Without people to disagree with this would be a boring place. It's already down to too few regular posters, we need you and everyone else as well. I have friends in the real world who also disagree with me over things. But we just agree not to talk about them. I assume that in normal regular everyday life you are another skydiver who is awesome to be around. This is about the only place I can have discourse with people about some of these things. I've tried on FB, but it just turns into a shitshow of shouting because there are no rules. This place has just about the right level of moderation to keep things civil, yet openly talk about strong differences of opinion. Many, perhaps most of us are going to get this thing. Most of us will be fine health wise. All of us are going to have our lives changed to some degree for at least half a year. Maybe longer. I sure hope this site is well maintained so I can have someone to bitch at.

Do you really believe that? I won't deny that there are a few folks on here that I would not feel at all bad if something happened to them. But you aren't one of them. I disagree with you on both 'general principles' and specific issues on a variety of things (not everything). But in general, you are intellectually honest enough that I can at least mostly respect you. You claimed earlier that many on here wanted Trump to fail at handling this crisis. That's also not true, at least for me. I'd like to see him behave in a rational, adult, intelligent manner, using the best scientific information to help guide the nation through this. But, given the fact that he has NEVER acted in those ways, either before or during his time in office, I didn't have much hope. And, unfortunately, I was right. There was something posted recently (last couple of months?) that noted Evangelicals expected to be persecuted by those who disagreed with them. Mainly because they would persecute those who they disagreed with. Sort of "expect others to do unto you as you would do unto them".

Everyone knew that, and, frankly, if it had been someone else it would have gone unremarked. Massachusetts, with its very significant Irish population, has cancelled all St. Patrick's celebrations and events. OTOH, Turtle, you enjoy stirring the pot enough that you shouldn't be surprised when sometimes you get caught in it. Wendy P.

What's the difference between COVID-19 and Boeing 737 MAX? COVID-19 is airborne.

I admit that YOU wrote something really stupid but won't accept responsibility for doing so. People are saying that is "very Trumpish".

Morning, Professor. I meant that this is the second time you posted it right after I said something to Brent. I knew what you meant and was "trying" to explain that I would stop feeding the trolls. You know, for as much as we all argue on here - I hope everyone is safe and cautious. Keith

Or listen to NPR, which partners with the BBC quite a lot.

Well then, by the same logic a doctor or hospital that needs to spend their own profits stockpiling beds, equipment and drugs that will only be needed once in a blue moon isn't going to do so. Human nature and all.
