But they will need to market it as a horse tranquilizer to overcome vaccine hesitancy. (I stole the idea from Borowitz).

What part of your original statement : "Biden ordered our military not to go past the airport perimeter" is it that you are hoping we have forgotten?

Covid is morphing into a longer term multi-year battle. It is going to be an even larger event than we first realized. Vaccines and boosters are going to be needed and strong public health policies are going to be coming. Even to red states. This is just the beginning.

Just don't get lazy at pull time. IMO this could have been prevented with a more aggressive throw out.

He didn't realize that Delta and most major corporations self insure for their health plans, I wouldn't hold your breath on his legal analysis.

And he really loved his family, just not enough to get a vaccine to protect his kids. And of course, there is a GoFundMe. I really have a hard time mustering up any sympathy for that level of stupidity.

Had a friend who was complaining about gay pride celebrations - "if they want equality why are they making a big fuss out of it?" Following that logic, nobody should be allowed to celebrate their birthday or anything important to them because we're all equal, right? Birthdays, veterans day, etc. should all be abolished, because it means someone else is more important than you on that day. And that's really what you're saying about homosexuality - you "support their rights" but you're still more important than they are.

There is little profit in building affordable housing so no one wants to do it. I work mainly in residential construction and I see plenty of building going on. Just not so much affordable housing. Who wants to see higher tax rates in order to subsidize lower income families moving into the neighborhood? Neither residents nor their city council members would. Better to build more high end homes with higher property taxes, attracting wealthier residents who pay more in income tax and spend more in local economies. It’s the free market doing what it does best. If you want affordable housing California likely isn’t for you. But on the bright side, it probably is the best state to be homeless in. The winters are mild in most areas, it’s only on fire for a few months out of the year, tents handle earthquakes just fine and you can still find access to better drinking water than homeowners in some other states. Installing a rebublican governor will change none of that.

Re: 'scene ended her marriage to Joe DiMaggio'... On one hand, poor Joe (sort of), but geez, if you know you're a jealous man and you marry Marilyn Monroe, what do you expect? Sort of related story - Back whenever it was that Simon and Garfunkel's 'Mrs. Robinson' was a hit, supposedly Joe DiMaggio was at a New York restaurant and saw Paul Simon at another table. Joe went over and challenged him, "what do you mean 'where have I gone', I didn't go anywhere?!".

Of course the canopy can inflate. It depends on how much force it takes to clear the risers. Cutting away and clearing the risers first could take the rest of a person's life. The landing could have been gentle. The trouble with the canopy trailing from the foot would have been minimized by just taking control of the reserve canopy and going into fairly deep brakes. Slow your airspeed and the canopy would not have so much drag. Even if a person lands that way with little to no flare, it would have been better than the unguided crash.

Wow, even after Wendy posts an admonition to get back on target, everyone seems to still be stuck on me. I feel privileged to be taking up so much bandwidth.

What you are doing here is an old tactic called "making perfect the enemy of the good". You can raise an almost infinite series of "what if" stories to justify never ever approving any drug, vaccine, or whatever. Is a side effect that impacts literally one in a million people worse than a disease that has killed a minimum of 4 or 5 million in a little over one year, and destroyed the long-term health of several times that number? For a long time after drugs are approved they continue to be monitored for those infrequent side effects, so that treatments can be developed or people likely to experience the side effect can be identified and excluded from taking the drug. If your standard is that not one person, ever, has an adverse reaction then that is the end, no-one will ever develop a new method to treat or prevent any disease. Don

Joe has wrecked two nations in less than a year. Is that some kind of record?
