Nothing. He was following FEMA's Incident Command System and the roles and responsibilities for Emergency Support Functions six & eight. (ESF 6 & 8). During a disaster, emergency, etc. and there is a medical surge, no different than rolling up on a large airplane crash; one has to prioritize (triage) the situation. Nursing homes are part of the national emergency response framework and shifting sick people out of hospitals and into nursing homes that are not needing emergency critical care is part of that framework. Wait till it gets bad enough that they start shifting people to Veterinary Clinics. There's a whole lot of reasons to hate Cuomo, but that ain't one of them.

Because NOBODY got it right the first time. It should have been a complete 3 month shutdown. Now, let's have curfews in Europe at 6PM WTF is that going to do? Is it only spread at night? sheesh. Maybe this is God's, Buddha's, Mohammad, et.al. way of cleansing us of silly ideas.

While the first part is correct, DeSantis did fuck up by not having the elderly tested and took a whack-a-mole approach (Outbreak- React) to outbreaks in the nursing facilities. There were some nursing homes that couldn't get the proper PPE even after requesting it from the Governor's office - not even masks. Look up Seminole Nursing facility. Complete goat-fuck. And, you're right - "EVERYONE knows that the elderly are particularly vulnerable to pathogens of any sort," and they should know that the caretakers and medical professionals are the ones who pass the pathogens on to the elderly. I'm not going to get into a long circular debate with you, Brent. Your agenda was clear in the first post. The bottom line is, EVERYONE has fucked this up from the top down no matter what (X) is after their name. PSA: Wear a fucking mask. The life you protect could be a family member.

My mom was more or less ok with my jumping. She wasn't all that interested in coming out to watch. The only time my dad came to the DZ (with my mom) was to see a fundraiser event where one of the guys did 100 jumps in one day. He died in 05. We ran a small, weekend only, club DZ. If we had a busy weekend, sometimes the student rigs would be left unpacked and I'd come up during the week to pack. Mom would come up with me and just hang out and enjoy the peace & quiet of the mostly empty airport. I was a pilot a while back, and got re-current and started flying jumpers. One day, a few of the guys wanted to jump and none of the other pilots were available, so they called me. I called my mom and invited her up to watch. Since I was going to be flying, not jumping, she decided to come out. She had a ball watching. She thought the joy she saw them experiencing and expressing on the jumps was really fun. She thought the language was a bit 'salty', but understood that's how those guys were. So, a couple weeks later, she decided to come out and watch me jump. It was a day with high, thin clouds, so the plane & jumpers were silhouetted against them and really easy to see. We had a guy starting to jump camera in our group, so she would see the plane on jump run, us come out of the plane, open, fly our pattern & land, then we'd put the video up on the hangar TV while we packed. Again. she loved it. On the ride home, she commented that she didn't get the 'pit of the stomach' fear she was expecting when we were leaving the plane and falling through the sky. After that, she'd come out quite a bit. She'd sit on the picnic table, watch over my little dog and watch us jump. The rest of the jumpers enjoyed having her out. A lot of the students and their families & friends were often surprised that she was hanging out (You like seeing him jump? You aren't scared?). She really enjoyed watching the tandem students and how they acted/reacted from walking in the hangar, through the training & gearing up to getting on the plane, to coming back after their jump. She got a big kick out of seeing the change in their attitude/emotions from 'before' to 'after'. After we closed down that DZ (Wolf River Skydivers), I moved to a different place, and she came right along. The jumpers at the other place were just as welcoming and friendly to her as at the old place. When that place closed, I moved to a DZ a couple hours from home. Since I often would take a tent and spend the whole weekend, she really wasn't able to come. However, back in 2019, I was heading down with a friend, planning on only the one day. So she came with. Again, the staff & jumpers were very friendly & welcoming. Again, she had a ball. Since it was Mother's Day weekend, the DZ was offering discounted tandems or free observer rides in the Otter to any mom. She declined, since I had explained how the Otter comes down. Back when I started, she expressed some interest in doing a tandem. However, her health has declined and she no longer thinks it's a good idea. The second DZ near me reopened last year, and she came out this year. The pandemic made it less than ideal, and she only came once. But she still was warmly welcomed and had a good time.

There IS a problem with global warming - it stopped in (erase erase erase) 2020! Fun fact - this thread originally claimed that climate change ended in 1998, because that was the warmest year for several years that followed. 1998 isn't even in the top 10 of hottest years any more. In 20 years we will be looking back at 2020 saying "wow, it was cool back then."

