See, there you go again. That's not just provocative, it's deeply offensive and misogynistic. It's not something you say to generate a discussion, it's something you say because you're either a small minded bigot, you want to outrage the people you're talking to, or a combination of both. I'm really curious why some guy would think it's a good idea to barge into the women's forum (where this thread started before he barged in) on a skydiving website (where very few women who will put up with attitudes like his hang out), to insult women. I wonder who turned him down for a date. Smart girl. </ad hominen attack>

That does not, nor will it ever, keep info confidential. They may not put the names/places in the published report of Parachutist but, it certainly doesn't take a genius to put together where it happened. Especially when it is a law firm looking to take action. They already know where that is. As far as attaining this data, I have mentioned too many times that a BSR is NOT required to attain it. If anything, I believe this is going to encourage NOT reporting it. I can think of several different methods that may have been more effective but, since they were never implemented, we will never know. Let's give this a shot and see how their method works. I think this is a non issue and it simply won't effect much. I just think the decisions coming from the board are wrong and continuing to defend bad calls doesn't make it any better. As far as the number of these happening with instructors, It doesn't require a BSR to fix that either That will be handled by the DZ or S&TA. Fire an AAD at my place and I can guarantee that will get handled before any form is ever filled out. I'd be willing most DZO's will do the same. If the USPA feels they need to get involved because these folks are simply going to ignore that, are demonstrating once again how truly out of touch they continue to be.

This. He’s not worth engaging with, because it simply reinforces his notion that he helps to set the standards for both beauty and intelligence in women, as well as decide their relevance. I hope he never really does. Unless, of course, he’s the type who says “I think women are stupid, but Sally over there is OK.” Which would go along with his believing what he personally interacts with, and otherwise going with his prejudices. We see that with all kinds of prejudicial thinking Wendy P. (Intellectually weak retired rocket scientist)

Being married to a very, very smart woman who would think you under the table I thought I'd leave this here: http://www.aei.org/publication/women-earned-majority-of-doctoral-degrees-in-2017-for-9th-straight-year-and-outnumber-men-in-grad-school-137-to-100-2/ "Women earned majority of doctoral degrees in 2017 for 9th straight year and outnumber men in grad school 137 to 100" (Bold mine) The only areas where men significantly outnumber women in higher education are physical and computer sciences, and engineering. Every other field is female dominated. Even business is pretty much even. I'm not sure where you got these beliefs of yours but you're not looking in the right places for data, that's for sure. It's becoming more and more evident to me that the idea that women are in general 'weaker' in anything but brute strength is simply a holdover from stereotypes that simply prevented women from competing fairly against 'mens stuff', thereby perpetuating the stereotype.

The info is stripped AFTER it's published. Please tell me how that is kept "Confidential"? They have avoided answering why a BSR is required for this or why this is all of a sudden such a serious problem at this time. Pay attention.

They have very publicly stated their justification here. At least some of them have. You just refuse to accept and/or believe what they are saying. Accountability? They have that, you have a vote. Use it. BIG Parachute will answer to the "little people". As far as subpoena goes, you are not paying attention. Incident Reports are stripped of the information they provide, and then destroyed by USPA policy. I posted the rule and the link earlier. This is done specifically so there is nothing for anyone to subpoena. CSPA has a similar system. Again, BIG Parachute is not out to eat it's young, or to feed lawyers.

Wow, you seem to have great research skills. Honestly, I would rather back down from most claims than be put in a position to have to defend them with that amount of data. I admit I didn't read everything, it's not really a question that keeps me up at night, but well done! With studies done at 11 months old, it's hard to imagine that there is no biological difference. I wonder if we're still gonna keep arguing about it now. I, for one, am ready to rest my case. Either one. I don't stand by 99% being an accurate number, and never did. To me, the phrase "something like 99%" speaks for itself. It's hyperbole. But please nitpick my logic.

