Wingsuit Preparation

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I've been searching/reading the forums and misc. articles about getting into Wingsuits and Wingsuiting in general for the last couple years. However, I seek some additional advice for better preparation.

As you can tell I only have 42 jumps, so I have a bit of time before I can get into it. The majority of my jumps have been practicing and honing my tracking skills. The rest; 2-Way RW, to work on my belly skills, levels, and proximity flying. I am hoping to progress to a pair of homemade Smoke Pants within the next 40 or so jumps. I plan on continuing this path until the magical 200 jumps ;).

My gear setup is an Infinity Container with Dynamic Corners and a 9' Bridle. Spectre 210 and PD193R for canopies. However, I am still jumping student gear due to my jump number and wingloading. I hope to be on my equipment around jump 80-100, giving me another 100 jumps to get comfortable with the Spectre.

I am pretty much looking for any advice, thoughts, etc; on my current plan. Thanks!
-Dale

Just jump a lot!
Have fun! Jump with other people! Freefly, RW...just enjoy and learn to move around in the sky...

.. I think that is all you really need to know.

Dont waste your time on 100 solo tracking jumps...B|

t as

.. And that as well

I track a lot because I love it so will do solos sometimes if I can't find anybody to track with. I came to realise I wasn't learning as much if not flying relative to somebody. I'll do RW instead if it's that or a solo track. Most of the time. ;)

I've started jumping tracking pantz sometimes and know they won't make me a better tracker either but its fun to stay up for longerB|.
but what do I know

Firstly, hello and welcome :)
Secondly, don't think of jump 200 as some magical 'you are now ready' number.

The minimum jump number is just a guideline. As many others will say here, there are jumpers with 100 jumps who they would rather teach to fly, then some with over 1000.

It's all about the individual, the skills they posses and more importantly their atitude.

Forget about the number for the time being. Enjoy your skydiving. Have fun. Then when the time comes, speak to an experienced wingstuit pilot, buy them a beer and find out what you can do to prepare for a course.

Also check out the FAQ in this forum, lots of useful information there :)

Do lots of Atmonauti, it should almost be a prerequisite and its a whole lot of fun. ;)

I've received permission from JP to change the name of the discipline to "Atmowingie" but leaning towards "Wingmonauti." Could we get Yu** to calculate the mathematical accuracy of one moniker vs the other?

I like wingmonauti but I'm lousy at math. As far as inviting he who's name should not be spoken thats between you and this forums mod.

BTW if you say the name 3 times in sequence an excell spreadsheet with jiberish gets posted in about half a dozen top threads for a few days so you may want to rethink that.

Oh and don't forget you are all "wingsuit infidels".

Of course! I only have four Tracking Dives under my belt, but they are by far my favorite type of dive.

Heh, I'm not even going to talk about that word, as I have seen how the last couple of threads end up ;).

Gotcha, I have just been a little hyped lately thinking about wingsuiting ;). I am obsessed with tracking, and just can't imagine what a wingsuit will do to me :S.
