Kuper 0 #1 November 30, 2003 hey! i want to buy an 'almost new' gear from someone and i have 3 questions (i have a lot more but these are very important right now): 1. what is the difference between Cypres 1 and 2? i remember that some people complain that the battery life is shorter or something like that, and that they hda problems with it - because they bought Cypres2.... or something like that. so what's the story of that Cypres2? is it bad? good? live longer? shorter? please explain to me... 2. let's say the guy had just 25 jumps on that rig and main, no reserve rides, and let's say he owns it from last March. let's say he didn't jump on it for the last 2-2.5 months (but the reserve was packed and checked 2 month ago +/-). and let's say i want to jump with it. DO I NEED TO BE AFRAID TO TAKE IT because of the fact that nobody jumped on it for the last 2 month and that it was closed in a bag or closet? if the rigger knows the rig (and he knows it the best) and he is the one who packed it's reserve - DO I NEED TO BRING IT TO HIM TO OPEN/ check etc.???? i really don't know! 3.i always jumped on the rigs of the DZ. the smaller i used there (the smaller they got for rent) is (wings i suppose) 230. no matter what - if that new rig sits good on me - i'll probably enjoy it very much, becase i don't know anyting else... now i'm getting to the point: maybe the weather will be bad till the guy live abroad and i won't have the chance to jump with it. IS IT REALLY SO IMPORTANT TO ME TO TRY IT IN THE AIR, after the riger gave me the 'ok' when he saw it on me? i mean - i know nobody else than me can feel it, but with my newbie (47jumps) situation i can't feel that it's not good... thanx! i'll appreciate every piece of answer from your points of view... Jib 0 #2 December 1, 2003 Quote1. what is the difference between Cypres 1 and 2? The Cypress 2 is smaller, water-resistant (but you have to change the filter if you get it wet), doesn't need batteries every two years and counts down faster on start-up. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. sundevil777 102 #3 December 1, 2003 No need to worry at all about it being packed for a few months. That is the one thing you don't have to consider. What you do need to consider is if you are impulse buying. There is a lot of gear out there for sale. It is so tempting to have it now.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

The Cypres one is the "old" model no longer being sold but still reliable as ever. needs a battery change every two yrs and a maintainance check every four. Retires at age 12. The Cypres 2 is the followup model, counts down faster and needs less maintainance. That's all about it, no worries. If you don't feel comfortable with the thing having been sitting in the closet for 2 month, DUDE, REPACK IT!!!!! What the fuzz??? But you don't have to, i have jumped mine after it sat in the closet for 4 1/2 month, deployed just as well. (Although it is recommenden to repack it every three month as well if not in use, just so your stuff won't "set in" too much). The reserve is still valid for at least a month in most countries, so just test the rig. *** 3.i always jumped on the rigs of the DZ. the smaller i used there (the smaller they got for rent) is (wings i suppose) 230. no matter what - if that new rig sits good on me - i'll probably enjoy it very much, becase i don't know anyting else... now i'm getting to the point: maybe the weather will be bad till the guy live abroad and i won't have the chance to jump with it. Are you talking about the main canopy or the container size here? If it's container size, have the rigger check out the sizing (the connection of the MLW and the leg/hip straps should be about the height of your pelvis bone on the front of your leg, where you can feel it), but you should feel it. If it's about the canopy size, if it's any smaller than a the student gear, HAVE YOUR INSTRUCTORS take a look at it and ask if it's ok for you to jump it.The mind is like a parachute - it only works once it's open. sducoach 0 #7 December 1, 2003 Easy answer to your concerns. FAR 105.43.a The main parachute must have been packed within 120 days before the date of its use by a certificated parachute rigger, the person making the next jump with that parachute, or a non-certificated person under the direct supervision of a certificated parachute rigger So, unless you know that the main was packed by a rigger or under his/her direct supervision, you are required to repack it. Kuper 0 #8 December 4, 2003 thanx very much for the advices, but 1 hour before the time i had to meet the man, he just told me he 'couldn't come'... i think he decided not to sell in the price we were talking about. 2 days passed and he didn't call me again i guess i'll say goodbye to all those imaginary movies that were in my mind while waiting to see this rig... shit happens... some day i'll find a rig that suits me (size+money). but hey! i did learned some things... thanx again, Ori.http://www.orikuper.printroom.com
