Sometimes the mistakes of ones friends or associates are understandable, while the exact same mistakes (or even more neutral actions) from ones enemy or “other” are stupid and unconscionable. Moving goalposts, mote in someone else’s eye, whatever. No one is immune to that, but if you’re raised with a reliance on your own judgment, and with a feeling that questioning yourself is a sign of weakness, then i think it happens more easily.
Questioning ones self isn’t weak; there are always questions, and accepting and addressing them is honest.