Every state has an Emergency Management Agency. Every agency has a copy of the national incident management system (NIMS). It's the same playbook and we all attended the national and regional exercises. I cannot speak for the Governor's you mention and if the plan was already being rolled out before anyone knew . . . But, I do happen to notice they each have a (D) after their names whereas, you don't include DeSantis. According to the Florida Healthcare System; there have been 7,000+ confirmed deaths from the virus among residents and staff at long-term care facilities. There's 50 Governor's who did not do well There's an entire world of countries who made mistakes. There's a whole lot of other reasons to throw rocks at politicians, but this ain't one of them and your aim is off - why not include the countries' leaders?. And, there's a whole lot more R's that refuse to wear a fucking mask and I've now buried three friends in the last six weeks.

The only way the light flashed or was seen twice was if the lever was moved from the up detent then back to the up detent then from the up detent... The light in the cockpit is triggered when the lever is moved from the up detent not when the stairs move or bounce up.

What DougH said. They were in a situation where something had to be done. Ya know, in some cases it might even have been the right decision, but with facilities without as much capability to isolate it was devastating. Hopefully there won’t be a need to drag that knowledge out too soon again. It’s kind of like the decision tree when you have a horseshoe or a pilot chute in tow. What’s the right decision for some of them is the wrong one for others — and you’re in the middle of a skydive. Wendy P.

Mom's philosophy from my early years was, "You can die crossing the street; you might as well die doing something you love."

I continue to appreciate that Paul is the only BOD member that offers his perspective on this matter. Shows Character My biggest issue has been that the BOD decided to donate part of members dues to it. I said so in my 1st post. Still is. Near half century this has been going on is bad. It's just not the worse. When Bill Ottley died, clearly nobody stepped up to finish this project. That happens. Volunteer projects are often plagued like that. So it sat for awhile. Bush jumped, he got nominated and interest was sparked again. So far so good. Why didn't someone suggest to him to help find some space in a national museum? A great opportunity came and went. Nothing can be done about that now. Or is there? More later... As far as quadrupling the amount of funding, how was that achieved? Well, a person was hired and getting paid quite well, pitched the BOD to give away members funds to this. With no input from the members themselves. No fact checking on the BOD's side. Just takes his word that this will get this done. He then used that donation to convince other parachute assoc. from around the world to contribute because the USPA did and they changed the name to International.. Gotta to admit, that was slick. Maybe you can share the number of folks that live outside this country that the "professionals in organization or management of Museums": have to say will visit? "So to me, the situation is like this...I go to work for a business that has been around for 40 years, but never grown. In about 8 years, I quadruple the money in the bank, sign up almost a dozen of the top people in the industry to work for free, develop and catalog an inventory of over 1000 pieces of huge skydiving historical value and warehouse them for free, develop a concept where people and organizations from all over the world are sending money, and finally have some kind of definite goal line, and end result. Should I be supported & rewarded for my last 8 years of huge success and progress? Or should I be penalized for the previous 40 years where not much was done, and I had no control or input?" Is this you or are you talking as the 3rd person? I suspect the latter. Who are these dozen top people in the industry? You must mean the Trustees. The one's I researched that have the full time jobs outside of this business of getting projects of this nature done. Those Dozen? The organizing of the items was very commendable. Sandy Reid was involved in that. Took about a week from what I understand. Don't know if they were paid but, I hope they were. Had to be a lot of work. Still like to know where Bob Sinclairs van is. Saying that hustling money from folks and organizing :over a 1000 items a "Huge success" in 8 yrs, is a stretch. Saying yer being penalized for the fact that not much did happen in the 40 yrs prior is petty. It's an historical fact and my pointing it out doesn't "penalize" anyone. Get over it. "True, the end result is not yet accomplished. Yes, there may be some mistakes and compromises getting from “now to then”. But there is movement, there is forward progress." I suppose the politically correct thing to do wude be to give everyone that shows up, a medal for doing so. Never understood that but, if that's what yer lookin for OK. I still don't see why some simple due diligence can't be implemented. When funding is being saught, the normal route is to develop a plan from start to finish, figure out how much it's gonna cost. how it can continue as an entity and how long it's going to take to implement and THEN get the money. That's normal. Not here. We are gonna go out and raise as much money from whatever sources we can saying whatever needs to be said to do so. Forget that there is STILL no firm plans. Even after we use your 8 yr scenario. Wanna do something that can restore credibility? Start by getting 5 yrs worth of detailed financials from the ISMHOF. Let's see where the funding is actually going. And I'm not talking about a 990 IRS form. Need to see the details of the numbers on there. Tell them to put a REAL plan together. No more of these ridiculous, pie in the sky concepts that have little if any chance to happen.. Of course, you can ignore my advice. Ignore my and other member requests to act like a responsible stewart of other folks funds and continue down the same path. Or... you can be the only Board member that actually looked into this. Choice is yours.....
