wingsuit freeflying

People should be choosing a wingsuit for the flock, not for the break-off ... :S

Yup..but sometimes you get this new toy, and you cant resist playing with it a little bit. Guilty as charged. But flying an Acro2 for most of the jumps I do back here at the moment. Does that get me off the hook...:)

But as to big suits. The worst part is, do it to much and you turn into an incredbly lazy flyer. And for light people, it can actually hinder their abilty to dive/match the forward speed due to not having the proper wingload to fly the thing at speed. Again..the right tool for the right job...and bigger isnt always better.

Edit: That fly-by in the video was so slow and smooth!

Thanx..couldnt resist throwing that one in. Also as the slot I was flying there was (upper body) in the burble quite a lot during the jump. And there, the large surface of the Stealth2 actually helped me stay 'afloat' quite a few times when I slightly overshot my slot, and was fully in the burble.

And breakoff (4k), speeding up, andfloating up on/behind the 5k breakoff wave for a flyby (with a legal pull altitude) that was sheer fun..B|;)

My message to everyone...get those smaller suits out of the closet, and work on flying them long and hard. Fly a small suit at 95% and work your ass off, instead of flying a big suit and flying at at 45%.
The big suits are fun at breakoff, sometimes needed for heavy folks.
But look at most videos out there. Usually half of the fabric is just hanging back, instead of being a proper tight flying surface..fly, fly, fly!

OH ! What happen to you....B|

In vein with this thread, I present a small video I made of some jumps I did with some freeflyers 2 weeks ago, while wearing my wingsuit. It was hard work, but a lot of fun. There was a unusually low camera to freeflyer ratio on the jump, so you don't get to see much of me, unfortunatley. I did take my camera on the 2nd and 3rd jumps though, so you can see my angle.

I had to do a lot of carving to keep up with the 140mph fall-rate, but it worked ok.

You can watch it on the Fly Like Brick site:

I also posted it to World Wide Wingsuit News, so it might look familiar if you frequent that. ;)

I think you missed the original post. Rolf is the one claiming to have "invented" wingsuit freeflying or "Birdfreeflying" in his blog.

This is absolutely wrong and i dont see any reason to put such stupid rumors in the world. all you find in the blog is a short comment with a smiley at the end. this has nothing to do with "claiming". if you would know rolf, you would never have even thought about the possibility, he would like to "claim" something.

Watch sec ~0:55-1:00. Maybe, that is what you were looking for. It is from the vid, the mystics in this thread were about ;)

I do know Rolf. The blog is there for the world to see (although the blog does get edited frequently when mentioned here on DZ.com):P
