ranger04 0 #1 November 9, 2003 If there is anyone out there who could give me a little info on the Warp-III I would appreciate it. I am looking for any info on how good it is and where i could get any extra info on the container.
riggerrob 643 #2 November 9, 2003 Hee! Hee! The Warp III was the height of fall fashion about 20 years ago. - designed by Shooby Knutson - manufactured by National Parachute Industries - debuted in Florida in the early 1980s. - two-pin reserve container with 6 flaps, similar to Wonderhog Sprint - sized for Phantom series round reserves, which were affected by a long list of Service Bulletins - all Type 8 webbing, container made of Parapack fabric. - main pilotchute mounted on rear of right leg strap. - miles of Velcro. - fell out of fashion in the early 1990s - I probably have a Warp III packing manual, but have not seen a Warp III in almost a decade - an amusing side note in skydiving history, but they are obsolete, primarily because of the high cost of replacing all that Velcro
dterrick 0 #3 November 9, 2003 All that velcro, Rob? when I bought my BEER rig in '02 I hd the choice between a racer SST and a Warp 3. One was beige with light beige and the other weas brown with light beige. Both date to 1982! I bought the racer because it had a modern square reserve. The Warp had a round and a Jonathan 170 (good combination for a lowtimer, eh?). Both contriners are still in service. Mine's had all the velcro done.. I think there's more on the Racer!! -Hey, some people get all misty-eyed talking about belly reserves and paracommanders, we're just a generation late Dave Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friend (Lennon/McCartney)

jimjumper 25 #7 May 26, 2011 Mine is sitting in a tub in the shed. It has a heavyweight cloud and a 28' Phantom (recalled for acid mesh) in it. It's the size of a tandem rig! In addition to making sure the velcro is in good shape, make sure the cutaway handle velcro location has been moved to the outside of the 2 layers of Type 8 webbing that makes up the main lift web. The originals had the velcro and handle between the layers and under tension made the cutaway tough to peel and pull. I last used it during my rigging training.
