Tonedog1980 0 #1 November 18, 2003 Man I'm so mad. So far every nice day we have had here in Illinois I have been either working or going to school, and every day that I have been off it is to cold out. I swear the weather here goes up and down more then Mike Tyson's career Anyways does anyone have any good links or maybe some sugestions to some good winter equipment I can find? I have only done 2 jumps so far and I don't want to spend to much time away so I don't start forgeting important stuff. Also I feel like a crack head about skydiving lol. Every time I think about it, witch is about twice ever second, I start shaking and have a uncontrolable urge to jump out of something lol. Seriously though, if anyone could help with this I would appreciate it very much. ThanxWhy live your life only to get to death safely? SKYDIVE!
lazerq3 0 #2 November 18, 2003 I've jumped in -22f degree temps with just noeprene pantsand shirt , a sweater and then my jump suit with champion brand winter weight receiver gloves and had NO problems... I feel when jumping in the cold 50% is dressing warm but the other 50% is just mentally sucking it up and just jump... hell your bodies so full of adrenaline you wont feel the cold till your on the ground and by then who cares... you can get warm in the hanger and do it all again!! Just be sure whata ever you wear that it doesnt interfear with any of your handles and make sure you can safley fit your golves into or be able to grab all handles with them!! jasonFreedom of speech includes volume
Tonedog1980 0 #3 November 18, 2003 Kewl thanx. My last jump it was 45 degrees on the ground and who knows what at 3500 feet. But winds where up to 50MPH at 6k. And you are right I didn't realy feel the cold untill I got to the ground. I did notice that my hands where frozen to the toggles but I didn't realy care lol. The only main thing im realy looking for is a face guard or something. That day it was raining and up at altitude the rain was frozen and felt like I was in a sand storm lol. I have long eye lashes and they where collecting ice lol. Made it a little hard to see but I guess if I was wearing goggles that wouldn't happen now would it lol. The only thing is I live in Illinois right across the river from STL and it gets way cold here. I want to jump the whole year round and I know we will get tempeture at like 20 degrees on the ground and probably well below zero up there. Actually we get alot of days that are below zero on the ground lol. So just worring about those days realy. I'm pretty used to the cold though since I have been snowboarding since I can remember but if im going all year round I will get to my freefall jumps and it being my first time, well first time solo that is, I dont want anything to go wrong. Thanx for the info on what you use though. Maybe I will check some of that out and see how it goes. Why live your life only to get to death safely? SKYDIVE! AggieDave 6 #4 November 18, 2003 Check the thread I started in General Skydiving about cold weather jumping, I'm willing to bet you questions will be answered there (there were some good responses in that thread).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Spatula 0 #5 November 18, 2003 Under Armour makes outstanding gear for cold weather....leggings/shirts with mid collars, and full head/face protection. I haven't jumped it, but know of many who do and praise it. Form fitting, comfortable. Hope that helps. www.underarmour.com
