1 pointHopefully this will be something both parties can get behind. A bill in the House of Representatives will block deportation of US military veterans until their cases are reviewed. https://republicamericas.com/politics/were-willing-to-put-their-lives-on-the-line-house-bill-blocks-deportation-of-military-veterans/

1 pointHi Robert, Absolutely. I'm a veteran and they took the same oath that I did. Back when I was in, a hitch in the military got you citizenship.* It should be that way today. Jerry Baumchen * Unless the got a BCD or something worse.

1 pointThere are several good answers, but something I haven't seen yet: There are three basic types that still do RW (FS). Hardcore competitors. Generally they're doing team training, but sometimes they will organize others. Doing organized stuff with highly skilled folks is fun, educational and humbling all at the same time. New folks. The smart ones understand the 'get good on your belly before trying to fly on your butt' concept. I'm usually able to find a couple to jump with. They are really grateful to have someone experienced to jump with, and I have a lot of fun and its 'more than a little bit' of a challenge to be good enough to make the jump work despite their shortcomings. "Crusty old guys". I put myself in that category. I don't jump enough to get good at freeflying, so I don't really try. Not interested in competition, I just love to get up in the sky and play with my friends. I'm good enough that I can be "where I need to be when I need to be there." I'm not alone. Many of the bigger DZs offer load organizers. People who are there to put together groups and plan a jump that fits the skills of the group (both collectively and individually - see below). Some places do this regularly, some places only on 'special occasions'. I've worked with a variety of organizers (including some seriously world class competitors). I've also sat in on an 'organizer briefing', where the DZO sat with a new organizer and detailed the specifics of how to evaluate participants, decide what the jump will look like (depends on collective skill of the group) and decide who gets what slot (depends on skill of the individual jumper). Also contingency plans and making sure everyone knows what to do when (not if) something goes wrong. There's actually a lot more to it than 'meets the eye'. The goal is to make the jump challenging for everyone on it, but still attainable. Organizers usually get discounted jumps. Once you are back in the groove, you may wish to offer your skills to the DZO. NO clue if that place has or wants RW organizers, but it's an attraction to both 'crusty old guys' and newer folks who want to do more than zoo dives with other new people. Although, two fairly experienced jumpers combined with 2 newer ones and a challenging dive plan can turn into a zoo dive pretty easily. That's where the above mentioned contingency plans come in.

1 pointThat works for both sides. We've had too long of "my way or the high way," and at least from where I sit, there has been more negotiation and give on the part of the Democrats than the Republicans, if you look at the last 12 years. Before then, not so much (although still nothing like the 80's when people actually talked to each other). But with all of the major talk media saying "whatever he says is what you don't want," that's not going to change any time soon. Right now there are wolf hunts going on around the west, using all kinds of means that hunters traditionally are against (from the air, at night, etc). Why? Because the liberals are for conservation, and they not only want to protect their herds, but they want to thumb their noses at the conservation effort. Frankly, that sucks. Wendy P.

1 pointWhy is Eric taking TBAR sand samples in March... to compare to a Spring diatom? Should take samples in Spring,, River water samples too... just a suggestion.

1 pointI think it is a geo grid... those 4 notations match the grid lines on this Sage map,,, these grids are not unique to Sage and were a few different systems. I assume the potting data was plotted/transferred grid by grid. and no I can't confirm the lettering.

1 pointWell, a long time ago, on a Drop Zone far, far away... There was this guy. Some folks thought he was an asshole, but mostly he just told it like he saw it. He would set up temporary DZs here and there, and of course, being the DZO, he had to be something of an asshole. He learned the hard way what happens when you let the reckless fools endanger others. He was sort of a post whore on here too, back in the 'good old days'. By all accounts, he was actually a decent guy. Who put on some pretty awesome boogies. Then, like so many others on here, he just sort of faded away. Until...

1 pointHey VB, been a while. As Wendy noted, "Ms Moo" has left the building. Very sad. There's a thread in the "Blue Skies" forum. I woulda replied to ya if I'd seen it sooner. But it only took Wendy about 15 minutes to spot and respond. Edit to add: The new format isn't all that bad. You get used to it. The worst part about it is that ALL the old pictures are gone. The "Name That Rack" thread is barren. Damned shame.

1 pointIt was on Facebook; she passed away about a year ago, after a fairly long period of declining health. She'd abused her body with addiction earlier in life (and was up front about it), and it just gave out basically. Wendy P.

1 pointHi Ron, I disagree with almost everything you post on here. I am very glad that you made the choice that you did; the alternative choice would have been far worse. Jerry Baumchen PS) We all need something/someone every now & then.

1 pointYou should take advantage of the situation and organise a water training

1 pointIts like all the great parts of wingsuiting without all the shittiness! I really wanna start a 4way RW team, but in Mutations

1 pointI stopped keeping bees when I moved to northwestern Ontario. I still have all my equipment though and am active with a local beekeeping club. Hoping to get back into it one day. Yet to make my first skydive but hope to get into that soon.

1 pointOh come on. Unless you are hoping for dick picks why don't you just share it with all of us? (And you can share those dick pics by pm if you want) Fwiw to the OP, the transition from dive to level before the flare works best if it's done smooth and slow. Put the earphones in that flysight set to ping you the speed, and work on levelling and staying level without losing speed. More often than not a too quick levelling just causes a lot of drag due to changing the angle of attack too much, when at that stage you want to change pitch while maintaining the AoA as much as possible.

1 pointAw nuts, I'm so sorry to hear this. I spent an absolutely lovely day with her at the LA County Fair a number of years ago. Man it was hot! Fly free, and may there always be glitter. Wendy P.
