Skyflyer 3 vs Raptor

Recommended Posts

the skyflyer three was introduced in February 2003 at the PIA symposium. It is still a fantastic suit, but there are many newer designs available from BirdMan (and other manufacturers) which offer the same, or superior, performance with less stress on the arms and far superior backflying ease these days.

The Tony Raptor design is just under two years old now and has been refined numerous times since it's release. It is a great suit with fantastic backflying capability. It is also only made out of very tough Parapack fabric. The leg stance on a Raptor is MUCH wider than the S3. Again, the S3 is a five year old suit.

A lot of value in the skyflyer 3, I sold mine in that range and it was in great shape. Outside of having different planforms that stress different areas of the body and having backfly vents the 3 can't be beat for the price you can get them used.

I don't think the 3-s, 6 or blade are as quantum new and improved over the old three that they are worth the new suit price. The 3-s and 6 are plagued by thick mylar that cries to by removed and the big vG's are pain to the owners.

The blade does have great inflation and backvents but I don't think the straight up performance is better than the Old three. Arm stress to me felt the same. Old threes are great for flocking. Guys with newer suits in their case still go back to it for regular flocks.

Its the best suit Robi designed......for BM.;)
