Just read the news that a young lady who was mowing the grass at Parachutisme Montreal was fatally struck by the wing of a landing plane, apparently one of the dz’s pilots flying his private plane on a day off while there was no jumping activity. Not a skydiving accident, but very closely related. some lessons to be learned apparently: communication, observation and visibility might have played a role https://www.tvanouvelles.ca/2021/07/05/happee-par-un-avion-en-tondant-la-pelouse-dans-lanaudiere-1

Maybe as many of the skydivers out there, I'm thinking about working in a wind tunnel to be that badass tunnel rat. Pros: - Working with something that I love - Possibility to fly much more than what I'm able to now. - Spending work time with like-minded colleagues instead of whuffo colleagues. - Saving money through stop buying tunnel time Cons: - Varying/uncomfortable work times - Lower income - It's not as stable and economically safe job as the one I already have. - Monotonous work tasks (flying the first timers) Have you thought about it your self? what have you decided att the end and why? Do you have any thoughts which can help me choose which way to go?

Hi Wendy, Re: he ended up teaching business J. Scott Hamilton, for Pres of USPA, had a doctorate in law; he ended his career teaching business at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Arizona campus. It's a long and winding road. My father got an engineering degree; he ended up teaching business after WW2. He did a study of the graduates of his class (admittedly not the usual one -- he graduated in 1941, immediately before the war), and found that 15% (I think that was the number) were still engineers in whatever they graduated in. Everyone else ended up in something else -- but they had the tools for it. Wendy P.

David - I believe FYE will be a tough year. However, you will do well. You didn't get there for no reason. Your discussions with your parents I interpret as guidance. I had similar discussions many moons ago and have had those discussions here recently. A friend of ours left the aero business to become a successful investment broker. You can do most anything with a tech degree. You're learning more than EE or CS your learning how to organize and solve problems; an ability that is always in demand.

Even if every human in America was vaccinated, that wouldn’t change the fact that there are still some 120+ countries who have a 0% vaccination rate and the virus could very easily mutate there and then travel to the USA. Vaccinating just one country in a world of 240 countries means little to nothing in the grand scheme of stopping mutations.

No, the stairs aren't fully deployed... The railing support joint is just inside and angle of the hydraulics is shallower.. and you have two people going off the stairs.. but it is an interesting pic,,

Thanks. I had only seen less complete English language news outside of 'la belle province'. On the video, the way Mario explains the lack of vision just at landing, suggests the plane was a taildragger, which makes the visibility issue a little tougher. Lessons indeed about communication at smaller & private strips where it isn't like ground service vehicles and planes are in contact with ATC.

If I was one of your parents and you handed me a legal document I would tear up the document and withdraw my offer to pay your tuition. You are acting like a spoiled little brat. Not many people are offered a paid tuition and you want to complain about no skydiving for 5 years. You are lucky to have parents who can and are willing to help.

I would say courtesy is given, respect is earned.

A basset hound can do all that AND negotiate a flight of stairs
