Merry Christmas and happy winter season to all of my friends and foils. May your 2021 be better than your 2020 (admittedly a low bar). That said, I truly wish all of my fellow skydivers the best!

You just don't understand how it works out in the real world of home protection. Those who are truly concerned for their safety don't drink or go to sleep in feather beds. Nope. If you are serious, you go to sleep sober, in the prone position, with your AR resting on a sand bag and your wife lying next to you with a night vision spotting scope. There is no way you'd accidentally shoot your kids or concerned neighbors even if they did get past the claymores.

But it was not the last word so it can not end there. Jakee ALWAYS has the last word. It is a strict rule. We all just have to learn to live with it. Once you accept it all is well.

Perfect for home defense! You've had a drink or nine on New Years and you hear a commotion downstairs. You grab your trusty AR and aim down the stairs. You are about to fire when you realize it's your son - so you elevate and shoot over his head. Phew! That was close. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief. Then you release the trigger. About the only way you could make it a better weapon is to make it sensitive to shock. That way if a bad guy swings at it while you are holding it, it goes off. Winning all around.

I'm embarrassed to say this guy was a Marine (and have been embarrassed by him for some time). I'm pretty forgiving when people who have never served in government are elected to office, and then overstep or misunderstand (innocent mistakes) ethics and finance rules. But military officers have to engage in -- and often lead -- annual discussions and training sessions on this stuff. As a member of congress he committed gross violations of finance laws and ethics regulations (to the point that I wouldn't even have excused them for someone who might not "know better"). Double whammy. It's guys like him who make it so military members can be forced to take on even more training sessions, with documented attendance and participation -- taking away from doing our regular mission and from the annual skills training calendar. It's disgusting.
