Meanwhile in the Antarctic: Just got back from 3 weeks in the Antarctic and far south Atlantic. Saw for myself the sad state of many formerly huge glaciers, and the freshwater running off the melting glaciers freezing into sea-ice. The sea-ice area extent in the Antarctic is not shrinking like in the Arctic because this fresh runoff freezes more easily than the salty southern ocean. However, the resulting sea ice is a very thin layer. Have lots of pictures of penguins and seals, should anyone be interested, (36 hours traveling to get back to Chicago - it's a long way).

Doesn't that cut both ways? That could also mean 8 less folks who could counter the actions of other directors with conflicts of interests.

It might even have been colder in Nebraska than in the Antarctic! Wendy P.

Well, I had a feeling McCoy was Gryder's suspect based on some of his comments in his Cooper Vortex interview... sigh. He's just... so obviously not Cooper, but the media loves to latch onto him. Fortunately I feel like most of the more knowledgeable sleuths in the Cooper world have ruled him out, but he's still got his peddlers out there that are very aggressive with their case.

Well that was a BIG reveal... Most people will think McCoy was DB Cooper. Buy the McCoy book, it will go up. Rataczak said they saw Portland and Cooper was gone by that time.. So, he didn't jump over the Columbia.. and those diatoms. But that has nothing to do with the McCoy claim. McCoy's kids sincerely believe he was Cooper, they have come forward after the death of their mother and want their father to get credit for the Cooper hijacking. That alone will convince a lot of people. Problem is there isn't any new evidence here, McCoy's alibi was always sketchy and he does not fit the witness descriptions.. fingerprints didn't match... there is no new evidence. The claim that he was disguised with nobody noticing is not believable. His kids were small and Denise the babysitter thought the parents were gone for 3 days around that time.. but no specifics. This is the same issue with other suspects,, personal opinions and recollections.. but this will have more weight because McCoy actually did a similar hijacking.. McCoy will be moved to the top of the (public) suspect list but I just didn't hear any new evidence. Also, for his UAL hijacking, McCoy's photo was id'd by witnesses and he left lots of fingerprints. He left the note behind..

Wendy - No doubt that the constant negative barrage on just about anything that's different from what appears to be the majority opinion is off putting. The labeling and name calling is not good. I do post less and less. It's no longer fun, but it's educational to understand how other folks see things. As an example, this topic is one I didn't reply to until now. Having said that - I've had a few off line convos that have been respectful and educational. And there are some posters that have strong opposing opinions and are respectful. Those are the enjoyable conversations.

CRT might be un-outlawed! (The field of study, not the old display device.) Science might be taught in schools! You'd have vaccines and smart grids and EV's and long distance HVDC transmission lines and grid scale storage and other tools of the devil. Not only might you see a woman as a CEO, she might make as much as a real CEO! Voting by mail, fewer gerrymanders, Januarys without fun insurrections! You'd have black people moving into white neighborhoods and buying out white families without so much as a fare-thee-well. It would be just like Nazi Germany. (But, you know, woke.)

I'd like to know what positive outcome you see as possible even if either party ran Winsor's ideal candidate to victory. It's not Liberals vs. Conservatives anymore; it's the Judiciary vs. the Citizenry. That specifically includes the DOJ. The new Supreme Court has only started raking us over the coals and our new AG, apparently, either can't read a calendar or is more concerned about his legacy than the erosion of our democracy. And, like Ginsburg, Breyer seems intent on hanging around to guarantee another hard right religious nutcase on the Supreme Court. The sad, simple fact is that the left doesn't know how to wield power to win elections or get specific results. We're already toast.

My big fear about the 2024 election is Biden vs Trump. Biden was a stopgap in 2020; if neither the Dems nor the Reps can go beyond, it’ll be a sad sign. Wendy P.

You just have not read the bloody accident report that initiated that rule. I read USPA Accident Reports religiously for 30 years. After that AR started to blur together. Ho! Hum! Another low turn. Yawn! But I had to be very careful to not simply quote old rules to young skydivers, because they jsut perceived me as a boring old fart who did not free fly. Unfortunately, young skydivers also lacked the patience to listen to the long version of the accident report.

Almost all of the USA that I see and interact with is what is known as "flyover country". Places where Jesus has many billboards and owns many radio stations. Trump 2024 signs abound in some of these places. Only occasionally do I see fat slobs doing the open carry thing in Iowa Walmart stores! (Iowa may have the fattest population of anywhere I've seen)

Absolutely. But too many people’s first step seems to be to accept the risk, based on what Joey at the DZ said, and that alone. Wendy P.

I don't have a dog in this fight but... I think the OP does his POV no service by his approach to communication, that may well be just language or culture related. The "counter position" on show is equally disengenuous seeming to want to "shout down" the topic. I am genuinely interested in this "story". If there is a genuine problen here it needs to be investigated properly. We all need to know that when we need that reserve it will deploy. * Having said all that without the supporting data as to who the OP is, where they operate from and whether there is any conflict of interest at play, either by the OP or counter positions, the subject will never be taken on face value. * we make that assumption everytime we jump. In the 2 occasions I have had to carry out my malfunction drills all has been well (not Icon). On the weekend of my last malfunction we had a fatality where the drills were carried out but the Pilot failed to deploy properly (not Icon).

Hello all, a new version is in beta. I added a page with 3D speed and vertical speed for the parachute ride. The Apps will warn you if you approach the triggers conditions of cypres or vigil. All data are recorded and sent to the Garmin Connect for analysis. You can then easily review the jumps and check that you do not approach AAD triggers for exemple. please let me know your ideas for future development. https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/d845c527-7383-4073-93db-2fc1c7ac1bf5

Hello all, The new version is recording the data which are then available on the mobile Apps Connect. So, you can see speed, g, pulse. I forgot to mention that the barometer of the Fenix should be set to "altimeter" in the standard watch menu. The altimeter calibration should be set to "manual", no automatic GPS calibration during the activity For the one doing PG-Acro, a new version is also available. If you have any idea for improvement, please do not hesitate. be safe, Jerome
