BIRDDOCTOR 0 #1 July 5, 2011 Ok, this is not as easy as I thought it would be. I have search the forum and did gain good info on general ways to do it but it's the details that are preventing me from doing it successfully. I have a FlySight and I uploaded the CVS file into Paralog. I need to export the CSV file from Paralog to a SSA file. I read the info on the Paralog site about exporting but to me it is like reading a foreign language. In a common easy to understand language can someone explain in detail how to export the CSV file in Paralog to SSA. Once I have this I will put it into VirtualDub to overlay the GPS info over the video. Also, will VirtualDub run a GoPro HD video? It will not recognize my video. Any help would be appreciated. Arvoitus 1 #2 July 5, 2011 VirtualDub does not natively support MP4-files which GoPro produces. You'll either need to use some other program to convert them into a format VD will accept or use an import plugin for VD. Edit: I realized that maybe I should've included instructions on how to get VD to load your GoPro footage. First install: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mp4cam2avi/ it will convert the MP4-file into an AVI-file (doesn't recompress the video just changes to container format). Then install (so that VD can decode the video data): http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout/ if you're running a 64-bit VD on 64-bit machine then you need to install 64-bit version of ffdshow from here. If you get an error saying 'Couldn't locate decompressor for format H264 unknown' when trying to load the converted AVI-file then you most likely have mixed up the VD and ffdshow versions (64-bit vs. 32-bit). Edit2: Don't you get the SSA-file from Paralog if you (after choosing the jump you want) click File->Export->Template based, then choose for template file 'jump_profile_gps.ssa' from directory subtitles, choose Output directory and press OK. VirtualDub doesn't have the SSA-filter by default so you'll have to download that too and it only works with the 32-bit version of VirtualDub.Your rights end where my feelings begin. BIRDDOCTOR 0 #3 July 5, 2011 Great info. When I go into paralog and go file-export-template based I get a window that does not give me options to choose for SSA file type. Where are the templates at? It seems I have to free type the template/info in the fields. The 2 fields that need to be filled in are template file and output directory. Thanks for your help again.Base# 1638
LukeH 0 #4 July 5, 2011 Click on the button to the right of the Template File field and browse to the correct file. For newer version of Windows it should be something like: C:\Users\[your username]\Paralog\templates\subtitles\jump_profile_gps.ssa
DSE 5 #5 July 5, 2011 in the Windows search field, type "*.ssa" and it'll get you to the directory.

BIRDDOCTOR 0 #7 July 5, 2011 Ok, 90% there. Video converted and loaded on VirtualDub. I have the .ssa file. How do I overlay the .ssa info over the video? If I go to video option on VirtualDub there is a submenu with "filters". Is this where I add it? Any details on this last part would be appreciated:) Maybe I'll have a video tonight if all works out.Base# 1638
Arvoitus 1 #8 July 5, 2011 Yes from Video->Filters click Add and you should have a list of all the filters available. From that list (towards the bottom) you should find the filter 'subtitler'. Choose that and click Ok and you should get a dialog to select the SSA-file.Your rights end where my feelings begin.
BIRDDOCTOR 0 #9 July 5, 2011 I got the filter to select my .ssa file. I don't see the gps info on the video. Do I need to apply it somehow to show in the video?Base# 1638
BIRDDOCTOR 0 #10 July 6, 2011 I realize that once I saved the video I could see the GPS overlay but the timing of the info was off. How do I adjust the timing to match the video? How do I save the final project; AVI file? The file size when I save it as an AVI file is 20 + gigs. Almost there.Base# 1638
Arvoitus 1 #11 July 6, 2011 To get the subtitles to match the video you can either edit the duration of the video to match the subtitles or adjust the subtitles. If the video starts before the subtitles (camera turned on before flysight) then you can just crop the video from the beginning. If its the other way around then you'll need to adjust the subtitles with a subtitle tool. You can something like this. The reason the video is so large is that by default there is no compression selected for the output. You can select the compression method from Video->Compression in Virtualdub. If you have XVid installed then that is one that you should consider using.Your rights end where my feelings begin.