Sex differences in fear of spiders " In the presence of a live spider, women reported more subjective unpleasantness and tension than men and had higher heart rates. Women also displayed greater reluctance to be close to the spider. " Gender and age differences in the prevalence of specific fears and phobias. "Animal phobia had a prevalence of 12.1% in women and 3.3% in men." Arachnophobia researchers want to know why women are more likely to be terrified of spiders Girls are primed to fear spiders "... women are four times more likely to take fright than men..." WHY ARE WE SO AFRAID OF SPIDERS? "About 75% of the people sampled were either mildly or severely afraid of spiders. Of those most were female. (This gender bias in arachnophobia has been supported subsequent research.)" Plenty more if you want to explore

This was covered in the videos posted upstream if you would watch them. Ron Bell talked about why he wanted this change in the video.

I bought skydiving items twice from their EBay store. The items arrive quickly and were legit. My last order was a VISO digital altimiter with a SOLO II+ audible. They beat everyone else's price and both items are working fine.

Why now? Why not now? This is information that the Director of Safety & Training and the BOD feels is important to have in order to enhance safety.

"BIG Parachute", I like that. I'll probably use it without attribution so I'm acknowledging it now. Every time someone starts sounding like they believe in a conspiracy at the "EVIL USPA HQ".

I realize Americans don't see Canada as any more than a State they need paperwork to visit, but we actually are a separate country that is not AAD mandatory.

That explains a lot. We don't live in pre-history, we live in the 21st century. In the 21st century we no longer have to hunt our food or fight off animal predators so the fact that men are generally physically stronger than women really doesn't matter anymore. Obviously that's a fair point, but how sustainable is 21st century comfort given our current rate of consumption. It's scary that many don't seem to think about how dependent and vulnerable we really are. I'll never forget how chaotic it was in downtown Detroit during the north east blackout in 2003, and that was only for a couple of days. Could you imagine if something like that lasted for weeks, months, even years? I try to be optimistic, but if shit ever hits the fan, those prehistoric instincts are gonna hit us hard, and our preoccupation with beauty will be the least of our worries. At 18 he's legally a man, but if you're looking at it from a strictly biological perspective, then it's about 12-13 years old or so.

In the 21st century we no longer have to hunt our food or fight off animal predators so the fact that men are generally physically stronger than women really doesn't matter anymore. Breeding is what we do with animals, not humans. Using the term "breeding age" equates women to animals. Women of "child bearing age" would be a better term. Still a fact of biology but without the negative connotation of "breeding". Is he over 18? Then biologically he is a man. Never held hands with a girl? Maybe he's gay. Still a man. Never won a fight? Maybe he's mentally stable enough to have never gotten into one. More of a man than those who pick fights. Deathly afraid of spiders? Seriously? If being afraid of spiders makes him less of a man then does not being afraid of them make a female less of a woman? Porn addict? Plenty of men out there who meet that description. I could swear that "man" means whatever you say it means. If you get to decide what a man is, why don't women get to decide what a woman is? When I said women, I meant exactly what I said. Women. Females. We can lead. We can kill spiders. We can support ourselves and our families. Even if we aren't lesbians. When I said evolved, I meant just that. An evolved male understands and appreciates that in most non-biological ways women are the same as men. An evolved male is considerate of others. An evolved man doesn't assume that a woman with short hair wearing comfortable jeans and a tshirt is a lesbian. An evolved male doesn't spout misogynistic bullshit. The first rule of hole digging is knowing when to stop. Pretty sure you've already hit the bottom of this one.

Gonna guess that USPA has a pretty good idea of what would happen if this wasn't mandatory. They don't have 'enuff' faith in the members. They do have 'enuff' experience in receiving (or more accurately not receiving) accident reports. They know damned well that there are a LOT more accidents than they get reports on. I can think of at least a half dozen people who suffered fairly serious injuries (broken bones) that were never reported to USPA. They know full well that if they relied on voluntary reports of AAD fires on student jumps, that they would receive reports on only a fraction of the actual occurrences.

Because "breeding age" suggests that you value women by their utility as breeders. He's a man who sounds like a loser. If he also cures leukemia, has a boyfriend and wins the 4-way open competition with his team? Maybe not such a loser. Why do you think that most women need to be led, and can't kill spiders? Or perhaps "evolved" means a man who doesn't see women as fearful, lost souls looking for someone to lead them.
