2 pointsIn my country it is about 6$ / gallon. Hell, I even remember several years ago when we voted to increase the cost by 40 cts/gal in taxes in order to have a rather correct polluter/payer ratio and invest these taxes in transportation infrastructure.

2 pointsAs always, thank you Dr. for another of your insightful, well though out statements about COVID.

2 pointsSeen on FB: Privilege is when you think something is not a problem because it's not a problem to you personally.

2 pointsWow!!! I would like to thank all the white people who helped me achieve this great honour. And also my parents for being white PS: Can I put "winner of SC - 11 February 2021" on my CV??!!!

1 point15 years ago today, 420 skydivers exited 5 C-130's over Udon Thani and built the world's first 400 way formation. It was very close. A last minute replacement went low right behind me, and John Peschio managed to reach down and pick her back up into her slot. (That never works.) We were starting to have hypoxia problems going to 26,500+ feet without bailout oxygen. But on this one jump everything came together and we managed to hold the formation for ~4 seconds before breakoff started at 7500 feet. The next day we did the largest mass freefall jump ever (1000+ people) over the new airport near Bangkok. Both are still records today.

1 pointWhen I first got my Drivers license (~'07) gas was over $4.00 a gallon, Now during Joe Biden Presidency its only $2.25 a gallon! Look at how much better things are! What a hero!

1 pointThe tens of billions that investors poured into fracking bought the US energy independence. Those investors will never see a return on their investment and many will loose every penny. See the dozens of quotes, references in Brent's global cooling and flat earth thread. President Biden has done nothing, yet, to increase the domestic price of energy. But as polls show Two-Thirds of Americans Think Government Should Do More on Climate. In addition Many globally are as concerned about climate change as about the spread of infectious diseases. Small groups who live in mountain hideaways may only care about the price of gas and 5.56 ammo. But most people live in a interconnected world and care about each other.

1 pointThis headline from CNN just illustrates exactly what a farce the senate "trial'' is really going to be, especially after having sworn an oath to be impartial jurors. Three GOP senators talk strategy with Trump's team

1 pointI would say recognizing that one might have biases without being aware of which ones they are is really important, because it makes me at least consider that everyone probably has the same good intentions I do, just sometimes about other things. And go out of your way to do it, because “in your way” is probably in your comfort zone. Wendy P.

1 pointThis! It took me quite some time to realize that many opportunities afforded to me were really not available to everybody.

1 pointYes, if that's happening it's racism. But often it is not. In the 1950's, a lot of people were unaware of any issues. They didn't think there was an issue with black people sitting at lunch counters, because they never saw any black people sitting at lunch counters. They ate somewhere else. What's the problem?Black people sat at the back of the bus. They seem happy there and it's always been that way. What's the problem? Our CEO's have always been white men. But there are plenty of black people in the company. What's the problem? Unless you show people the problem they don't think it's a problem - because it has never been a problem for THEM. For years I would talk about how I was not privledged because I had to work so hard for what I got. I had a story about making my final tuition payment in nickels and dimes from my third job as a laundromat maintenance person. That misses that many people never had the chance to even pay tuition in the first place. So I think a lot of people catch breaks and are not aware they are catching breaks. And if you try to tell them that, their first reaction was similar to mine years and years ago - "How dare you say I didn't work for it!"

1 pointWork with your company on DEI initiatives. Recognize your unconscious biases and work to minimize them. (We all have them.) Become an ally. When you hear small anti-minority comments don't ignore them. (Jokes usually.) That helps change the climate.

1 pointIt doesn't seem like he's advocating to put a new jumper at 1.4 either, and this seems tangential at best to what I quoted.

1 pointI already told you I don't know this information. I never claimed to know it or implied I did, and I'm not obligated to try to look it up and participate in your pedantic games. If you have a point you'd like to make, why don't you just go ahead and use your words and make it?

1 pointWhat is there to disagree with? The lower your wing loading, the lower your forward airspeed, the more likely your ground speed will be zero.

1 pointFolks on the left tend to be more willing to take one for the team and folks on the right are more willing to take one for themselves.

