rendezvous 0 #1 November 20, 2003 does anyone do anything special to reduce the wear on the sole of the booties besides ofcourse making sure that you don't walk around on them too much.

Stacy 0 #4 November 20, 2003 shoe goo can be found at a local target, walmart, kmart, etc. what you want to do is put shoes in the booties and hang the legs over a chair or something so they dn't touch the ground. coat the sole and seams connecting the sole with the cordura/fabric part. don't use too much or it will run and glob up. let it dry overnight with shoes in the booties (will hold a better shape), preferably out on a balcony or porch as the smell is strong. rendezvous 0 #5 November 20, 2003 doesn't that make it more brittle.
Stacy 0 #6 November 20, 2003 shoo goo doesn't dry brittle. it dries like a rubbery coating. It will wear down over time, so goo-ing has to be redone every season or so, depending on how often you jump.
AggieDave 6 #7 November 20, 2003 Quotedoesn't that make it more brittle. Nope, it dries sort of "rubbery", not brittle. Very durable, and if it starts to rub off/wear off, you can put more on. andy2 0 #8 November 20, 2003 duct tape worked for me. I applied that more for the tear in the leather though. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
headoverheels 333 #9 November 20, 2003 I put over 800 jumps on my Tony suit, with barely noticable wear on the soles of the booties. I put them on just before getting in the plane, take them off after I land before walking back. I never repaired or coated the soles with anything. webracer 0 #10 November 21, 2003 Hey friend, If you're wearing out the leather sole of your booties, you should do less walking and more jumping. All kidding aside, I have over 200 jumps on each of two RW suits, and there is no significant sign of wear on the leather sole of the booties. My suits are Merlin, and aside from the logistical problems of dealing with them, the suits are tops. TroyTroy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility. shmali 0 #11 November 21, 2003 Of course you can always let them dry inside your house/apt It'll make for a more interesting evening. Like everyone has said; A nice layer of shoe goo will protect your investment from the normal wear and tear you'll encounter. Also your finger is one of the best application 'tools' to use. also makes for a little after fun pealing the remnants off while you watch tv or so. Kris 0 #12 November 21, 2003 Yup, Shoe Goo is good stuff. I just picked a tube of it up today from Wally World for about $3.50. I'll be using it to reinforce the booties on my BirdMan suit.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
