imdskydiver 0 #1 November 17, 2003 It is time to get my canopy re lined , Any thought on building a new set from scratch vs. buying a new set , My canopy is a cobalt and Atair sells the lines but does not install them ,
rigging65 0 #2 November 18, 2003 A good rigger/loft can install the set for you. As for building your own...it's kind of fun, but it takes some time, requires a long table (or floor space with something to tie off to), a sewing machine with 'E' thread and a zig-zag setting, buying the line type, getting the set specs., a finger trapping tool, etc... It's a good learning experience, but it's more work than it's worth, IMO, unless you've got the time and a real interest in it! I might suggest finding a rigger familiar with lineset replacement and ask if you can help/watch. It's worth seeing/understanding! imdskydiver 0 #3 November 18, 2003 I was not talking about building my own but having a rigger build a set for me as opposed to just installing one from Atair . If he built a set would the tolerances be as close as the ones manufactured . I am thinking there is room for error ,
rmsmith 1 #4 November 18, 2003 A master rigger can re-line your canopy for roughly $260.00 not including shipping.
hookitt 1 #5 November 18, 2003 How much will it cost (not including shipping) if a senior rigger does it?My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

I am thinking there is room for error If he's a good rigger, they should be well within tolerance. If you're concerned, just get the set from Atair and have someone install it. I'm pretty sure you'll get the set cheaper from the Mfg. than through a rigger...the Mfg. is set up with the proper jigs and such to build linesets, so it's cheaper for them to build the set than for someone who would be doing it as a "one of" project.