1 point"Washington — The Senate voted to move forward with former President Donald Trump's impeachment trial on Tuesday, with a majority of senators determining they have jurisdiction to place former presidents on trial in cases of impeachment. By a vote of 56 to 44, the Senate rejected arguments by Mr. Trump's attorneys, who asserted that holding an impeachment trial of a former president is unconstitutional." If Republicans held the majority in the Senate it is likely they would have voted that impeachment trial of a former president is unconstitutional. I think that is a decision that should be decided by the Supreme Court.

1 pointPlease -- every now and then that troll is actually a student who's only magnifying the troll, and not as knowledgeable.

1 pointAnd for prices to allow for the pay from those manufacturing jobs to garner a living wage. glass milk bottles -- delivered each morning and the bottles reused/recycled -- would put us back on a good track with the environment, too. I do remember having a milk box on the front porch, and the milk truck driving by early in the morning with the deliveries.

1 pointYeah that's the quick answer. Especially at a high level, the fundamental question of "what is a license for?" gets even bigger than it is at other levels. Would the E license actually be useful in selecting people for something? (e.g, "You want on this 40 way head down? Oh, you have an E license, great, you're practically automatically selected." That's unlikely to work when skills get so specialized at higher levels.) At lower levels, licenses can be more useful for selecting people. (e.g., "C license or higher for this very tight landing area") Is it about being an expert in at least one thing? Or a broad range of stuff? (e.g., fulfilling at least 10 out of a possible 20 qualifications) Or is it just a sort of a big scavenger hunt for bragging rights? (e.g, "You were world champion in a freefly team? Haha, but you never did a wingsuit jump in your life so you can't qualify as an Expert. I'm an Expert because I've done a bunch of different things including my night CRW water jump using oxygen equipment with gear I rigged myself!") Canada's CSPA used to have an E license until maybe 25 years ago before it was discontinued. While it did cover some useful and broad ranges of experience (like instructing, rigging, being in competitions, and the important-in-the-old-days disciplines of RW and accuracy), it was a bit of a scavenger hunt thing (e.g, 5 water landings), so only a dozen or so people ever got them. They can keep the license but otherwise the license no longer exists.

1 pointHi Keith, I would prefer the waxed paper containers for the milk. Yup, we need to quit buying from China. Walmart is what destroyed American manufacturing; them and their customers. It would make almost every product a little more expensive; but, IMO well worth it. So what if you only have 6 pairs of shoes instead of 7? Jerry Baumchen

1 pointNot really. Herd immunity does not refer to how the immunity is conferred. It refers to protection of a susceptible individual by the organisms around that individual all being immune, thus forming a "barrier" that the disease must pass through before it gets to them. (Of course it's not a literal barrier; it's a significant reduction in statistical odds of the susceptible individual being in contact with a contagious carrier.) The immunity could come from a vaccine or a natural infection/response (the outcomes are essentially identical) or it could even come passively, where antibodies are transferred from one person to another via natural or artificial means. Note that in many cases those susceptible individuals are people who are immunocompromised (transplant recipients, chemotherapy patients) or who cannot tolerate vaccination (infants, some people prone to anaphylactic shock) and thus herd immunity represents their only protection.

1 pointThat tells me either one of two things...a: the gear was not set up properly, or b: your instructors were crap. 30 sl jumps is inexcusable, it sounds like you were just being milked. I've heard stories like that from the UK more often than from any other country, and having witnessed a couple of so called "instructors" in action first hand, I'm not surprised. Its amazing the number of students who give up on training in the UK, or being told to take up bowling, go to another DZ on the continent and fly through the training. I trained a few like that in NZ myself.

1 pointPuhhleeezzze. Benghazi, Emails, Hillary Clinton, all gets brought up constantly. President encourages sedition, there should be a trial. Let the GOP show they do not care about this and feel people should not be punished. Let the party of Law & Order take that stance. Force them to air their opinion.

1 pointOh Dear God, Chuck I cant belive these words I am reading. Roger, Rook and I were at the dz here one day and I wanted a picture. Just before they snapped it - Roger picked me up and held me in his arms. I had it framed long ago. We were both laughing. I just can not belive this... ... I just can not imagine.... .. To my friend Rook and Missy ... my deepest sympathy. ~AirAnn~
