths. The part about how it's limiting the severity of the reaction is what we have now. It's a much cheaper way to limit the severity than the upcoming COVID treatment medicine that was just developed (also in a tear-ass hurry). It's preventing the contraction of some COVID, just as the flu vaccine prevents the contracting of some flu. Note that before masks, flu killed 30-50,000 people per year, so obviously the flu vaccine wasn't perfect either (even among those who took it -- there have been flu naysayers also). But flu hasn't threatened to overrun the hospitals in the US for about 100 years. Impacts in big flu years, but nothing like COVID in the last two. Wendy P.

The FAA has, or at least did have, a rule that if you're a certificate holder (pilot, rigger, mechanic, whatever) and you die, you have thirty days to notify them.

I'd be against that. Some of his tales are NOT for children.

This is an even more interesting article, from a woman who is a medical professional in the UK. She has found an all natural way to prevent COVID, and it's been working for her very well. AND it's from a source that's a lot more reliable than the Epoch Times. From the article: "I found a free and vegan-friendly alternative method to boost the body’s immune system. You don’t always know what is in pharmaceutical medicine – it is much better for the body to drink something that doesn’t contain chemicals. "It isn’t much different to a mother breastfeeding her newborn to give them the nutrients they need. It isn’t for everyone but it is packed full of vitamins and I haven’t had a cold or flu ever since drinking it in 2017 – I also put it on my face to clear up my skin." It worked for her and it makes a lot of sense when you think about it. I'd advise starting as soon as you can. Can't hurt, right?

The FAA database is hopelessly out of date and chock full of dead riggers with seal symbols that come up as good if anyone checked. My good friend Frank Mott passed away back in the mid-2000s and he's still listed as an active rigger. His seal symbol is MH4. If you use it (Frank wouldn't mind) just anonymously send his widow 20 bucks.

My children were raised completely outside of any religion. The only downside to that I have found is a small amount of regret that they have little to no knowledge of the common fables of the bible. They seem to have no regrets at all.

OK. I now "know" for a scientific fact that one can verify rigger seals in the Aviation Registry. Welcome back Nipple Boy. Your particular brand of smartass would help to freshen things up in here a bit.

This is a big world. If you’re looking at something you can probably find it. However, when possible it’s generally better to adjust to what’s available. One can find black grains of sand on Florida beaches, and white ones on the volcanic beaches of Hawaii. But they're sure overwhelmed by everything else. Wendy P.

There's always the long game of staying relevant. People don't often quit religion, or change their faith system, because their current faith angered them. Mostly they just scoff, hang in there, and do what religionists have ever done: cherry pick what they like and enjoy the camaraderie. Don't forget that Catholic pretzel twisters are the same happy bunch that jailed Galileo, shunned Darwin and now teach that evolution is compatible with the bible.

Actually, in the Netherlands at least, the "prior infection and cured" certificate is issued by the government after they test you positive and after you are considered cured (14 days after the initial positive test). There is a considerable amount of fraud and non-compliance since the certificate is checked via a government-developed and -issued app. But at least you cannot just lie about it; you have to try a little harder.

I can think of no religion that is inherently bad. Although Mormonism in its original form did promote racism. And it and several others are actively misogynist. Religions are generally used to organize groups of people. Society does not exist without organized groups. And they promote tribalism almost as a matter of course, which we also need in order to thrive. They are almost always corrupted by leaders seeking power. They only differ in degree. In the end it is the leadership that is harmful. They are able to gain a lot of power with almost no accountability. The most obvious example is possibly the most corrupt organization that has ever existed. The Holy Roman Church and its empire. And it is not because of evil theology, it is because of the power it has been able to amass and hang onto over many centuries. It is clearly on the decline now but it has a long way to go.

And a happy New Year to all as well. I hope that Omicron is the straw that broke the back of the pandemic, and that we are on the back side of it by Chinese New Year. To have family and friends together again for good food and good company will be lovely.
